One Nightmare, Two Solutions

A/N: HOOOOH man okay so I went back through all the videos in my moonknight tiktok collection, missed by boys and,,,,, felt like getting angsty with my writing‼️ I’ve never been this sad with my stuff but,,, I guess it doesn’t hurt to try something new 😭 and don’t worry, I do plan on making a second part that’s all sweet n wholesome :) I was just really curious about trying out angst with my writing for once and seeing how it would turn out, hope you guys like <3

“Mom said not to when it’s raining.”

“It’ll be fine, don’t be a baby.”

The voices of two boys that were briefly drowned out by the sound of rushing water.

“Help!”

“Mom! I want my mommy!”

“Randall?! Randall!

“Marc?! Marc, where are-!?”

A third deep breath in before plunging down underneath the water, only this time to never to come back up again.

“I shouldn’t have brought him in that cave, I shouldn’t have…”

“I know that you enjoy the work I have for you.”

The swift *shing* sound of a crescent being unsheathed before getting stabbed into flesh.

“Kept wishing I’d fail, and one of them would kill me instead.”

“Wait! Wait!”

A thud as Steven fell to his knees, sand flying up around him slightly at the impact.

“Stop the boat! Stop the boat!”

“Marc..!”

An elongated but useless cry for help as he turned into a lifeless statue.

“The healing ended up being a curse.”

Blows landing. Grunts of pain.

“Did you kill Abdullah El-Faouly..?!”

“Of course not, of course I didn’t!”

“But…”

A look of hurt, disappointment and disgust on his wife’s face, all at once.

“You were there…”

“You were always jealous of him.”

“You were supposed to keep him safe..!”

“You were just a child. It wasn’t-“

“-your fault..!”

His friend’s words cut off by an unforgiving mother. The smack of leather against skin, a shriek of a hurt little boy.

“This is all… YOUR FAULT.”

All the overlapping noises were finally overcome by a scream of terror, Marc practically launching to sit upright on his bed.

He was suffocating, breathing heavily and very uncoordinatedly too, boiling hot and drenched in sweat.

All the noises were still echoing in his mind, he could barely hear his own words as he called out.

“Guh- Guys..? GUYS?!” The avatar yelled, crying out for who he believed were the solutions to easing his distress.

Marc could hardly get a grip on himself, like he didn’t know where he was as his eyes darted around his room. All the while panicked yelps interrupted his breathing.

He had to grab onto something. Anything.

His hands gripped the covers, and he instantly let go, letting out an upset whine of disgust at how the fabric made his hands more clammy than they already were, flapping his hands as if trying to shake the feeling away.

He balled his hands into fists, but that didn’t help either, an anxious growl of annoyance following.

So then he gripped his biceps, digging his nails firmly into them. While it slightly assisted in stimulating his hands urges to hold something, it hurt like hell, not that he thought it wasn’t what he deserved at that moment.

“Marc? What’s going on, mate?”

Then, the door swung open. And there stood Marc’s counterparts, who had tripped over themselves to his door, half asleep. But the sight of Marc snapped them wide awake.

Zoned out, panting, grasping onto his arms.

Jake was positive that if Marc didn’t ease up on his grip, it wouldn’t be long before he broke the skin.

“Jesus..!”

“Oh god, Marc..!”

The two rushed over, kneeling by both sides of their triggered friend, trying to get him to make eye contact.

“Hey, what’s going on..?”

“Marc? Marc, can you hear us?!”

Steven was clearly more panicked and unsure of what to do when he didn’t get a response from Marc.

Meanwhile, Jake was trying to pry Marc’s hands from his arms.

“Marc, please. Let go.”

“N-No, no!” He whimpered, stubbornly digging his nails in again.

“Right, Steven, fetch a glass of water, will ya?”

“Bloody hell, okay..!” Steven stammered, getting up from the bed and stumbling to the kitchen.

However, Marc noticed this, and a frozen face of stone in the Duat flashed through his mind again.

“Marc..!”

The cry repeated in his head.

“St-Steven..? Steven, WAIT!” Marc demanded, releasing his arms and messily shuffling as if to get up and hurry after him.

But Jake had taken a caring but firm hold of his wrists, limiting his movements and stopping him from causing any more harm to himself.

“NO! I nee.. I need to-!”

“Marc, he’s not going anywhere. And neither am I.”

“I- I gotta get to Steven..!” Marc cried, holding his fists up and trying to get up from his bed, but Jake’s hold didn’t falter.

“Marc, look at me.”

The quivering avatar’s breathing, while still shaky and unsteady, slightly calmed as he finally looked Jake in the eyes.

“Nothings gonna happen to him. I promise. We’re both here.”

And just like that, Marc broke. He went limp, his face nuzzling into Jake’s shoulder as pained sobs began to spill through his clenched teeth.

“Oh, god..!”

Jake frowned, softly releasing his brother’s wrists and wrapping one arm around his shoulders, his free hand gently placed on the back of his head.

“It’s alright, buddy. I’m right here, let it out.”

Marc took much needed gulps of air between his weeping, enveloping his arms around Jake’s shoulders and gripping onto his shirt. To his surprise, the fabric of Jake’s shirt felt a lot better on his hands compared to that of his bed covers.

“I c… I can’t…”

“Sshh, shh… It’s okay, hermano.” Jake muttered, not caring that his clothes were getting stained with tears and clutched in an iron grip.

Then, the door slowly creaked open, and in walked Steven, with a glass of ice-cold water.

His heart shattered at the sound of Marc’s muffled sobs with hiccups beginning to interject.

“Cálmate, Marc. Breathe.” Jake muttered, rubbing his friend’s back. Marc did his best to stabilise his breathing and breathe in time with Jake, but his crying made it a difficult task.

Steven put the glass on the bedside table, clambering on the bed and sitting on his knees behind Marc. He then wrapped his arms around Marc’s torso, resting his head on his back.

“Don’t worry, mate. I’m here to help too...” The Brit whispered, his own eyes watering slightly over his brother’s situation. Jake brought a hand down to ruffle Steven’s hair for a brief moment of comfort, before going straight back to holding Marc.

The three simply stayed in that position for a while, the only sounds being Marc’s trembling breath, sobs and hiccups, with the occasional sniff from Steven. But gradually, Marc was starting to calm down a bit.

“You holding up a little better now?” Jake questioned, looking down at Marc. The avatar nodded, his grip on Jake’s shirt looser than it was before.

“Mhm…” Marc hiccuped again, sniffling and keeping his face buried in his shirt.

“Take your time. You talk to us whenever you’re ready, yeah?” Steven mentioned, giving Marc a tiny pat on his side. Marc had finally felt himself fully relax, but he didn’t want to move from his position just yet. So he stayed where he was, allowing his brothers to comfort him, feeling as grateful as ever for those two.

“Thanks…”

imagine jake teaching you spanish and you struggle on how to pronounce a specific word, being annoyed. seeing that, jake decides to “put a smile on your face” while tickling you and repeating the way the word has to be pronounced. he changes tactics for every syllable until you get it right, always keeping you on your tippy toes. Then after when you learn the correct saying and use it while speaking to yourself or one of the moon boys to practice further, you can’t help but blush a little when you see jake in the corner, winking an eye at you. -⭐️
