JTC/American Airlines Mentoring Impact: “The Bridge”Are You Proud Of Your Career Choice? I AM!! I had the privilege this morning to share my job duties on “Career Day” at a Elementary school in Irving Tx. Wow, what a great time it was. I taught 1st and 4th graders the importance of Teamwork, Following Directions, and my role with American Airlines. Some of my co-workers will mention how good things use to be at my job. That is their perspective! For me, my job keeps getting better and better. One of the things I have learned over the years is that it is not about my job as much as it is about my mindset and how I see the opportunity I have been blessed with!! I will let that one simmer!! Big thanks to my Bosses and Supervisors for giving me the approval to represent American Airlines! That is not taken lightly. I remain thankful and Proud for my career choice. I am living my best years!! JTC Mentoring Highlight: Before I went to work Yesterday, I stopped by the school for a lesson on 3/30/23 that was titled “Does Money Bring Happiness? This was a question I posed to my students and it was interesting to here their responses. Some said YES! You can but what you want. I said so what do you do after you buy all the cars, houses etc etc etc?? He said, that is it for life. So my reply was that then money “In and of itself” does not bring happiness. Another student said it does not bring happiness! I said why not?? She said people will use it, but to cover up deeper issues!! So I said that you are saying that money can be like putting a bandage on a cut that won’t heal?? She said exactly!! Once you spend the money, the problem is still there. Conclusion: Money is nothing more than a “TOOL”! We all need it in order to live and handle our business affairs. However we are to use money and not let money use us. The money is the tool, not us. The moment when money “In and of itself” starts to use us is when we set ourselves up for disaster. Example: 1. We start looking down at others who have less than us. 2. Now we walk around with such arrogance that our presence stinks. 3. You think you can get away with anything. 4. Your attitude begins to suck! These are just a few!! Point: THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MONEY. MONEY JUST TAKES ON THE CHARACTER OF WHOS HAND IT IS IN!!! People have allowed their distorted view of money to destroy relationships, break up families, ruin business etc etc etc. I said if money was the key to happiness, why are so many rich people overdosing on drugs, having nasty divorces, their homes are a mess, their children all off the chain many are very ungrateful even though they have so much stuff. That is part of the issue, they don’t really have Stuff, The Stuff has Them!! They have changed in a negative way because of the resources they have. Use money for good, don’t let money use You!! JTC Mentoring Highlight: Todays lesson 3/8/23 was titled “Respect”. What does respect mean to you? How do you get respect? Do you have to earn it? What do people say about you when your name comes up? When you ask somebody to be a reference for you, do they have to lie? These were some of the questions we talked about in class today. The conclusion was to become better at the things we do well that may earn respect(Hard worker, being humble, Honest etc). The things we mentioned that needed work on was (Being Lazy, Always Late, Not paying attention, Dishonest, A Know it all etc). These things will cause others to not respect us. Continue to examine yourself and have others around you that will encourage you to become the best you you can possibly be!! You are worth it !!
