I've been working bonkers hours lately but that's not gonna stop me from sketching some of my favorite ladies. Image ID in the alt text!

The Whistle

Once it was discovered just how much whistles could affect the zombies nearly every runner was given one. While some just carried them in a pocket or their bag, runner Five decided to tie some old string around it and keep it as a necklace. Some days they didn’t use it because of the sensory issues it would cause, but other days…

“-and you turn this part here to close it back up,” Edd finished explaining. Five sat with Molly on their lap, watching as he turned one of the pieces. “You get all that?” Five brought the whistle up to their lips and gave a short confirmation blow which made Molly start giggling. Just as Edd finished up and turned back to them, Sarah walked up.

“There you are Five.” Five gave two short blows in greeting, turning away slightly so Molly wouldn’t grab the whistle. “I'm afraid I have to borrow you away from Edd and Miss Molly there.” Five glanced at her slightly confused before handing Molly to Edd. “Don’t worry, you’re not in trouble or anything,” Sarah reassured as the pair walked. “I just have a bit of a surprise for you.”

They walked to one of the main courtyards and Five saw Sam, Janine, Eugene, and Jack waiting there, with Sam holding a box in his hands. Five leaned their head to the side, watching them curiously.

“We’ve all noticed how hard you work around here Five and we wanted to-” Janine started before being cut off by Sam.

“We got you something Five!” Five smiled at the interruption before approaching the box.

After a glare at Sam, Janine continued. “Yes. If Mr. Yao could hold his excitement for a moment. All of us have noticed how much you appreciate that whistle there, so when Sarah found this out on a run we knew who to give it to.”

Sam opened the box to reveal a small whistle that had an engraving of a cat at one end. Five’s eyes lit up with excitement and they quickly took off their current one before carefully lifting the whistle from the box and putting it on. “Well? Don’t leave us in suspense. How does it sound?” Jack asked. Five slowly brought the whistle to their mouth before blowing on it softly. The sound it made was similar to a happy bird. Five trilled happily at the noise, making everyone grin.

“There you are Five! Your very own whistle.”

(this is a whistle that I found online that inspired this story)

Well, I got three audio clips in this time before my foot started screaming at me. I think half an hour is my max for now so I’ll have to change the times of my run. Archie is still in danger but I will save her, it just might have to be tomorrow

Well this is an interesting experience. Never before have I wanted to workout and been unable to. I’ve been having a pain in my foot but decided I could probably run anyways. I got just past the first voice clip before calling it because I could barely walk. Most likely I’ll be fine, it’s just a funny experience to me

I will 100% of the time talk back to them. It’s the main reason I can’t workout with my mom around, because I don’t want her to hear me say things like “what am I supposed to do with a baby?” and “will everyone calm down for FIVE SECONDS”

I recently got into running. Doing cardio twice a day just to feel better in general and Zombies, Run has been a life saver because running is SO boring. Does anyone else talk back to the characters as they talk to Runner5? Because it’s a good thing I run on an elliptical/treadmill!

i just did an almost 2 hour run. I planned on doing an hour run but somehow around the 30 minute mark when I was fiddling with my headphones I paused the app. I spent 40 minutes in an ADHD fueled rant before realizing I hadn’t heard an audio clip in awhile. I’m an idiot.

I’m alive. My hyperfixation for zombies! run faded, and I can’t say that it’s for sure back now but. SARAH’S ALIVE?? I played one episode to see if I could bring the hyperfixation back and it was season 2 episode 13. I genuinely shrieked when I heard her voice
