Joseph (Joe) Cuzzupoli is the former CEO of Summit Services Group, where he was responsible for the company’s financial and growth strategies. More recently, Joe Cuzzupoli was involved in the transformation of the Inn at Jackson Hole into the Continuum Hotel. The hotel maintains a partnership with Teton Gravity Research (TGR). The trio raised money from their work as commercial fishermen and heli-ski guides to invest in camera equipment. With the equipment secured, they teamed up with another longtime friend, Corey Gavitt, and began documenting the evolution of action sports such as skiing and snowboarding. TGR soon focused on showcasing some of the leading action athletes in the world, leading to the company becoming a driving influence in the world of action sports. Today, TGR continues to produce films to add to its catalog of 32 completed projects. In addition, the group takes an active stance on fan engagement with its film tours, website, and merchandise. TGR also acts as a brand partner for many leading names in the action sports sphere, including Ian Walsh, Angel Collinson, and Jeremy Jones.

Resort & National Park, Jackson Hole Had Rich History
In a November 2019 Forbes article, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort was named one of the best ski resorts in the nation. The resort is some 20 minutes from Jackson town, an upscale enclave near Teton Village, making it attractive real estate. Because of its proximity to the larger Jackson area, other hotels and inns cash in on this area’s appeal, hotels like Four Seasons, Hotel Terra, Teton Mountain Lodge, and now, Continuum. While many enjoy Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and its surrounding areas today, the town has a rich geological and cultural history. The location’s geological description made it ripe for development, with geological forces setting the stage for the area to become a popular resort town. The area is a part of the Teton Mountain range, one of the youngest mountain ranges in the country and one with the oldest rocks. The movement of the land has created a unique landscape created from a sinking valley. This feature makes the mountains appear as if they are jutting out from the ground with a valley covered in sagebrush, resulting from a glacier river washing away sand and silt and leaving cobblestone behind. The first humans did not move into the valley until after the first continental glacier almost 11,000 years ago. Since that time, indigenous tribes camped and established transportation routes throughout the area. The Shoshani, Blackfeet, Crow, Gros Ventre, and Bannock, in particular, hunted wildlife during the summers. By the 1800s, European and American settlers were collecting beaver pelts. Jackson Hole played a role in a few significant events in history. For example, the area was a part of the Lewis & Clark Expedition in 1803. The trip explored the unknown territory that was a part of the Louisiana Purchase, an excursion that started at the Missouri River, traveled across the Rocky Mountains far north of Montana, and moved toward the Pacific Ocean. Scholars state that one of the travelers on the expedition, John Colter, passed through Jackson Hole in 1807 or 1808 while trading fur with the Crow. Traveling during the winter, Colter probably was collecting beaver pelts, so their fur could be used for fashionable hats. After Colter, a string of popular trappers of fur in the West found themselves traveling through the area, for example, trappers such as William Sublette, Jedediah Smith, Jim Bridger, and David Jackson (for which the area is named). While they all traveled to the area, Jackson popularized the area when he spent winters on Jackson Lake shores. The areas within the region got their various names from mountain men who visited the area. Jackson’s fellow traveler, Sublette, described the valley as a “hole” (mountains surrounding a high valley) and referred to the mountain valley as “Jackson’s Hole.” French Canadian trappers came along later and named the three prominent peaks Les Trois Tetons, which eventually became Grand Teton, Middle Teton, and South Teton. Other events that popularized the area were the Hayden Expedition (1871 and 1872) and the creation of Yellowstone National Park. William Henry Jackson, a traveler on the expedition, took photographs of the scenic, pristine natural environment, pictures that convinced the federal government the area needed protection. After becoming the world’s first national park, big game hunters and royalty visited it, making it an even more established vacation destination. Then, the creation of Grand Teton National Park in 1929, which included mountains on the Teton Range and a strip of land containing lakes, was the foundation for it becoming a resort town today. Since its inception, the park has added more land in 1950, making it 485 square miles. Jackson Hole has become an attractive vacation destination for a few reasons, including its mild summers. Skiing is probably its number one draw, but those who visit can view the wildlife and scenery, and take up rafting, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, and fishing. Ultimately, the early days of pioneering and exploration have left a legacy of both leisure, history, and lasting culture.

As young people face the pressures of adolescence, caring adults can help reduce risk factors such as anxiety, stress, and social isolation that pose a threat to children’s mental health and overall well-being. Particularly in families that struggle with challenges, such as unemployment or housing and food insecurity, having a mentor to turn to for support and guidance can make the difference between a child overcoming obstacles or being held back by depression or negative social influences.

While businesses taking on an active role in philanthropy and giving can have an enormous impact in solving society’s greatest problems, long-term commitment to charitable efforts from a corporate strategy perspective also has an intrinsic benefit to companies in terms of publicity and company image, employee engagement, and revenues.
