Mouth Clicks in Voice Over
In my endeavor to be the best voice over artist I can be, I’ve started looking into how to remove mouth noise from my voice overs. In my talks with more seasoned voice over pros, they’ve recommended using the iZotope RX plugin to remove mouth noise so I went ahead and purchased the plugin. However, I’m sad to say I haven’t had much luck with it.
The software I use to record my voice overs on is Twisted Wave, and I do my cleanup work in Adobe Audition. The iZotope plugin works in Adobe Audition, but I can’t seem to get very good results with it and I haven’t been able to find a tutorial about using the plugin specifically with Adobe Audition. (If anyone happens to make or find one, please let me know.) At this point, I’m not experienced enough or inconvenienced enough to deepen my research into this plugin. If I end up doing long projects, however, my research will continue.
So for now, I’ve been using Adobe Audition’s spectral view to clean up my mouth noise and it’s worked beautifully! This tutorial here is what I’ve used. The only drawback with this method is you have to clean up one. click. at. a. time. so it can take awhile.
I’m confident however that when the need arises for me to learn the de-click plugin, I’ll force myself to learn it =P.
Never stop learning.

Just heard the news. RIP June Foray. I read that you began doing VO when you were 12 years old. Your 87 year career will not be forgotten.
