Reasons why computer problems seem to mysteriously vanish as soon as a technician shows up:
You were spacing out and skipping a step somewhere without realising it, and you can’t reproduce it when you try to demonstrate it because now you’re paying attention to what you’re doing
It’s an intermittent electrical connection fault that’s being aggravated by movement/vibrations in your desk; you need to check your cables
The act of explaining the problem to someone caused you to figure out what you were doing wrong
The real cause of the problem was somewhere upstream of your terminal device – for example, at the network service provider – and it got fixed at the source while you were waiting
Your computer is in a location with poor airflow and is overheating; waiting for the technician to arrive gave it a chance to cool off
Despite all appearances to the contrary, modern computers actually have very good fault recovery, and most minor problems will sort themselves out on their own if you give it a minute

Congrats on Oleander’s Chapter 2! It was one hell of a ride
One thing i see thats not talked about much is how your game has some sick bad endings. yes theres romance, yes its got handsome men, but the protagonist isnt cursed old shojo manga princess style, that thing is being NASTY
and things in the markedplace are BRUTAL, when things go down they go down BAD
in the new chapter theres a point in which only one of the protagonist’s eyes opens no matter how much they will the other one to and it is VISCERAL. i honestly had to use the safeword system (though i have eye-brain stuff so it got me specifically pretty hard)
Absolute cheers for you writers though! I’m assuming you like writing this kind of dark stuff, but is there some theme or details you like more or would like/wanted to include if possible?
Now in fairness to shoujo manga protags, they can only take one bite of the "dying to show how dangerous their curse is" apple, if that, before it starts to get a little silly. One of the joys of making a game is that we can make the setting feel much more authentically lethal by just killing Vesper every so often! Which is a great deal of fun!
Speaking just for myself (Violet), there's definitely darker subject matter I'd love to explore at some point in my VN-writing career! I am a huge fan of certain brands of hurt-comfort in which the hurt is very severe and the comfort is slow and long, and I think a story about loving someone while helping them heal would be incredibly fun to write. It'd also take buttloads of research and we are not even remotely close to doing a new project, so for right now it's just an idea to mentally rotate as, like, a little bedtime story for myself.
I also have some ideas for Keir and Oleander's third chapters that I hope leave players feeling a little uncomfortable about the choices they have to make, but I won't spoil them here ;3
The hallucination sequence is definitely intended to make players feel uncomfortable too, though I am sorry you had to safeword there. In future, it is totally possible to avoid that scene through a bit of save-scumming, I'll explain what's happening behind the scene under the readmore.
So while it probably feels like you have to take the drugs eventually via peer pressure/getting kinda high on second-hand smoke, the game is actually making two dice rolls when given the "Take a drag/Pass" choices. If you choose to pass, it chooses a number between 1-3. If you get 1, you fail the check and Vesper automatically gives in to the pressure.
Due to the weirdness that is probability, the odds of passing both 2/3 checks is actually about 40%. So the average player is going to be funnelled into that scene (and it is a fairly important if abstract scene, so I do want folks to see it!), but if you save after making the first successful dice roll, it gets a lot easier to just reload the second if you fail it and just skip the scene.
#HUH???#no way my mc passed the vibe check first try omg#hanon is just built different🔥🔥🔥#I need to draw her in the obscura au#release me
