"HOW IT STARTED" PHOTO CONTEST

As is our tradition at BC, we start the year with a photo contest because yay!

The theme of our photo contest is a nod to that Twitter trend of 2020, How It Started vs How It's Going.

Select a photo from when you first started LEGO photography and share it alongside a recent or new photo.

You can stack them on top of one another like I did, put them side by side, or add them as separate photos in your post.

Tell us about the progress you made from one point to the next. For example:

How it started:

10 years ago, I started taking quick and easy photos with my phone while I was out running errands or taking my kid to the park.

This (custom!) minifig in grass looking at the camera was typical stuff.

The more I shot, the more I wanted to slow down and be more deliberate.

So when my kid started school, I got a dedicated camera and began shooting, but very importantly not as a side activity. I set out to shoot, not buy bread and shoot.

How it's going:

In this shot of the haunted king, I've upped my storytelling beyond minifig portraits, improved my MOC building, and can shoot just as easily with multiple lights indoors as I can with available light outdoors.

This is the legendary treasure of the restless pirate. Well hidden on a lonely island, it should give every restless person eternal peace and blissful sleep 😴

Carrots instead of glasses 👓 🥕👀

A popular vegetable stand in the city! Here, people who wear glasses queue up to get rid of their glasses.

According to a modern myth, carrots are good for the eyes and those who are enough carrots can see better and do not need glasses.

This is a myth invented by the British in World War II to explain to the enemy why the reconnaissance of their pilots is so much better than that of everyone else. The goal was to hide the existence of their modern radar systems as long as possible.

The myth persists to this day.

Halvar's sword  🗡👑

Once there was a powerful Viking king named Halvar, who was blessed with a mighty sword by the gods to unite all the Viking tribes and create a powerful empire. 

Halvar actually succeeded in uniting the tribes of the north and creating a powerful kingdom. 

This sword was placed with him in his burial chamber after his death, as is customary among the Vikings. 

After his death, the kingdom disintegrated over the years and the tribes sank into ancient strife. 

In the course of the dispute, many of the structures and cities created were destroyed, including Halvar's tomb. 

But the myth about the power of his sword lived on.

Thus, to this day, some search for the tomb and the sword that is said to give its bearer the power to reunite the Viking tribes and help them regain their former greatness.
