9 Queer Mulan Moments That Defined Your Childhood
Mulan is definitely the queerest Disney movies out there. The titular character defies societal expectations, experiments with her gender expression, and develops a complex, queer relationship with her army captain — who proposes to her in the sequel. As a kid, Mulan movie gave me all the feels, so here are eight of my favorite queer moments.
1. Mulan & The Matchmaker Don’t Mesh
Mulan tries to fit into the gender standards for Chinese women who lived during the Northern Wei dynasty (386–534). Unfortunately, she doesn’t make the cut. This scene was definitely jarring, but it showed that sometimes feeling inadequate forces you to think outside of the box and find your true journey. That matchmaker was a hater anyway.

Skins UK and LGBTQ Sexuality
The hit UK coming of age show ran for five seasons from 2007-2013 and really has explored many facets to sexuality and identity for LGBTQ characters and their hetero counterparts in a way that most American TV shows have yet to discover. Each season brings to life a new queer character with their own unique personalities and complexities that give the audience an opportunity to see issues and revelations that many queer people discover in their youth while also also breaking the gay/straight binary by following the straight characters moments to be queered without them having to consequently defend their sexuality to the audience.

Quote
I miss you. I miss not touching each other. Not seeing each other, not breathing in each other. I want you. All the time. No one else.

Exploring lesbian relationships has always been a taboo in Indian cinema, though some earlier films had strong undertones to it. Several of these films serve as veiled critique of patriarchy. Unlike queer male representation over the past two decades, that have peddled stereotypes or allowed actors to use effete ‘gay tics’ to essay their roles, the queer women in this year’s season betray no trace of lesbian typecasting.

jason Shores comment on youtube.com:
“The Way He Looks is the most wonderful movie, had it been around 25 years ago, my coming out would have been less bumpy. I was so scared of people that I didn't put myself out there in highscool. I did date a little, and had fun, but I keep wondering if I would of had that one great young love had I actually had the courage to have been bold and told people how I felt.“

“It's not enough to say that disabled people are sexual. I don't need to shock the uninitiated anymore. Disabled people are sexual. Yes! And disabled people are also romantic, sweet, hot, in love, out of love, hungry, masochistic or sadistic, creative, communicative, desirous. Some of us are even gay (or queer, bi, lesbian, you name it)! We are not these things necessarily because of or in spite of our disabilities. But our disabilities have taught us a lot about how to have a body. And how to have a complicated body that wants complicated things. We are alive, dynamic beings, capable of complex feelings and desires. It is possible for our desires to be numerous, to shift, to change shape, for we are also numerous, diverse, and changing.”- NEVE BE

Seashore (Beira-Mar) - A young man loses his grandfather and makes a trip to his hometown. A close friend tags along for support and they have experiences that help them find themselves. This one was a pretty good watch, it had some random moments, including some camera shots. Some things aren’t really explained but that’s just how it is sometimes. Currently on Netflix.

”i legit thought it was a music video at first, and by that i mean: the transitions were seamless -- the scenes chosen painted a cohesive story, where the lack of dialogue was not a lack at all, and the tune and lyrics worked with the motions of the visuals to create the best kind of aesthetic. 10/10 very smooth and classy“-leukocyteofdoom on youtube.com
