Freja! Artistic Director, Equinambulist and Couturier of the Circus of Dreams

A small description of exactly what Freja does at the Circus of Dreams... Though it may have been shorter to explain what she doesn't do.

From concept to performance Freja has a hand in most if not all the shows under the big top on any given day. Costumes, Choreography, Posters, and Props cross her desk on a daily basis.

Under the lights she is most commonly found as a vaulter, roman rider, or herd director at liberty.

Her main mount Onyxmirror is her iconic companion in the ring, a vibrantly flashy mare Ydris and Freja scouted at a horse bazaar. After returning to the Highland, Onyx decided she would never again hide her magical coat, steel grey changing to bold black, white, and gold in a flash of light.

She is a pampered diva, trained in every discipline at least once, excelling in dressage, liberty, and airs above the ground. If Onyx isn't showing off across Jorvik, she's rifling through Ydris' pockets. The ringmaster spoiled her and Freja has no qualms letting him lie in the bed he made. Not that he minds, he has a sweet spot for the mare's flair and attitude, even if it does leave him wondering if he really did have an extra cracker in his pocket at some point or if he's just going insane.

Meet Dice Wolf!

Jorvik Warmblood Starter of Freja Jagerlied

Nicknames: Dice, Wolf, Worrywort, Spoilsport, PartyPooper

Dice Wolf is as loyal as he is cautious. A meticulous horse with sure footing and a default alert posture. He excels in details and delicate maneuvers and can turn on a dime, but requires some coaxing to reach his top speed. This does not mean he isn't spirited, simply that he prefers a finer approach. Dice will frequently tell Freja she'll give him a silver mane with her antics, to which she simply snickers and assures him everything will be alright. He gives her resistance and she gives him confidence, a well-balanced match.

Introducing Arctic Apocalypse!

Jorvik Warmblood, Starter of Athena Jagerlied.

Nicknames: Arctic, 'Lypso, Fimbul, Pocky

Fimbul is as steady as he is loyal. Despite having a bit of a prankster streak (as Justin's many missing tools found in his stall can attest), he is unflappable in the face of danger, and is a fantastic horse to have in a pinch (especially if one is being chased by sentient calamari). And while being raised by the Druids gives him a bit of a predisposition to blind following, he is open to other ideas and willing to listen and consider what his Rider is telling him. (And with the evidence stacking up, he's getting closer and closer to agreeing with her idea of squirrel stew...)

Mainly does Eventing, with a bit of cutting/herding.

Zombie Anthem: Nicknamed Anthem, Zombie, Zamboni, Antsy, and WOAH

Anthem puts the Wild in Jorvik Wild, she has one gear, and that's Go (Epic Winning) Despite her size and build, Anthem has surprising elasticity and extension and can take off like a track thoroughbred when let loose, She will however, leave a wake of what looks like the aftermath of a meteor shower that ended the dinosaurs. Her high energy and agility make her an unlikely barrel racer. She also enjoys other exercises in reining alongside liberty and tricks.

She of course is the Soul Steed of Freja

Shadowborn : Nicknamed Shadow, Shad, and Milady

Shadowborn is Anthem's full sister but the differences between them are night and day. Shadow is adept in lateral work and a shoe-in for high dressage. Be that as it may she shares a mischief streak with Anthem and is a force to be reckoned with. She may be refined, but she will not hesitate to kick any wayward ruffian through the head with masterful technique and poise.

She is the Soul Steed and Main Mount of Athena

Both of these mares will make it well known when they don't like something and are highly expressive. They picked the Jagerlieds at a horse festival shortly after the sisters started settling into the island. Gary was extremely happy the sister mares would not be split up after growing up together.

Just to introduce ourselves Athena and Freja Jagerlied say Hello!

Jagerlied is pronounced as Yeah-grr-Leed with the second vowel saying its name instead of the first as is found in many Germanic Language tree based words.

As an Aside! If you have any questions to ask either sister, feel free to send them at any time, They are happy to respond!

Both sisters are quiet until you break past a bit of a shell, but Athena can fake civility around strangers a little better than her younger sister.

Athena loves warmer temperatures and can thrive in 100 degrees, Freja on the other hand would be happy as a filly if the world never got warmer then 70 degrees. The two have reached a mutual agreement of one shall suffer for half the year so the other may thrive.

Freja can be volatile and impulsive, while Athena tends to be more outwardly cool tempered. Outwardly is important, as it's more Athena has a better rein on her temper bronco while Freja doesn't usually give enough of a flying rat's behind to do more than point the bronc's legs and let her rip.

Both sisters are Pantomaths, learning anything and everything they can get their brains on. Athena excels in practical knowledge and prides herself on all manner of handcrafting and trades. Athena is also a walking anatomical encyclopedia on most equine, feline, and canine related species as well as humans. Freja on the other hand is more for the abstract, subtle body language and reading weather. Of course neither is a slouch where their sibling excels.

The two made the mistake of going to Jorvik for a vacation, only to get sucked into the Druids' battle against Garnok as both seem to be a possible fifth rider. Neither really take the title, but also can't find it in them to let the Rider's flounder and get injured without their help. This doesn't mean they see eye-level with the Keepers though, far from it. Fripp and Avalon are both heavily wary of the pair but nevertheless have no choice but to rely on their expertise. The Sisters eventually decide to simply move into the Island permanently as their lives steadily become more entwined. When they aren't rolling their eyes at Avalon's thick-headedness and threatening to cook Fripp, Freja works at the Circus she found prior to meeting the Riders. She designs costumes, choreographs acts, and even preforms herself as a vaulter among other professions.

Athena on the other hand puts her trades to good use. She is the most reliable courier in Jorvik and assists any and all tradesmen by apprenticing and or delivering supplies. Her connections get the siblings most of what they need at a decent discount.

As Twins often do, us mods present to you~ Another snippet to ensure your terror comes in twos. Short snippet of the fic in progress below the cut

Pandorian Mantas have a headcannoned Pandorian name of Flyrteps in the world of Jor Trouble. Which translates loosely to Flying Rug.

Athena ran through the silent village and across the bridge. It wasn’t long before she stood on the step of Avalon’s house. Taking a second to catch her breath, she pounded on the door.

There was a bit of shuffling from the inside before it creaked open. Avalon stood in the doorway, air of extreme disapproval pouring from him.

“What do you want?”

“I need your brother.”

The door slammed in her face.

“AVALON, I SWEAR TO HIGH HEAVEN, OPEN THIS D-”

There was a second of scuffling before the door opened to reveal the person of her search, bowl of dinner in hand.

“Sorry about that. Come on in.”

Stepping through, she came into the front room just in time to see Avalon vanish into the kitchen, rubbing the back of his hood.

Evergray followed her gaze. “Don’t mind him. He and I just had a short…discussion about door manners, and I don’t think he liked how I delivered the lesson. Have a seat. What can I do for you?”

“Gimme a sec…”

Ignoring his confused look, she turned around and fished out what she had come for. Cupping it in her hands, she turned back around.

“I need your help.”

The bowl hit the floor, pasta spilling onto the rug.

“I’d forgotten about ‘im earlier. He fell on me during the battle with Anwir, after his parents got hit by a stray shot that bounced. I have no idea what Anwir was slinging around, but it shot a hole right through them. I snagged him so he didn’t suffer the same fate or get stepped on.” She ran a finger under the little manta’s chin. “Problem is, I have no idea how to take care of one.”

His hands started forward before he caught himself.

“May I?”

“Go ahead.”

Carefully, as if he was handling newly-blown glass, he coaxed the baby into his hands, bringing it up for closer inspection as he sank into the closest chair.

“Hello, little one…” he whispered reverently.

Deep blue eyes studied the Ex-Druid. 

“I don’t believe I’ve seen one of your kind this young before.”

The tiny head tilted, wingtips pittering on his palms.

“Linda!!” Athena yelled, anger tinging her voice. “Meteor, get your tail over here before I singe it off!”

“It’s the only way to stop him!” Linda ducked under a swooping shadow. “I’m almost there!” Freja just about slid over the turf as she made the last push through the seekers to Ydris’ side, her gaze frantically looking for the source of the pain etched into his features. His eyes looked down at her at her hands’ desperate patting, unable to speak as the next thunderous tick had him nearly curl in on himself. 

Freja flinched with him, looking over to the source of the noise. 

“The clock?” She confirmed, gaze wide towards him. He mustered a nod, hissing through the throbbing pain emanating from his chest. 

“Linda, you moron, get out of there!” With her closing in on the Rider pair, the Seekers took Athena to be a fresh target, and split their attack. Not only did it prevent Athena from reaching her goal…it allowed Linda to maneuver more freely.

She turned Meteor towards the seething wall of red and black.

“Come on boy, we’re almost done…”

Spinning ‘Lypso out of the way of a particularly persistent Seeker, Athena realized she wouldn’t make it. Searching for anything that would help, she spied Onyx standing in the thick of the shadows.

Standing completely untouched.

Licking her lips, Athena gave a sharp whistle.

Onyx immediately pricked her ears, casting about for the source of the sound.

“Onyx! Clock!” Athena pointed at the monstrosity sitting on the rump of the laboring Starbreed to make sure there was no miscommunication.

Her tail twitched, locking in on her target as her ears tipped toward Meteor and tracked him to the hoofbeat as she charged through the seekers who parted before her hooves.

The ground shifted and an unearthly gurgling growl shook the big-top into the beginnings of a teeter. Freja caught some of Ydris’ weight as he winced, hissing something under his breath. “Hey, it’s okay. I’ve got you. Just hang on.” She soothed.

The red-head yelped as one of the shadows chasing her latched onto the arm she hadn’t retracted fast enough. “Blasted sonuva-!”

The rest of her cursing was drowned out in a shriek as Linda realized exactly what was bearing down on her at high speed.

“I’m gonna die!!!” she squealed.

Black ears swept back as teeth bared, a touch of red gleaming in Onyx’s eyes. Her heaving breaths nearly drowned out the clock as her back legs tucked under her, sailing over Meteor’s shoulder to avoid his raised head that quickly ducked forward.

Hooves flashed out, smashing the top half of the clock off, nearly knocking Meteor off his feet.

Chipped gears and splinters of wood flew from the impact, peppering the footing of the ring as Linda’s right hip happened to be right in the way of some of the shrapnel.
