A Cookie Run custom cookie, Kue Lapis Cookie. Originally drawn: 23 June 2021

Artist’s comments: The other half of the “kue lapis duo”, Kue Lapis Cookie! I wasn’t sure what type of kue lapis I wanted to go with for her colourscheme, the green and white (and sometimes red) type I remember the most, or the rainbow type. I decided in the end to incorporate both types in a way, her clothing being the green-white-red type and the hair ribbons being the rainbow type. Like how Spekkoek is based on sleep and the mythological character of Sandman/Klas Vaak, Kue Lapis is based off dreams and mythological creatures as well, specifically: 1. The Indonesian demon witch queen Rangda, hence her demon horns and fangs, as well as her former allegiance to Dark Enchantress Cookie. 2. The Japanese yokai, baku, which are traditionally depicted as tapirs that can eat dreams, hence her pet and her abilities. She’s gone through a minor design change between me making her character sheet and today, but it’s mostly just moving her horns from the side of her head to through her bangs, as seen in the bean plushie doodle from 28 July 2021.

A Cookie Run custom cookie, Spekkoek Cookie.

Artist comments: So I got into the funny cookie running and jumping game a while back because of some friends. I only recently made OCs for them though. Spekkoek Cookie is my first one, and I had the concept of him on mind for a while. He might need a bit of a design touch up though wwwww

Spekkoek (or kue lapis legit) is one of my favourite childhood desserts, I remember my relatives bringing it over from Indonesia and savouring slices of it over the months that followed. It takes a remarkably long time to make all the layers of the cake, so I decided that I would incorporate that into this cookie’s character. Being both a very old cookie as well as a hard worker. In addition, he’s inspired by the concept of the Sandman, hence his abilities.

can you give me tips on how you did contour lines?

if it a quick sketch I just draw the contour line? or shading it just draw the line direction go in the same way.

if for a more complex version of shading...

I just do a cross line to make a texture or darker shade

it actually similar to how to color the picture in grayscale.

I not great at explaining so hope this not making you more confused.

Artist comments: I was a little nervous posting this doodle here, since even though it’s based on a canon character, it’s sort of also based on an AU of the original media...

In any case, this is a piece I enjoyed making, so it goes up here. Gabe’s got fluffy hair as is, wouldn’t it just get even fluffier? Could do with a haircut though.

A late night doodle I did of Tomoe Tachibana while waiting for a game to load properly.

Artist’s comments: I wholeheartedly blame a certain member of The Medicine Corner discord for convincing me that Tomoe is simpable, she’s a great character and pretty fun to sketch! The vibrant purple here was from a swatch of vaporwave-y style colours, but I find that doing these sketches with a single colour is quite fun and eases the pressure I often put myself under to make “good art”. It also helps with training your skills with layering and values, which certainly does help when you work on fully coloured works. The brush set I used for this and a couple other doodles that I’ll post certainly helped with its analogue feel. 

Still, a lot of work to be done in the future. OTL
