The most annoying thing about people who believe Father is in any way a good parent is that his abuse isn’t even like. Subtext. It’s in your face

Father doesn’t do anything for the DCFDTL because he cares about them, he does it to gloat his own power. He doesn’t make the elaborate cakes every birthday because he thinks the DCFDTL deserve it, it’s to make other children miserable that they cannot have it as good as the DCFDTL do. This is, I think, most evident in CAKED FIVE when Father makes the DC’s birthday ice cream cake and the second part of his plan is to destroy the rest of the ice cream in the world. He doesn’t give to the DC because he cares about them, he gives because it takes away from everyone else

Even in his introduction in GROW UP, the establishing character moment for him is that the DC are scared of him. He’s an intimidating authority parental figure that threatens his children. This is all blatant. He is blatantly an abusive parent

And it’s not like he’s hiding the fact he doesn’t care about them. In GRADUATES, when they get turned into sheep, he still won’t turn off the animalisation ray because he finds them annoying and prefers them as sheep. If that isn’t in your face I don’t know what is

And the thing is, even if Father did care about them DC, he still wouldn’t be a good parent. Because they aren’t his kids, they’re kids he kidnapped and irreversibly brainwashed into being an obedient hive mind. No matter how nice he could’ve acted after that, there’s no way he’d be a good parent because the only time he is a parent is when the children have been completely stripped of their autonomy
