Look around you. And ask yourself, are you settling?
Look around you
And ask yourself are you settling ?
Yes, social media and CardiB are letting us know they are living their best life.
But how do we define : living our best life?

Better yet, what is the act of “living your best life” defined by ?
And who defines living your best life?
Is it a simple summary of all the opportunities you created, seized or let pass by ?
Is it a balance between…

OGYM Fitness Center was my very first sponsor and they have given me the courage to believe that nothing really is impossible and everything can be possible. All we have to do is give it a try! It may seem risky, pointless or impossible but still worth a try! I believe that being surrounded by a great network of people is important, people that believe in you and your crazy ideas. My first thank…

Black Olympian Women: Ashleigh Johnson
If you are watching the Olympics today make sure to keep an eye out for the first EVER African American woman to compete in water polo: Ashleigh Johnson !!! This is her response to being the first African American woman to make the US women’s team:
“Well, people are going to think what they think. When I’m in the water I just think of myself as another player,” said Johnson. “But I definitely want to be in that role where I can be a role model for other black children who love the sport or any children who want to play the sport.”
“I just want to play the sport the way I play it, and be a good representation of how the sport is played.”

She occupies the position of the goalkeeper. What most impressive is that she is doing a psychology major at Princeton University, while also playing water polo for Princeton. So not only is she athletically gifted but she is also an intelligent young woman attending an ivy league university! Clearly she has big dreams and pursues all of them! Go Girl!

USA Water Polo CEO Christopher Ramsey told the Associated Press that Ashleigh Johnson is “the future of our sport in the U.S.” Even though playing on the national team wasn’t originally in her plans, the 6-foot-1 goalie could be the catalyst for Team USA as they try to go for a second straight Olympic gold.

Black Olympian Women: it’s not easy being at the top!
Seeing your favorite Olympian or athlete win is fun but seeing them loose can be a little sad, disappointing or heart breaking at times. For most of us our favorite athletes especially if they are at the Olympics are already individuals that are extremely talented, strong and gifted in their sport. So why is it that when they loose or when they don’t make it to the podium do we feel disappointed? At the end of the day, that one performance does not define who they are as a person, as an athlete or as an Olympian. It’s really what these Olympians, do afterwards their success or their losses that define who they are.
Whether after a victory or a loss, when an athlete is at the top, it’s what they do after their performance that help us see if they have the will, the courage, the intention and the strength to stay at the top. When you’re done winning, it’s not time to relax especially if you have another event waiting. I’m pretty sure that after winning the Wimbledon, that Serena Williams made sure she stayed focus because she knew that she was going to compete at the Olympics and that she had titles she wanted to defend.
Or when you don’t make it to the podium like Jennifer Abel or you don’t get the chance to defend your title like Gabby Douglas, I think it’s important to salute theses athletes for sharing with the world their gift and giving them the love and support they need. The fact that they don’t make it to the podium, or don’t get to the defend their title should just encourage these athletes to learn more, and more forward to progress both mentally and physically in order to seize everyday as a new day, a new opportunity to SLAY in a ‘negativity-free’ zone.

Serena and Venus Williams did not get to defend their title on Sunday. But that’s ok, we’re still PROUD, we still BELIEVE in them and we still LOVE them of course. Why ? Because they OWN TENNIS!

The 3m synchronized diving was a FIERCE competition. Their first 4 synchronized dives was PURE EXCELLENCE and, yes they were ranked 4th but they are still a solid team to be reckoned with and they only missed the podium by less than 1 POINT. #keepyourheadup
You can see the character of a winner in the midst of their failure. Here is what Abel said to social media after missing the podium and acknowledging the fact that she was disappointed:
‘Sometimes we need rough days to realize things. Yesterday was a rough day for me but I am truly thankful to have my coach and my family behind me, and also for all the fans that keep cheering me up. You guys don't understand how much it means to me. I'll be back on Friday for the women's 3m individual with fire in my eyes and ice in my veins.’ -Jennifer Abel

Gabby Douglas did not get a chance to defend her title in the all-around Olympic final, because of the two-per country rule because she finished third highest overall. Here is what Gabby Douglas said on her facebook page after not getting to defend her title:
‘So honored and thankful to be able to represent Team USA! I had an amazing time last night competing with my teammates and I'm so excited for Team Finals and Uneven Bar Finals!!! Thank you to everyone who has supported and cheered me on during this journey!!! I love and deeply appreciate each one of you!!!’ -Gabby Douglas
Last but lost least, the character of a great winner in the midst of failure is always thankful for the team that surrounds them because they enjoy the journey. They will release and overcome the negativity, forgive themselves and find a way to come back stronger and better because it’s the journey and the process that they love not the destination.

Enjoying the journey, win or fail !

Here is what Serena Williams said about her performance in double with her sister Venus: “I wouldn't say it's devastating,”. “We had a chance to compete for our country and we did the best that we can. We had a blast out there. It was a lot of fun and we'll always remember these moments and these matches, and I think that's what matters most. "
"We've had so many Olympic doubles golds, so many grand slam championships. It's been unbelievable.”
