I am incredibly appalled that there is a group/groups of individuals seeking to boycott #starwarstheforceawakens because a black man and a woman have been cast in the lead roles, claiming that the film has some agenda against white people among other things. This is insanely stupid and self centered. They think this is actually going to work? The Star Wars movies have brought so many people together, from all races, genders and countries as fans. We fans should take a stand and make this the most popular Star Wars film ever and send these haters running with their tails tucked between their legs. #starwars #fans #unite

Blood moon and downtown St George, plus a shot of the moon taken at 3AM two days before.

Took some shots of the sunset from a spot overlooking St George, Utah. The variance in colors is pretty amazing to me. The shot of the two people sitting was just one of those decisive moments and makes for a pretty awesome shot.

How to pet a cat

How should you pet your cat? It’s a question that’s stumped pet owners for centuries, but science now has an answer. Above is what a team of researchers from the University of Lincoln in the U.K. found, in graphical form.

Yes, that’s right. Cats do not like being stroked at the base of their tail — at least, that was the case for most of the 54 cats in this study, and another, smaller study on the topic. That’s sort of a cat erogenous zone, and petting may overstimulate it, the researchers posit.

The cats’ favourite place to be petted: Their faces, especially around their lips, chins and cheeks, where they have scent glands. (The researchers did not attempt to pet the cats on their bellies, presumably because they didn’t want to be maimed.)

Interestingly, it doesn’t seem to matter what order you pet the parts of your cat. That suggests that cats see petting as akin to grooming, which happens haphazardly between two friendly cats, rather than allo-rubbing, which always goes from tip to tail.

First day of shooting on Oliver Stone’s “SNOWDEN”

I was surprised when I first learned this about Snowden—that he enlisted in the US Army in 2004. He wanted to go fight in Iraq, but during basic training at Fort Benning, he broke both of his legs and received an administrative discharge. After that, he was still determined to serve his country (love him or hate him, you gotta admit the guy’s strong-willed) and so he ended up getting a job at the CIA, which is where his career in Intelligence began.

Today’s scenes felt like a really good way to start this shoot. It was hard, but of course, nowhere near as hard as real basic training. And me, I’m just honored and excited to be doing a soldier sequence with Oliver. I keep saying to myself: “fuck, this guy directed Platoon!”

This is gonna be Oliver’s twentieth film, and I feel so sincerely privileged that he asked me to play this part.
