How do I find my own artistic Style?
I think just a lot of Practice & Patience - constant exploration. I think finding your style is sort of finding the mid point of what comes out naturally, and what you wish your style looked like... What youâre aspiring to. Itâs just about working through both things in real time, and spending a lot of time and challenging yourself until you find something that feels true to you.Â

What agency did you start with as advice for a recent film graduate ?
Hey! So i actually put off signing with an Agency for a really long time (almost 3 years) as i had a lot of caution when approaching the âindustryâ side of being an artist / director / commercial photographer, and didnât really feel i needed it - i wanted to learn how to do as much as possible myself, so i knew what to ask for, and how that side works before allowing someone else to handle it for you.For the purpose of the advice below Iâm making the assumption here that you want to work somewhat in the fashion/music/commercial world as the Gallery world for fine art stuff is a bit different. l would recommend to start by looking at the photographers you like, or videographers, and seeing what agencies theyâre signed to - that will help you track down some agencies you might fit well with! I would also reccomend to be open when looking at agencies, as itâs really a relationship - your creative and career goals should be alligned, you should like the people at the agency on a personal and human level as well, as youâll be in communication with them a lot, and you need to trust them, and in turn be as reliable as you can be. Personally i would recommend not rushing into an agency, unless it is one you love. But it really just depends on what youâre hoping to achieve by being signed, and what your expectations / hopes are for an agency. When it comes to contracts as well - be very vigilent and look over it with someone else as well. So to sum up 1) do some research on the photo/video people you look up to see what agencies they are with 2) do some research on the agencies you find to help you figure out which ones you love, and would aspire to be with. 3) identify your goals for having an agency - are you hoping to get big jobs for Fashion brands? Are you hoping to shoot music videos? Make movies? Do you just need help figuring out financial rates? Do you want your work to be shown in galleries as well?Sometimes agencies will reach out to you, but it also doesnât hurt to send a friendly âhey, iâd really appreciate it if you could check out my workâ kinda email. If itâs ever possible - meeting people in person is ALWAYS better. Hope this helps! Best,J
