seungcheol used to be a lot worse in dealing with your dating rumors. a lot worse. the man would be unbearably sulky for days, but he's since moved on to accept that this is part and parcel with the job. nowadays, he still feels a small itch to be dramatic— but at least he does it with your consent. expect him to rival a kdrama lead with all his lines.

jeonghan gets annoyed. of course he does. he's just prideful enough to feel a little off-put by the rumors, especially how you might've played a role in it. he's learned how to cope, though, through the likes of long-winded video essays and multi-part instagram reels. catch him on his burner twitter account, fighting people over their misconceptions about you. (bonus: he's a one-man team who insists you would look good with "the most handsome member of svt, yoon jeonghan.")

joshua's just chronically offline enough to miss the fact that there are any rumors at all. if he's not hearing it from you, he'll be catching wind of it from the boys who show a little bit of concern. but joshua's the first to giggle at all the ludicrous claims because he just thinks they're all so stupid, honestly. his favorite pastime is dissecting and discussing it with you over a meal, where he makes it his personal mission to have you laughing it off by the end of the night.

junhui thinks he's going to die. no, really. for someone who has gotten into dating rumors himself— co-actresses in dramas, you know how it is— he sure doesn't know how to function when it's you that's in the news. he pouts. he whines. he threatens to blow up the headquarters of every single korean gossip site. it will take him a few days to get over it, and even then, he'll narrow his eyes at any mention of your supposed-boyfriend.

soonyoung will try to play up the jealous act. it's a short-lived thing; he's possessive and territorial when it matters, but not over baseless rumors. he finds it easier to jump on your nerves some other ways— like warning you that he may just be snatched away. "can't blame you if you're in love with lee sangyeon," he'll say with a fake, dreamy sigh, just to annoy you. "i think i am now, too."

cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. there's a litany of that in wonwoo's head. an attempt for him to stay sane about these types of things. on the surface, he's nonchalant. at most, he might look a little miffed. but you know him well, and you know that he's the type who will need a lot a little of affirmation because he's always just a little bit on edge at the prospect of losing you. he'll be good as new after an uninterrupted cuddle session.

jihoon's reaction to rumors such as there are relatively predictable. half an eye roll, a sound like a scoff. he's always made it clear, his distaste for gossip-mongers and the like. he keeps everything on the down low— except his feelings for you— so he has no respect for bullshit articles. besides, his heart is in your hands. which is to say: he has full trust that you would let him know if anything about your feelings might change.

seokmin is one bad day away from making good on his threat of breaking your dating news himself. he'll plant information if he has to! he's just a notch below junhui and mingyu when it comes to kicking up a fuss about the rumors. seokmin is easier to appease— a kiss or two here, a couple of sweet words there— but he's also the first to find out any news involving your name. (he'll never tell you, but he has google search notifications toggled for you.)

'a big baby', you call him, and mingyu would rather die than admit you're right. the man talks like the world is ending any time you're remotely linked to someone that's not him. he's the one you'd have to chase after the most. he'll keep his arms crossed over his chest as he grumbles about 'your other men'. he's never been happy about sharing, and he makes it abundantly clear that includes you.

minghao's chief concern, unsurprisingly, will be how you're doing. how have the rumors affected you? do you need anything to get you buy? everything— the boys' comments, his own feelings— fade into background noise as he focuses on your welfare. he's the picture of composure and self-assurance when it comes to your relationship; you've never given him a reason to doubt your loyalty, so why should he?

it's just like seungkwan to go straight to the source— and, no, he's not talking about you. whoever you might be linked to, he's already sliding into their messages to get the 'scoop'. there's a little bit of manipulation here, in how seungkwan will very 'casually' drop that the two of you are actually seeing each other. if this is his roundabout way of staking claim, then so be it.

vernon's nonchalance can be a little bit terrifying sometimes. these are such instances when you're reminded that he's relatively comfortable in your relationship, enough to ask point blank if the rumors are true. this isn't to be mistaken for him being uncaring. there's still a slight twitch in his jaw, a downturn of his lip when some third party is mentioned. at the end of it all, though? he's quick to shrug it off, because the faith he has in you beats out any stupid rumor.

chan has been working overtime to get the two of you in the headlines. he's matched your phone case! he's shared your music on vlive! and yet, he still isn't your supposed boyfriend, according to dispatch? that's what he's the most upset about, really. that his not-so subtle hints have gone largely unnoticed. chan wants to be loud and obvious about his love for you; he's just waiting for the perfect time to drop that bomb.

you have to forego practicing the number during sound check because of course seungcheol will refuse to be there any later. when you do dedicate the song to him, though, he has that expression you would 100% expect. a slightly arched eyebrow, a wide dimpled grin. when he meets you backstage— bouquet of dozen roses in hand— he looks mildly amused, like he can't quite believe the stunt you just pulled off.

jeonghan is equal parts endeared and mortified. on one hand, who wouldn't enjoy having their idol partner so sweetly dedicate a song to them in front of hundreds of people? on another hand: he knows you're slightly teasing him. begrudgingly, he concedes that he deserves it. he'll act all sulky backstage, but that lasts for all of seven minutes before he's giving you a play by play of your concert.

joshua is genuinely stunned when he hears you say his name on stage. he practically melts; the rest of the boys be damned. they tease him relentlessly, later, about the way his face just lights up. about how he had watched the whole thing and practically swooned. backstage, he'll shyly hold your hand and tell you just how much he appreciated the gesture.

junhui is chill, junhui is cool. at least that's the vibe he tries to give off as he watches you sing his favorite song of yours. his hands are steady enough for him to video tape the whole performance, but the moment it ends, he's collapsing back in to his seat. (he needs a moment to collect himself.) it feels like forever before he sees you next, and the very first thing he does is swoop you in to a very dramatic, lift-you-off-your-feet kiss.

trust that soonyoung fights a dozen other fanboys to get barricade, because he'll be damned if he's not front row to your show. it's a good thing, really, that he has the barricade to brace himself against— because he damn near falls over when you dedicate a song to him. for once in his life, he has nothing to say, and so he watches you wide-eyed and mouth agape. that's why his post-concert thoughts are all just a jumble; his brain finally catches up. anticipate a bone-crushing hug backstage.

outwardly, wonwoo is just as he always is. he has his arms crossed over his chest as you perform, and he's looking at you with that mild sense of awe. like he can't believe you're real. afterwards, he doesn't even trust himself enough to meet you in person. when you video call, you see why; the tips of his ear are still red and he's smiling just a little too widely for it to be 'normal' wonwoo. "unfair," he'll huff, but when he laughs, breathless and warm, you know just how much the moment meant to him.

jihoon spends most of the concert off his phone, focusing instead on watching you and enjoying the music. but right after your stage dedicated to him, he sends the briefest of acknowledgements. it's all he can do to keep himself from shedding a tear or two. and, afterwards, he asks for only five minutes— because the two of you are busy people, and he's conscious about how much time of yours that he can ask. and, with whatever time you give him, he just spends it basking in the fact that you're everything to him.

all the boys are bound to kick up a fuss one way or another, but nobody throws a tantrum like choi seungcheol. that man will be on your case for weeks. "why couldn't it have been a love song? why are you so good at singing about breakups?" junhui is equally dramatic, though in a different manner. he goes down the route of spite. the song is officially banned in the dorms. if anyone plays it in his vicinity, he will honest-to-goodness glare them down. as far as he's concerned, you have no reason to be crooning about situationships when you have a perfectly good partner waiting for you at home! mingyu is in the exact same boat, by the way. he is personally offended. he knows he's been a good boyfriend. and you're out here singing like he's broken your heart? oh, hell no. mingyu is going to get ridiculously over the top with his boyfriendisms to prove a point to— well, maybe just to himself. in contrast to the rest, vernon takes a different approach. a little moral high road, if you will. he doesn't whine about it, but he does get— in the other boys' words— 'emo' about the whole thing. an instagram rebrand? frank ocean being one of his top artists of the month? ... you get the picture.

a good number of the boys would take the breakup song with relative grace. joshua is aware that it's strictly work, but he doesn't miss out on the opportunity to tease you a bit about it. he'll take any opportunity to remind you of how much he cares about you, even if it is in a roundabout sort of way. wonwoo usually errs more on the side of rationality, too, though this breakup song scares him just a teensy bit. he doesn't bother you about it; he'll cope in his own little way until he comes around. (he's not opposed to reaffirmations of your love, though.) at this point? soonyoung and seungkwan can be a comedy act, really. we have soonyoung apologizing for every little thing he's done, just so he can ascertain that you will not be writing about him in your next album. and then we have seungkwan who assumes the song is a not-so subliminal message of some sorts; he is immensely relieved when you tell him that you're not, in fact, ending things via comeback. and the sweetest of them all. seokmin doesn't care if it's a four minute song. he'll take apart every single lyric, offering you reassurances that you don't even need, until you have a hard time performing the song with sincerity because your boyfriend has made it much less convincing. meanwhile, minghao spends hours ruminating before just asking outright. he's a bit shy at the fact that he's potentially overthought this, although he'd much rather be overprepared on being a good boyfriend than fall on the other end of the coin.

did you think jeonghan was kidding about couple's therapy? absolutely not. booking a session for the two of you is, in part, a joke, sure. but he's also a believer in therapy, anyway, so it becomes one of your... admittedly weirder dates, but there are certainly worse ways to unpack this non-issue. jihoon and chan stick to what they know best. jihoon's teasing of a 'response' song just means that there's going to be a certain track in the next mini-album that may or may not answer the questions/refute the claims/reassures the worries of your breakup ballad. he's classy that way. chan, on the other hand, has a lot less finesse. he's not so subtle in the way he literally makes up a routine— is it a slow song? he'll do contemporary, then!— and posts it for everyone to see. he needs everyone to know that he is unbothered. flourishing. in his lane.

Doesn’t freak out outwardly, but you can tell something just happened by the way he goes completely still with the cutest stunned smile on his face. He replays the clip a few times because he can’t quite believe it. Immediately gets lost in his head. She said his name so easily like it wasn’t going to ruin him emotionally for the week. He won’t mention it to the other members unless they bring it up first… But the clip is saved/ favorited if that's what the app offers. Suddenly hyper-aware of her group. Starts watching her lives a little more. Mentions her name more often than before. He doesn’t want to seem affected, but it’s all over his face.

ok buckle up bc i’m about to ramble. i had a weird dream where i was living in this apocalyptic volcanic winter type world where an extinction level eruption occurred over the course of several weeks, causing the complete collapse of several countries (and ofc following that, the global economy). anyway, that isn’t even the point of the story; the lava or magma or whatever (idk science and neither do my dreams) increased the overall temp of the planet and it made centuries old glaciers melt, and ancient viruses and shit mixed with the ash in the air and it spread through rainfall and contaminated water systems and caused zombie-like symptoms in infected people so yeah basically the world ends and in my dream, it’s an unknown amount of years later (many bc i wasn’t even around yet when the world ended), and i live in this high tech building that’s like a vertical country and i’m a scientist (even tho that makes no sense bc again i do not know science and neither do my dreams) that finds out the govt has had the cure for several years but has chosen not to distribute it for whatever selfish reason govts usually do that shit for. so like a lot of my weird ass dreams, i would like to write a fic based on it LMAO. and it would be very nice if i could finish it in one go since i feel like the world building will be extensive even if i try my hardest for it not to be :)

it’s not that it didn’t receive feedback bc it did and i’m thankful for every last bit of it, but i honestly just love my ghostface hoshi fic so much, i wish it got as much attention as some of my other work hahaha

10 ⧽. what genre is generally the easiest or most enjoyable for you to write? which is the hardest?

hmmm i think romcom type fics! the ideas for those always play in my head like a movie so it’s comes out a lot easier for me, plus it takes little to no emotional labor on my end (i’ve definitely written fics that had me sobbing on my laptop for hours then needing to take a break from writing altogether for a few weeks LOL). idk if there’s a genre that’s necessarily the hardest, but i struggle a lot with “show don’t tell” bc i tend to be dialogue heavy haha.
