Synthesis
Poverty, affects the people especially the families with low-income and discussed how poverty affects the children’s health and how is every family’s standard of living in the community. I also found out how critical for the children to grow in poverty and how the health sector should react to this kind of issue because health sector should always provide help for this kind of issue especially when it comes to health because there are some families who needs a lot of assistance because they are lack of income. Children must be given the best possible in life however there are opportunities that are often unavailable especially from low-income families.
Gender Equality, the state of equal ease of access to resources and opportunities regardless of gender, including economic participation and decision-making and the state of valuing different behaviors, aspirations and needs equally, regardless of gender. The slowdown on some indicators and stall on others suggests that further progress requires substantial institutional and cultural change. Progress may require increases in men’s participation in household and care work, governmental provision of child care, and adoption by employers of policies that reduce gender discrimination and help both men and women combine jobs with family care responsibilities.
Gender equality has to do with poverty, simply put the inequalities between men and women. Providing equal opportunities for women lets them use their talents in the workforce and make better choices for themselves, their families and communities which can help lessen the global effect of poverty simply because if there is gender equality some people can find a job that suits their abilities or skills and they don’t have to face discrimination. When they can find a job, especially those low-income parents, they can support their child, they can provide food and other needs of their child which can lessen the issue of poverty in the different country in the world. A lot of country are facing poverty and gender inequality in these times. Gender inequality should be stop by now because it has a lot of effect especially poverty and discrimination. Providing equal opportunities to women can also make humanitarian aid more effective.
The collective reflection on these pieces of information from the texts can be helpful to me by understanding and knowing the causes and effects of poverty and gender equality to the people and how much it can affect especially to the children and to each one of us. Through these texts I can understand better that even what your identity, what type of people you are (poor or rich) all of us are still equal because all of us has the right to speak ourselves and we all have the right to be part of the society no matter who or what you are.

GENDER EQUALITY
Title of the Text:
Progress toward gender equality in the United States has slowed or stalled
Author (s) of the Text:

Title of the Journal/Publication:
2020 National Academy of Sciences Online ISSN 1091-6490
Main Idea: Analyzing substantial reductions in gender inequality on all indicators. However, on every indicator considered, women’s progress relative to men has slowed, and in some case except educational attainment, where women are now ahead of men, a slowdown or stall has occurred at a time when there was still substantial gender inequality favoring men.
-2000 when the percentage of women who are employed reached its highest point to date of 75%; it was slightly lower at 73% in 2018. Women have surpassed men in receipt of baccalaureate and doctoral degrees. The degree of segregation of fields of study declined dramatically in the 1970s and 1980s, but little since then.
-Results are employment, educational attainment which strongly affects earnings, it is important for gender equality in earnings.

POVERTY
Title of the Text:

Author (s) of the article:
Rita Paul-Sen Gupta, MSc, Margaret L de Wit, PhD, and David McKeown, MDCM MHSc FRCPC
Title of the Journal/Publication:

Main Idea: Child poverty is not only an economic or political problem but also an ethical issue and a matter of social justice and the health sector should provide services to mitigate the health effects of poverty, in collaboration with the other sectors to advance healthy public policy.
- Consequences of poverty on childhood health and these are: birth outcomes, asthma, overweight and obesity, injuries, children’s mental health, functional health, and readiness to learn.
-Despite a unanimous house of Commons resolution in 1989 to end child poverty in Canada by the year 2000, significant numbers of Canada’s children aged zero to six years continue to live in low-income families.
- In 1996, Canada’s infant mortality rate in the lowest-income urban neighborhoods was 66% higher than in the highest-income urban neighborhoods.
