doin edits
part of my horror novel process is i write the book then leave it in a spooky drawer for a year and then when its time for book to come out i read it again and do edits. that way i get a READERS perspective of my own work. anyway best feeling is when you return and realize 'whoa, this is so good'
anyway that is feeling i am getting right now, no longer in the muck of creation just returning as an outsider and getting to go 'DANG okay buckaroo what a trot you crafted for your future self.' VERY EXCITING
also, the spooky drawer is in your heart and mind, not a physical place, so yes everyone has one
#this is also literally the story of how I decided as a 13 year old that I could in fact be a writer#cuz I always threw my shit out immediately cuz like pshhh im not actually a writer and everything is bad and embarrassing#but then I was also an adhd goblin and lost my notebook for half a year under idk a pile of stinky clothes or something#finally did a room cleaning day and found that notebook#like no joke I literally cried reading that notebook cuz I was like holy shit if I picked this up in a store I’d totes buy this book#still never actually finished that particular novel#but it taught me the importance of waiting to come back with fresh eyes#literally could only let myself call myself a writer by approaching my story as a reader
