           “hey.” it’s not that he’s not appreciative of their spontaneous reunion, or that he doesn’t want to go for a drink or two ( on, hopefully, the other’s tab ); he merely wishes that these visits would start doing without the destruction of his property ( and consequently, his already-quite-limited patience ). “fuzzbrains. what do you think you’re doing to my door? y’think using a ‘DYNAMIC ENTRY’ in this day and age is still appropriate? you’re gonna pay up for this, aren’t you??”

         “such fretfulness doesn’t suit you, … masa.” oh, although it does; being distraught had come as natural as breathing to this man for the longest of times — although, more recently, it may be more fitting to describe the other’s state as one of focused concern. ( and as reliable as this new side of his was … it was also rather unfun ). he takes a long drag from his flat-headed pipe, then makes it sway up and down ever so lightly between two fingers, much like it is meant as a treat which he is pondering to share. “care for a breather … ? perhaps it’ll help soothe your nerves.”  … the truth is that although masa may sometimes be ill at ease, he has never been impatient, and the thought of this gentle man’s restraints finding their limits was about as uncomfortable as the conversation that’d been looming in the wait. again, unfun, albeit in a slightly different sense.

          —— why, he must be well aware at this point that the samurai’s source of vague distress is no other than himself; that knowledge alone seems to do little to incite some well-placed consideration on his part, however. once again, he hadn’t told his watchful guard what they’d come here for ( because once again, he’d deemed it better that way ). he is a creature of habit in the end, and to place comfort before reason had always been quite practical. “all things end in their due time,” he then adds quietly, voice turning hushed while staying crystal clear all the same as their clients’ footsteps draw closer. 

                 it’s not a promise; though he knows well that it should have been.

      “ eh – ? ”  he watches yaichi leave just as fast as he came in ; his head slowly turns to glance at the unfamiliar faces before he would quietly follow after the other. ( their expressions, that atmosphere. at least it tells him that things did not go over well. though he still isn’t exactly sure what the purpose of the visit was for in the first place. ) as they exit the place and join in the busy crowd, it doesn’t take long for him to break the silence. “ yaichi-dono . . . what was that about ? ”

         “... you could call it a civil disagreement.” it could’ve gone worse, after all ( though he will acknowledge that it also could’ve gone better ). “now let’s make our way out of here before it turns into a less civil one.” it’s thanks to masa, he’s suspecting, that their way through the crowd goes fairly smooth in spite of the bustle that’s plastering the streets. a path seems to open itself right to his feet with the tall man to his back; perhaps because they saw him coming and saw little point to object. ( of course, that also made them rather easy to find, however ). “... aah —” some steps further behind, someone else appeared to be a little less lucky. “... seems like we already got one of their pesky dogs assigned to our heels. what a hassle ...”
