✨️Fathers Day✨️

As I said, here's something for Fathers Day!

Last time I talked about the different mothers in the WoaS!Universe, today we talk about the fathers!

Aster was usually a good father. He was always there for his son when he needed him, always supported him and encouraged him to always stay true to himself.

But that kind of changed when Luminara left and didn't return. He started to hide himself more and more, avoiding everyone. Instead of trying to move on from the sadness, he kept hanging on to it. Aster does not believe that Luminara will return but Orion does.

Their relationship isn't bad, but it was better. Aster is still there for his son but he became more protective of him. Orion dosen't hate it, but he does not like that he has less freedom now and is not allowed to search for his mother.

Their relationship is a bit like Triton and Ariel, a protective father and his free-spirited teen child.

WoaS!Magnifico THINKS he's the best father ever. But if you were to look at his methods as a parent, you will think otherwise.

He loves his son just as much as his reflection, which is what he wants Nico Magnifico Junior to be. That's why he named him like this.

WoaS!Amaya agreed to letting him name their kid with no fighting whatsoever. (He asked her every day if they could name their son Magnifico Junior. Eventually she said yes just so that he'd stop.)

Of course sometimes his kids don't agree with him, which he accepts with respect. (He hits them and tells them to stop crying since "Crying is for peasants!")

Although it may not seem like it, he loves his children equally. (He doesn't. He thinks of Asha as an "mistake" because he wanted another son. She gets abused in all kinds of different ways if she does anything just slightly wrong. Thanks to his care, she starves herself to look skinny enough for him, puts her own needs behind his and smiles when she's told to. Her feeling of self-worth is also almost gone because she's always being told that as a girl she can do almost nothing right. WoaS!Magnifico is also very sexist, meaning Asha can't do anything that boys do, like sword fighting. The same goes for Nico but in reverse. Anything viewed as too girly is something he's not allowed to do.)

WoaS!Flazino's father is called Thomás. Flazino never got to meet his mother Sakina because she passed away a few months after his birth.

(I've re-used the names of Canon!Asha's parents for WoaS!Flazino's parents, bc why not lol?)

Because of his one arm, Flazino was always bullied by other kids, but his father was always there to protect him. Like any good father, Thomás cared alot about his son and only wants whats best for him.

Seeing as his son woulden't be happy in their current living-place, he decides that they should move to Rosas. But sadly everything goes wrong for the two there and they get separated because (I can't say it because: spoilers.)

Now WoaS!Flazino has to safe his dad and get him back, and now finds acceptance from the WoaS!7 teens. That's why he wants to join their group, to be just as cool as them.

~A Different Project~

Today I wanted to share with you a project that I had been working on, a little bit at the same time as WoaS.

It's called: The Untold Stories Of Princess Magnolia

TUSOPM (A shorter way of saying the title) is a separate project from WoaS and is also an original idea. (It also lets me talk more about fairytales lol. I love them so much!)

TUSOPM is a story that follow fairytale tropes like witches, curses, fairies, good against evil, death, reincarnation and other themes from older and more darker fairytales. It also plays with these tropes a little.

Characters:

Magnolia is a young, kind princess. And because this is a fairytale, she's also very pretty and has no mother. She has 3 brothers: Avis, Volare and Olor. They live with their stepmother Lady Thorn and their father King Fidus.

Unsurprisingly, Magnolia was named after the magnolia flower.

(The flowers on her dress are a magnolia if you didn't reconize it lol. I also imagine her wearing alot of white and pink to match the flower.)

Naming a character after a plant is a pretty known fairytale trope, most famous example is "Rapunzel" who was named after a type of salad.

And because this is a fairytale, her brothers turn into birds and Magnolia has to go on a quest to find and free them. This too is a fairytale trope. It can be found in stories like "The 7 Ravens" or "The Wild Swans".

But like in any good story she won't travel safely and will face many troubles and obsticles, which she won't face alone.

Chase (Full name: Chastity) is the youngest daughter of a farmer. And since she is the third and youngest daughter in a fairytale, you know that she does not have it easy.

As it is in fairytales, the youngest daughter always gets sold to a monster ("Beauty and the Beast" or "The Singing Springing Lark" as examples. In those stories, the monster is usuallya cursed prince. Sadly, Chase was only taken by real monsters and no cursed princes).

But Chase's father exploits this knowledge by always selling her to monsters for alot of money. (This is an example for the "playing with tropes" aspect of the story.)

And because of this, Chase has renounced from ever falling in love and prefers to stay on her own. She also has the reputation of being the killer of the monsters that she had been forced to marry/ she had been sold to.

But behind the walls she has built up, there is a kind person who would do anything for her friends. Especially Magnolia.

Amare is a young water nymph, who is passionate about human fashion and dreams of making clothes. This is something that is not usual for his kind, who tend to avoid the human world.

But of course he does not refuse the offer of joining the group. Amare has the ability to turn his fish-tail into legs, but you can still see that he's not human.

Amare will also have a "Little Mermaid"-esque plot-line about falling in love with a human, even if it's not allowed.

Lucky is the son of a merchant. As his name implies he has alot of luck, which he gets from his four-leaf clover that he carries around with him.

Because of his lucky nature, Lucky is a very optimistic person who always has a smile on his face. He's also very helpful towards others. Sometimes he relies a bit too much on his luck and gets himself into many dangerous situations.

Lucky is also the love-interest of Amare, and he shares the nymph's feelings. But he's a little unsure if this could work out.

Marigold is a fairy-in-training. To get your wings and officially accepted as a fairy, you must fullfill a certain amount of good deeds. But Marigold's clumsiness sometimes get in the way. It also does not help that she's too small for her age, which makes her a target for bullies.

But even if others tell her that she won't be able to earn her wings, Marigold does not give up and stays positive and motivated.

And that was everything I could share about TUSOPM. I have a few more ideas but those are spoilers, so I can't reveal them.

I had the idea for this project while I had been working on WoaS for a few weeks.

Here are the very first sketches of the characters. (Marigold was a late adition to the cast, that's why she's not in this drawing.)

TUSOPM is still being worked on, but alot less and much slower than WoaS.

As soon as WoaS!Magnifico heard that SS!Flazino has an ego and no real respect towards others, he knew: That boy would be perfect to be his son. (Nico will just get replaced.)

For anyone wondering, SS!Flazino will get the same treatment as Nico: He'll have no real choices and is forced to be like Magnifico. But luckily for SS!Flazino he dosen't have to really change his personality to be more like WoaS!Magnifico ✨️

✨️Wish and the original 1937 Snow White movie✨️

Anyone who has seen the movie "Wish" knows about the many, many, many refrences to other Disney movies that can be found in it.

It surprises no one that "Snow White" is included in the list of the refrenced movies. Such refrences to the movie are:

-The 7 Teens (obviously).

-Magnifico's line: "Mirrors, Mirrors on the wall. Who's the most handsomest?"

-The poisoned apple being visible in his secret underground lair (and also the lair itself).

-This shot in "I'm a Star":

(Atleast to me it looks like a refrence)

-The well that can be spotted in one scene.

-And of course the biggest refrence: Magnifico being the Magic Mirror, thus making "Wish" canonically take place before "Snow White".

Now you might think: "Jojo, why mention this to us?" Well, I have a reason.

The idea to connect "Wish" to "Snow White" is not actually bad. But with most things in this movie, the potential wasn't used to the fullest.

Here are my points to why this could've worked:

-Star imagery in "Snow White"

(On the left is an early piece of concept art, showing Snow White in a dress with stars on it. On the right is concept art from a deleted dream-sequence that was originally supposed to happen during "Someday my Prince will come". I talked about this scene here.)

And I know I mentioned this before, but look:

You can not tell me that these two don't look similar.

I could not find any source confirming that they took the plushie design from this concept art, but just imagine how cool that would be.

While I do like that Star is a refrence to Mickey Mouse, I would have loved to see them refrence unused concept art. It would've shown that they had taken the time and effort to look trough their older material.

And I'm pretty sure that they might even still have the actual piece of concept art. In 2023, I visited the exhibition Disney had made to celebrate the 100 years. It was in different countries and cities (I went to the one in Munich with my parents), and they had some very old pieces on display. Here's what they had for "Snow White":

-The theme of wishing in "Snow White"

-Snow White's first song is called "I'm Wishing"

-The fact she sings this at a Wishing Well (and we will talk about this well later.)

-The Evil Queen/Old Hag giving her the deadly apple and calling it a "magic Wishing Apple".

-"Someday My Prince Will Come" is about her wishing that she and the prince meet again and that they will live happily ever after.

Now you're thinking: "Okay, but where are you going with this?"

I have two ideas of how Disney could've used the unused/used ideas from "Snow White" in "Wish" as refrences:

-Have "At All Costs" be a love song between Asha and Starboy and have them dancing in a night-sky surrounded by stars like in the deleted dance sequence.

The love-story element is so important to "Snow White" and other classic disney movies, so it would a great full-circle moment to see a dance sequence from the first ever Disney movie finally being used in the movie that celebrates 100 years of the company.

-Remember the well I mentioned earlier? It is clear that it was obviously meant as a refrence to Snow White. But after talking about this with @starss-artss ,we had come to an interesting theory.

In the Art Book, they had shown concept art of the well.

Starss-artss pointed out an interesting detail: If the well was really just ment for that one quick scene and that's it, why make six different versions of it?

And I agree with that question. Any one of these designs would've been good enough for just one small scene.

But then, I re-read the text at the bottom of the page. The well was supposed to be "a nod to Disney Legacy".

The wishing well is a very iconic piece from "Snow White", but the well is most known for being the place where she meets her true love. (Do you see where I'm going with this?)

And when do we see this well in "Wish"? After Asha made her wish and the plushie zooms past her. That was the moment when Starss and I connected the dots for a interesting theory:

What if Asha was supposed to meet Starboy at the well as a refrence to Snow White meeting the Prince?

That could explain the six different versions. And it wouldn't be too out of place, since Asha and Starboy were (supposedly, but I think we all know by now that it is most likely true) supposed to be a couple. And that would honestly be such a cute/cool refrence!

It would not surprise me if this idea and the "At All Costs" idea were actually suggested during the planning of the movie once, but there's no way of knowing.

(If Disney won't use it, then I will lol. I was already thinking of rewritting my meeting scene a little, and after this "discovery", I will deffinatly use the well scene from "Snow White" as inspiration!

And to any new rewriters or regular rewriters who are still struggeling with the meeting-scene, maybe you could do that too!🎀)

✨️Mothers Day✨️

Today is Mothers Day (atleast where I am. It's different for other places.) and I decided to make a little post about the different mothers in the WoaS!Universe: Luminara, Amaya and Rosaline.

Luminara was always a very good mother. She loved her son, listened to him when he had something that was troubeling him and always encouraged him to believe in himself. Orion also got his creative side from her.

But one day she had to leave. Orion waited for her, barely left his home and only waited. It was clear very soon that Luminara would not return.

Amaya is somewhat of a mixed bag. She does pay attention to her kids, but take one closer look and you see that she has a favourite child.

Unlike her husband she actually listens to the problems of her kids and tries to help them and also shows a bit more love to her daughter than Magnifico does.

But she does have her bad sides. Because of alot of stress (mainly caused by the ego of her husband), Amaya drinks alot of wine. This does lead to her being a bit emotionally cold sometimes, which is why she barely does anything against the abuse Asha and Nico go trough (and also because she sometimes does not care about what happens to her kids).

Rosaline didn't get the chance to find out what kind of a mother she would become. She had lost her child, husband and father during the war. The only thing she has left of her child is a blanket which she keeps around her neck. That way she can keep her child close to her.

(If you're wondering, yes, I have mentioned Rosaline before. It was in the final post of the WoaS Anniversary)

After @starss-artss drew multiple Amayas today, I felt the motivation to also draw different characters in the wish-verse!

I decided to try to draw a few different Asha's (since I already drew a couple of starboys before).

Did this take nearly all day? Yes

Am I exhausted and going to bed bc it's midnight now? Yes

Will I also bury myself in a hole of shame because I think I did none of the original designs any justice and made them all look too much alike thanks to my art-style and also messed a few things up like not getting the colors or certain detais right? Yes

And about your question, I'm still figuring out the songs and their placements. So far, I've conceptualized maybe around 10 songs? That's including the 2 songs I showed as a snippet for the prologue.

10 songs is way too many I feel. I've observed that an animated musical film like Disney's typically have around 7-8 songs, so I may have to cut some of my songs from my story. But this depends if I feel if those songs are really needed for the narrative, so some of them may stay or be cut.

To me, it became abit outdated and not royal enough. So I took a look at my unused ideas for his Outfit and took inspiration from this sketch:

✨️A Song for Nico and Simon✨️

I wanted to share one of the new Songs added to WoaS! "I won't say (I'm in love)" will be added as a song between Nico and WoaS!Simon✨️

(Credit to the idea goes to @your-ne1ghbor ,who said that this song reminded them of the two. I agreed and then decided to add it to my rewrite since it really fits. Thank you again, ne1ghbor👋✨️)

Since I had this idea yesterday, I don't have the rewritten version yet, but I will soon🎀

What I can share is how I imagine this song to play out:

I imagine that the song will be sung by the two separatly, meaning one part gets sung by WoaS!Simon and the other by Nico.

The parts of the muses will be sung by the rest of the 7 Teens when Simon has his parts. When Nico sings, the parts of the muses will be sung by WoaS!Asha (and possibly Orion too. I don't know yet if he's in this scene or not, but I think he will be).

At the start of the song, Simon and Nico start at different places, but the others intentionally bring them to the same spot where the two then bump into eachother. Once they do, they finish the song by singing the last line together together.

This would not work the other way around since Nico is smaller than Simon
