COFA1002
For my cofa1002 studio class I have chosen question 1.
The question of what constitutes the ‘human’ is an enduring one. Art and design often respond to this question by exploring relationships between humans and non-humans, the environment and ecology. Considering material, social, political, cultural, legal and technological issues, how can contemporary art and design propose new possibilities for imagining the ‘human’ and the environment?

Casting Locations
For my plaster casts maybe I can document the types of ground or flooring found at the locations, like cement paths, plaques, different tiles, blind pass flooring. In a sense these experiments will end up creating a tactile map of places I have visited.

Printing Places
Taking more A3 paper imprints of locations I visited, I really like these imprints because they capture actual debris which includes its tactile and olfactory qualities as well as a visualization. Pia made some really good suggestions, I need to take some much nicer photographs for my final presentations, across all my works for this body.

Following from my previous experiment using A3 paper and spray adhesive, I've continued to create imprints from other locations which I may compile into a booklet. Alternatively I was thinking of displaying my animated map data using flash, in which case I can link my other experiments to it as an interactive map.

Keeping to the theme of location via documentation, I wanted to explore it through metadata in the visual realm. Using Google’s recordings of my locations from the past month I want to synthesize the information, animating my route from each day simultaneously.
Below I’ve included a link to where you can find your Google Maps location history...

In these experiments I am exploring plaster as a medium for documenting location. This particular experiment was looking at buildup of detritus and debris, such as leaves and sticks, over time, adding a new layer of plaster each day for three days.  However I  think I will go in a new direction by taking casts of bark, footprints etc. documenting impressions from locations in a forensic fashion.

Following my paper documenting experiments, I  decided to record locations by creating imprints. Using old scrap A3 print paper and spray adhesive I’ve been imprinting locations I  found interesting...

Sugar spill experimentation:
- set up camera with plan view of experiment setting
- film until coffee is finished
- pour sugar satchel into filmed setting
I was expecting a bit of wind or anything to effect the sugar after pouring, however it seemed to remain unaffected.

Rebecca Murtaugh, turns post-it's into images and artworks, recreates the medium as the subject. Additionally they look fantastic, through an ineffective form of documentation.
