The Mission Of The Eugene Mission
Do you know the mission of the Eugene Mission?
Junk Munkiez LLC took a tour today and learned a few things.
The Eugene Mission isn't just a homeless shelter, it's a wellness center for the homeless.
Their goal isn't just to provide shelter and food but to also help individuals get clean off drugs, provide counseling, and get them off the streets within 6 months!
In fact, over the decades, Eugene Mission has learned that just providing shelter and letting individuals in that have no intention of getting clean can negatively affect 10 other addicts who are "white-knuckling" it to get clean and will not allow those individuals who test positive for drugs in their doors.
They're currently housing up to 400 men, women and children. 90% of which have mental disorders and 60% that are battling some sort of drug addiction!
If you're interested in helping by either volunteering or donating, check out the pictures below.
Happy holidays!

So shortly after being interviewed by KMTR NBC 16's reporter Kelsey Christensen. I realized I totally forgot to ask if I could get a picture with her. I texted to see if she'd be willing to meet up and she was totally cool about it! Wow, what a cool reporter! Thanks Kelsey! Have you seen her in action? I think Kelsey is going places! Seriously. Watch her reels.😎 https://kelseychristensen1.wixsite.com/kelseyreports

Moving? Don’t Let The Landlord Keep Your Security Deposit!
Hey Oregonians, moving to a new pad? Great, hopefully you're next journey in life will be a memory worth cherishing!
If you rented, the security deposit you put down in the place you're moving out of can be useful when moving into your new place. Having those additional funds available will definitely allow your departure to be smoother.
Unfortunately though, many lose out on the money that's actually theirs for simply not cleaning out the rental of their junk. Landlords have the legal right to keep your security deposit if you fail to satisfy their move out checklist.
So many procrastinate to the last minute when it comes to planning their move. Understandably too. Moving is stressful!
What really becomes overwhelming is once you've jammed your moving vehicle to the brim and yet you still have a garage or bedroom full of stuff. Maybe more. Some of it could possibly be sold but you simply DON'T have the time! You're expected to be out in a few days and your friends suddenly become "busy."
You panic and decide to leave, knowing you'll lose the security deposit. How much was it? Over a thousand? Ouch! You could of easily got that deposit back if you would've cleared the house out of the debris.
You may justify it in your head by telling yourself, "oh well, I just didn't have the time." In reality, you could've called a junk removal service to clean it up. The service isn't necessarily cheap, most jobs average around $300 in the Eugene area but if it means getting a $1,000+ security deposit back then its money well spent?
If you're eco conscious you'll be relieved to know most hauling services will do their best to donate and/or recycle as much of your junk as possible.

Are You A Hoarder?
Are you a hoarder?
Some people jokingly say they are but for some it's a serious mental disorder and need help from psychologists to defeat the issue.
Some allow it to get so out of control that they physically can no longer live in their home. They've literally packed their home to the ceiling. Once the home can no longer hold any more belongings they'll start filling their yard with what they consider useful items.
This undoubtedly attracts negative attention from neighbors who eventually complain to the city about it. Once it catches the attention of the code enforcement office you'll be forced to deal with the issue soon or else they can start fining you and eventually even put a lien on the property.
Although some hoarders may believe it's not any of their neighbors business what they have on their property it does have a direct impact on them. Hoarding your property to the point it is visible from outside decreases the value of homes around it. Nobody likes living in a neighborhood that looks "trashy."
Another issue is pest infestations. Storing belongings outside inevitably attracts rodents, vermin, and insects. This of course can cause health issues not only to the hoarder but the neighboring homes.
Do you think you may have an issue with hoarding? You don't have to deal with this alone! You can get help. First, Find a therapist that can help you defeat the urge to hold onto things.
Second, decide how you'll start riding yourself of your junk. You can rent box vans and dump trailers if you want to do it yourself. You can also call a junk removal and hauling service.
Calling in professionals is usually the best route. Trying to haul away junk yourself will be mentally strenuous as you will over think about every object you throw away.
It's time to put your hoarding behind you and feel the relief by freeing yourself from your belongings!
"The things you own end up owning you." -Chuck Palahniuk

Happiness
What gives us happiness? Is it stuff? Like cars, clothes, and homes. Some people seem to think so. Corporations that sell consumer products especially want you to think so.
Something I've noticed though is that obtaining to much can have the opposite effect. In fact, I see people that become overwhelmed with stress by their own belongings. Especially when they've developed a hoarding disorder.
Somewhere in their mind they believe that item can be used for something around the house, sold, or given to a family member or friend. Knowing the retail value on a item can really heighten this need to hold onto to things. But guess what. Most of us never get around to using that item, selling it, or giving it to that special someone. Oh and the retail value? The retail value is often made up. Don't believe me? Go to any second hand shop and you'll see a variety of brand name items, often in perfect condition, being sold 5 times cheaper.
When letting consumerism control us it can get out of control. Before we know it, we have hundreds, sometimes thousands of items lying around the house consuming our space. Perhaps even your life. Studies have shown that people who spend their time and money on experiences tend to report living happier and more satisfied lives than those who prioritize materialism.
Seems to make sense too. Think about it. When you're lying on your death bed and reminiscing your life will you be cherishing the time you bought that new smart phone or will you cherish the time you took that trip with your family on that awesome vacation get away?
I've done countless amount of jobs where I haul away stuff that most would consider junk but what's funny is that piece of "junk" was once a "hot item" a piece many would spend good money on. Inevitably though, technology improves and fashions change. Products we once thought would solve our problems now become our problem.
It's time to move and all that stuff that's been collecting in that spare bedroom and garage now have to be removed. You only got a few days to decide what to do with it and finally decide that the only way to relieve yourself from the stress is to just throw it away. But how? It won't fit in your garbage can! You don't have a truck but hey you could always rent a box truck. Wait, no time for that, you've got to prioritize your time and energy for the stuff you want to keep. The clocks ticking and the pressure is building on what to do with all that junk! That's where we come in! With a simple call or text you can schedule an appointment for a free estimate and watch your stress be hauled away.
If you're tired of seeing, hearing, and speaking about your junk then call us now at (541)337-0619.
