So many people who claim to care about trans issues will see conservative transphobes rave about "cutting off healthy breast tissue" and "girls mutilating themselves," rage or clown on male pregnancy, constantly share post-op photos of top surgery scars and phallo skin grafts to illicit outrage, transvestigate male celebrities to "prove he's secretly a woman"--and then turn around and declare that the Right forgets that trans men and mascs exist. I'm so tired of it.

What she says: I hate antis

What she really means: I don’t mind people disliking a ship for their own reason but the anti-shipping movement is driven by hate and bandwagon bullying to police what people are “allowed” to enjoy. They use fundamentally abusive and manipulative tactics on real people in the name of protecting survivors from speculative things in fiction. Antis want to act morally superior over ship wars and claim that to ship something problematic you must be a survivor. By doing this antis force survivors who may be uncomfortable with coming out with their status to out themselves and then hold them to impossible standards. Except when it does come to survivors who ship anti-deemed problematic things we are attacked, harassed, and then pushed under the bus anyway. Antis trivialize terms such as abuse, rape, and pedophilia by using them so often and out of place against a group made up of many survivors and minors– the people they claim to be protecting. They have bullied and suicide baited artists and other content creators they dislike in the name of “policing the bad ships uwu.” All antis are at fault for this, even if an anti claims not to send hate themselves they are still influencing this bad behavior because they are part of this hate group. The entire anti-shipper movement is a toxic cesspool that makes me feel sick.

It just kills me when writers create franchises where like 95% of the speaking roles are male, then get morally offended that all of the popular ships are gay. It’s like, what did they expect?

Baby aces, please read this as I am seeing these terms swapped out and misused a lot lately.

Sex-negative, sex-neutral, sex-positive. These words are about your cultural perception of sex. What value do you assign to sex in a general sense? Is it something that is dirtybadwrong and should never be talked about or is it a potentially positive experience between two consenting adults? Should we teach kids comprehensive sex ed? What are your attitudes about kink?

Sex-repulsed/ sex-averse, sex-indifferent, sex-favorable. These words are about your personal perception of sex. Does thinking of yourself actually having sex make you feel completely grossed out or just give you an overwhelming sense of "meh"? Would you enjoy it or be willing to do it under certain circumstances or is it just icky and off the table forever?

You can be sex-repulsed and still be sex-positive. Most aces I know are sex-positive!

I've seen the aphobia rising again on tumblr and, obviously, fuck those people forever. Thinking about them is not worth the time or effort. But I do worry this growing trend I see of aces proudly proclaiming they are sex-negative when they probably mean sex-repulsed is contributing to confusion in people who would otherwise be allies. Because that first set of words is common outside of the ace community. If you tell somebody who is active in queer and leftist spaces, but knows next to nothing about asexuality, that you're "sex-negative," they are probably going to jump to very wrong and unfavorable conclusions because sex-negative attitudes are inherently anti-queer.
