Here are some out of focus shots of a sow grizzly with 2 cubs. It was on the same trip about 1 km down the road from the black bear that was previously posted.
Losing daylight, moving objects, and multiple vehicles driving by combined with the sudden opportunity still makes for a good opportunity.
Over all in that 3 hour drive there were 2 mountain goats, 2 black bears, 3 grizzlies, 2 mule deer, and 8 elk. Pretty good day for a first day with a new lens.

I was driving through Banff on my way home from Calgary after having bought two new lens for my camera. Just as the daylight was fading there was this black bear in some tall grass on the side of the highway. So I pulled over and tried out the new lens. These are not in focus but it was a good time and a sudden opportunity to say the least.
About 1 km further down the road were three grizzlies.

The fly camp.
Over a period of 4 days we set up this fly camp consisting of Arctic Oven Tents 250 kms from the nearest community in the Arctic in Nunavut. I had some issues with lens fog and many of my pictures didn’t turn out because of it. But these ones did.
There were lots of days of blizzards and a couple days of white out conditions. A childhood dream come true.

This is my dad. There could be a book about him and perhaps one day there will be. Born a twin in December 1940 on a farm, he lived with the Cree in northern Ontario in the 1950s. Having worked for the Nova Scotia power company for 30 years from the 1960s to 1990s he eventually became lineman. He has witnessed some shit in his 85 years. He has grown a beard since this photo was taken and looks 10-15 years younger.
