i think all the time about this article i read once about how when we fall in love (that initial burst of 'oh god i think i really love you i really want to be with you') the brain releases a massive burst of chemicals that, among other things, makes us more open to rearranging our lives and breaking established routines or habits. and the article was theorizing that this is meant to make it easier for humans to merge two lives/worlds/households together or to make room for a new loved person in our physical and emotional space, all while reducing the usual friction that these kinds of big upheavals or changes might cause. i wish i could remember the exact details of the article as i'm probably butchering the science lol but i just love the idea that there's this critical window of time where, through the Magic of Love, we are suddenly Open to Change and ready/eager to integrate Our Shiny New Most Important Person into our lives. anyway I assume this is why sidney was okay with letting geno go out last

I was traded to Atlanta....I needed to regroup and get my stuff together. So I come out from the plane and Sid's car is there. I guess he called my girlfriend and asked what my schedule was and if he could come get me at the airport. I was like hey man, what the heck are you doing here? He says I'm here to pick you up (laughs). So he picks me up and takes me to my place and ends up hanging out all night to where it got late enough that he just crashed in the spare room......I was upset I got moved at the deadline. It was tough for me and my girlfriend. He thought to come pick me up and hang out and have some laughs, and that's who he is as a teammate and friend."
