beauty and the beast director: ok this is it, it's time to work on developing the ballroom scene and its associated costumes. the most iconic, memorable and visually stunning parts in the original movie that helped relaunch animation as a serious medium. you thought Lily James's Cinderella dress was breathtaking? we're gonna take that to a whole new level with belle's iconic yellow ballgown. nothing could possibly fuck this up!

I went to art school and am actually a full-time art teacher for k-8th grade students. Kudos to you for wanting to learn more and grow as an artist! My best advice for improving would be, practice! Just like an athletes or musicians need to practice to get better, the same goes for artists. Get a sketchbook and find time every other day to practice drawing something from life. Reference photos are also very helpful to use. I'll even draw the same thing, like say an eye, over and over again and so even when I don't have the reference photo handy, just drawing it so much gives my hand kind of a muscle memory for how to sketch an eye that looks legit. As far as resources go, there is a ton of amazing people (art ala carte, Mark Crilley, are two I think of immediately) on YouTube who demonstrate the basics and even give direction on developing a style. Books are also great too, depending on your learning style. My personal favorite is Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. It really helps with making connections on accurately drawing what you see and I think I saw it available for free download a few years Ago. Also, look for classes in your area-- lots of communities have art classes that are open to whoever wants to join. Developing your art is even more enjoyable when you do it with others! Oh-- and while I'm all about realism as a foundation, feel free to ignore it too if it's not your thing... I have lots of kids who suck at drawing but have produced awesome artwork anyways. Just getting in the action of making something yourself (a drawing, painting, sculpture, etc) is such a worthwhile experience. It's even worth it to just get some cool materials to try out and see where you might want to focus your growth. That's how I realized I love making marblized abstract paintings just as much as I love drawing graphite portraits. Pardon my long paragraphs-- people who love art just get me giddy :) good luck!!!
