Has anyone ever caught a bolt/tank shell with their bare hands? Without it exploding. Kung-fu movie kind of thing. I think that would be sick but can't remember if I've ever read it happening

Not really, no.

I remember a character from Blood Gorgons (Sabtah, I think) slapping a point blank bolt round to intercept it and blowing his own hand off. Another one smacks rounds fired at him from plague marines out of the air.

A Word Bearer captain in Daemon World dodged and/or caught a bunch of "regular" bullets fired at him from an Obliterator.

It is important to note, though, that the above are considerably dated novels. In modern writing, notably fast/reactive characters tend to either avoid shots wholesale, catch them on their weapons (sometimes breaking the weapons), or angle themselves so that they're hit in less lethal areas.

Most individuals aren't going to want to grab a bolt shell, let alone a tank shell, because you're going to lose a hand/arm 99% of the time. If you're suitably durable, it would be smarter to take a shot in a spot designed to take shots. Your hands and fingers are not that spot. Not that anyone should be taking a tank shell head on, mind you. Medically speaking, tanks shooting at you is not great.

This sounds like a joke or a “I want there to be a Pure and Therapy Speak marine!” But it’s neither, just curiosity if any of them have gotten that far out of the mold

Lots of marines do, actually! That's what chaplains are for. They are spiritual and psychological guides for the chapters. If a marine is having doubts, nightmares, conduct concerns, worries, whatever, they're encouraged to confide in a chaplain about it. Priests and also therapists & guidance counsellors.

Now, obviously, when your therapist is also a space marine, the advice you're going to get is stilted, but it does generally tend to help them. Shared wavelengths and such.

Reminder: "Aroace" is not the umbrella term for aromantics & asexuals.

It only specifically refers to those who are on both spectra simultaneously. The aroace flag also only represents people who are on both spectra simultaneously.

If you mean all aromantics and all asexuals, you need to say something along the lines of "aromantics and asexuals" or "aros & aces". "Aspecs" also exists, though this is not exclusive to aromantics and asexuals, since it also includes everyone who's on at least one atertiary spectrum (aplatonics, afamilials, asensuals, etc)

hey so like i appreciate people using my flag and all, but please stop using it by itself or in conjunction with the aro and ace flags to represent general aspec spaces. it brings unnecessary focus to asexuality and can be really alienating to aros, especially alloaros and other non-ace aros. aroace is just one specific identity within our community - there’s no reason to give us a special focus like that.

edit: it’s been brought to my attention that this post is confusing so here’s an attempt to break it down

if a group says it’s for general aspec stuff, and then represents itself with just the aro, ace, and aroace flags, that’s 1) arophobic because of the way aros are only acknowledged if they’re ace most of the time. it’s extremely alienating to aros who aren’t ace. and 2) why the aroace flag of all flags? aroace is just one aspec identity. it’s not a label that’s meant to cover the broader community. i don’t see how deciding to use the aroace flag in that context is any different from, say, using a non-sam aro or a demisexual flag or something. which isn’t to say these flags should be used instead, but that it’s really weird to use the aroace flag as a uniting symbol of all aspecs. either use more flags or don’t use the aroace flag at all.

How it feels to be queer & disabled:

when abled people talk about employability + disability I don't think they entirely understand the domino effect of unemployment/underemployment that can happen in a disabled person's life

the kinds of jobs that are considered 'unskilled' or 'entry level' are inaccessible for various reasons (e.g. involve having to stand up for long periods of time)

the time in your life when many people are expected to start working these entry level jobs is while you're still in school. the sheer exhaustion of school means that even when those jobs aren't completely inaccessible, many disabled people simply do not have the energy to do them

without any work experience, it's very hard to get work. the kinds of jobs that tend to have more accessible workplaces are either not entry-level or require a certain level of education to enter them. also without having gone through a hiring process before, it's very hard to even know what to expect from a job, which only creates additional barriers

even if you do have work experience, being disabled is not really taken as a valid reason to have gaps in your resume, which means you immediately look like a suspicious/risky hire to a HR department

disabled people, once we do have jobs, are more likely to be underemployed than abled people, meaning that we have fewer opportunities to demonstrate our skills in the workplace, and are less likely to be able to accumulate a back catalogue of good references to take with us in the 'getting a new job' mission. this itself keeps us underemployed

NOT to mention the fact that the exact same process can happen with respect to education (the being in special ed -> being able to go to university pipeline is basically non-existent. and if it is there, it is very hard to navigate). I'm not sure yet another 'employable skills program' can get us out of this one, chief

A guy whose palace was being sieged by Dark Angels made a deal with a Keeper of Secrets for a "powerful artifact" to "end the siege". The Keeper of Secrets was in fact the Changeling in disguise, and handed the dude the Ravenwing's teleport homer, which he promptly activated.

Trazyn got a planet exterminatus'd because he let out a genestealer on it to kill Orikan, and then they both completely forgot about it for centuries, leading to a cult overtaking the planet.

Guilliman, while he's consigned to the Armour of Fate, knocks his papers all over the desk and floor and then bitches to Cato Sicarius about being defeated by sheafs of paper.

Asdrubel Vect took out three rival houses by antagonising the Imperium and capturing the astartes cruiser that came to inspect the situation. He then let one of said rivals take the cruiser, knowing full well there was a librarian on board transmitting their location. Conveniently, a shitload of Salamanders were able to breach into Commorragh via that signal, literally ran over the first rival in another cruiser, and then killed the other two during their entirely miraculous and not at all suspicious escape back into realspace.

Finally, Warboss Ufthak Blackhawk won a Commorragh arena fight against a space marine by picking him up by the leg and yeeting him into the stands, where the astartes promptly started attacking everyone.
