Lately I finally read Geneviève Massignon's Folktales of France, a folktale collection that I recomend to everyone interested in French fairy tales collected after the French Revolution, or just tales collected by women.
One of my favorite tales from the book was The Orange Tree. It starts similar to Grimm's The Golden Bird or Afanasiev's Tsarevich Iván, the Firebird and the Grey Wolf. A Marquis has an Orange tree, and every morning an orange is missing. To catch the thief every night one of the marquis' three sons watches over the garden, but only the youngest discovers who's the thief.

Mindless is the theme of Inktober's second day. The Golden Goose has been one of my favourite fairy tales since I was just a little kid, but as I grow up I realised is a tale full of mindless people. Mindless the protagonist, who apparently didn't mind all the people stuck to his golden goose; mindless the inkeeper's three daughters, who because of their greed got stuck to the golden goose; mindless the priest, the sexton and the peasents who tried to help the innkeeper's daughters and got stuck as well; or even mindless the protagonist's two elder brothers, who didn't share their food with the grey dwarf and for their selfishness were injured while cutting wood.

Inspired by Grimm’s fairy tale The Summer and Winter Garden (Vom den Sommer- und Wintergarten), that was included in the first edition of their collection, published in 1812, but in later editions was omitted because the brothers Grimm judged it too similar to Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont’s Beauty and the Beast.
In this tale the Beast’s garden is divided into two halves, one in where is always winter and is covered by snow, and the other in where is always summer and all kinds of flowers bloom

Charles Perrault’s Donkeyskin (Peau d’Ânne) has always been one of my favoruite fairy tales.
This is my interpretation that what happens when the princess goes to her Fairy Godmother’s cave asking for help after knowing his father’s intentions. After telling it, the princess breaks down into tears, admitting she’s desprated, afraid and frustrated. And the Fairy Godmother gaves her what no one else did, emotional support.
