As 2024 comes to an end, just wanted to share some thoughts to boost your journey in 2025!

I know this post is probably gonna upset some, but exposing these kinds of things tend to upset people 💯

Attention Indie Artists, Musicians, and Promoters:

Stop complaining about how unfair the industry is and start creating the environment you want to be a part of.

Many are frustrated about not making money but are quick to pay for awards, promotions, or “social media management.” If you have something worth managing, manage your own business until you can afford real support.

Remember:

• Paying someone to share your posts isn’t promotion or management.

• Educate yourself about the industry you’re navigating.

• Don’t give a percentage of your hard-earned gigs to someone just because they call themselves your manager.

Why pay a percentage of something you already own 100% of? Protect your work. Build your brand. Be smart about your business.

Epiphany

I’ve come to realize that my love for music had turned into a stressful, work-related obligation. My creativity was slowly drained by constantly creating for others—especially those who demanded my time and energy but never truly participated in the process. It’s a cycle that can suck the life out of you and stunt your creative growth.

I’m now making my way back to doing things my way—reclaiming my creativity and allowing myself to grow again.

I’ve also been losing faith in the online indie industry. So many talented artists are taken advantage of, being told that to stay relevant, we must chase awards—nominate ourselves in multiple categories, pay fees, and fund someone else’s success. While awards can be great validation, they lose meaning when they’re bought rather than earned.

True growth comes from authenticity and creating music that matters to you. I’m getting back to that, and I encourage others to do the same
