Imagine it being your life's delight to make this crap. To hear "the fascist President is making a concentration camp for migrants to do forced labor" and think, I'm going to slap this over images of the funny gay hell scene from Supernatural.

This one happened tonight, and they rushed SO QUICKLY to make the meme that they didn't even get it right. A plane and a helicopter crashed into each other tonight in Washington DC. It's likely many passengers are dead, and someone's first reaction was to go and make...this. No time to wait for more information, no time to wait for anything, you have to get this out. You can't even hide behind the "it's informing people" excuse here, because it's misinforming them

But like, why? Tumblr isn't paying you sweet, sweet Tumblr bucks for shooting out #content as fast as possible. Is the reward of notes and people going "whoa, wtf!" that enticing? It's extremely weird that this meme has become a way for people to get cheap engagement bait off of traumatic news! It's extremely weird that people compete to be the first to post a Destiel meme about something that just happened - and, these days, often something involving human suffering and death! It's extremely weird that a large share of Tumblr apparently finds out information on a consistent basis from these memes! It's not 2020. Nowadays this is just the cheapest, lowest effort slop imaginable.

People died in this crash. It was already likely, but it's been confirmed. I know this because I can wait for additional information to come out, instead of instantly firing up IMGFlip dot com to slap their deaths in a meme for Tumblr dot com

Luigi Mangione has been locked up since December 2024, and he's been met with nothing but the violation of his rights every step of the way. Luigi's right to be treated humanely is constantly violated, as is his right to the presumption of innocence and a fair trial. Evidence is not being provided to his legal team, and he's being treated with prejudice by law enforcement.

Luigi is not a handsome face and a few jokes online. He is a real human being with real pain and real health issues. Luigi is a young man fighting for his life and the media is doing nothing but trying to sexualize him and make light of his situation.

Luigi has already lost so much to this, and although he remains resilient, it's important to remember that his circumstances can't possibly be good. It's also important to remember that if they can do it to Luigi, they can do it to more people, to your loved one, to you.

So please, keep talking about Luigi. Keep standing by Luigi. Keep supporting Luigi.
