Elevated Embroidery
Wearing two of my favorite brands For Love & Lemons and Madewell. This is the old Luau top (part of a set) from For Love & Lemons, and I love that I can wear the top and skirt as separates. Could also be an easy and comfy festival look if you swap out the Chanel with a little crossbody :D
(For mesh tops like these, I usually wear these stickers.)
And I loved shooting these photos in Pasadena! Pasadena is just so charming, there are so many alleys right next to each other, that you can get a completely different photo each time, yet get the same vibe.
We also did our wedding engagement photos here (which I'll share next time!) :)
If you have denim that you'd like embroidered, you can get it done at Lot, Stock and Barrel by The Grove LA (they were the ones that did these shorts at the Madewell store where I purchased them).

Daily Denim
I think jeans and leggings make up the largest proportion of items in my closet, followed by jackets. I don't know why I have so many jackets, it's not even cold here. Jeans I can justify because I wear them literally everyday (almost) :) Maybe I can do a jeans round-up one day? Current favorite is the Levi's Wedgie straight jeans in Mass Destruction, it's high rise and non-stretch denim that literally goes well with anything.
Wearing the One Teaspoon Awesome Baggies here, these run large, size down. Top is from The Reformation and pumps from Alexander Wang, both are from some time ago, but I've linked to some similar ones below!
!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = '//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1519521454688?cb=' + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === 'object'){ if(doc.readyState === 'complete'){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, 'script', 'shopsensewidget-script');

Nice Knits
Sometimes when I have a closet full of nothing to wear, i just reach for the some colors to create a monochrome look. Sometimes it works, sometimes i end up looking like a...fruit/ninja, hehe.
I'd throw a flowy jacket over this outfit, something fall appropriate like this gorgeous velvet one or this nude one.

Super Stripes
Finally its a little cooler here in LA, and I can wear jeans! Similar white flare jeans from Frame Denim here, and here's a super cute off shoulder crop top from Marjorelle. I really love the colorful top I'm wearing here, but I can no longer find it on Urban Outfitters to link you guys : ( That's what happens when I wait too long to take photos...
Have you guys been to Smorgasburg LA recently? I went today and saw the new Row DTLA, very Instagram friendly :D! After hanging out at Smorgasburg, check out all the cool stores at Row, I think you'd like it. So excited to see how this space develops! Plus, parking is free for 2 hours on Sundays.
Similar lace choker from Forever 21, under $3! Love this Fenty one too.
Karen Walker sunglasses
White jeans must go with seamless nude undies!

Japan
"I haven't been everywhere, but it's on my list."  -- Susan Sontag
You know how every year all your Facebook friends seem to be vacationing to the same country? This year that was Japan. Every few weeks I'd see friends post about their trip there. Maybe it was because of the $400-500 flight deals this summer? Anyways, we didn't get that deal :P After a $700 ticket and a layover in Beijing, we were super excited for 9 glorious days in Japan! My first time!
First stop - Tokyo:
Sensory overload! People, advertisements, shops everywhere. Dragged our luggage through the crowded streets of Tokyo to our Airbnb. We stayed in this tiny apartment in the heart of Shibuya. Literally not possible to run out of things to do in this city.
Below: The food court at Shibuya train station in Tokyo (near the Hachiko statue), how is a food court so fun and inspiring!?
Tokyo by night. All the neon lights come on just like how one imagines Tokyo to be.
Tourist trap alert! Its hard to miss the giant sign at the Robot Show/restaurant if you're out and about at night in Shinjuku. It's hard to tell what the Robot show was about...but we gave it a try since it was so "popular". Haha it was a mistake (the entire thing was just tacky)...better save your USD$80 and go to the swankiest cocktail bar ever, with the most delicious drinks - at Gen Yamamoto!
Second stop - Hakone:
Quiet seaside village about an hour train ride from Tokyo, on the Odakyu Express Romancecar. Average age of the visitors there was 70. At the train station when you arrive, look for the luggage service office where you can send your bags directly to the hotel (very reasonable fees) and start exploring the town comfortably. I found this service so useful and thoughtful!
Last stop - Kyoto:
Kyoto was beautiful....just like how I had imagined old Japan to be. It blew my mind just how old some of the temples are.
Only in Japan:
Japan travel tips?
You still need cash in most places
Most people speak limited English. Google Translate to the rescue!
Many casual restaurants have a system where you purchase a meal ticket at the entrance
Relax at all the gardens, temples, tea houses that you come across. It's the best during long travel days.
We're engaged! Best trip ever with my amazing man.
Can't wait to explore the rest of Japan next time!

Santa Fe, New Mexico
"Never go on trips with anyone you do not love."  -- Ernest Hemingway
Its been a month filled with travels! If you follow me on Instagram you'd have seen posts about New Orleans, Santa Fe, and right now - Japan! Living the #nomorePTO life.
Santa Fe is a perfect spot for a weekend getaway from LA! A couple of weeks ago, I spent a weekend there with my sister and 2 of my bestest friends - a long overdue girls trip! Santa Fe, the capital of New Mexico, is only an hour and half plane ride from LA, and you get to experience such a different environment. The small town is full of Pueblo-style architecture, and lined with little shops and galleries full of Indian art. And weather is perfect this time of year.
Plus, the food is delicious!  Some of the restaurants we ate at:
1) Maria's - Hearty portions and the strongest Margaritas.
2) Cafe Pasqual's - There was a line here on a Saturday morning! Thought I was in LA for a second. We waited about 15 minutes for a table in this tiny cozy restaurant. Also at LA prices. But the food is delicious!
3) Counter Culture Cafe - Hipster cafe with a large patio and good for hanging out while waiting for dinner.
4) La Boca - Cozy venue with delicious tapas and sangria. When we went, there was also a guitarist that serenaded us all night.
5) Bell Tower Bar at La Fonda hotel - This is the rooftop (not very high though) bar at the La Fonda Hotel. Go here well before sunset to get a seat in their small space. and you'll get a nice view of the town and the sunset. We missed this because we didn't know that the bar closed at sunset =___= Next time!
Things to do:
1) Meow Wolf - Definitely worth a visit! Meow Wolf is a curious and bizarre art installation...its easy to spend hours here exploring the entire thing.
Madrid - The cutest little town that is nestled in the middle of rolling hills. If you love handmade pottery and jewelry, especially turquoise - you'd love this place. I did.
Sandia Peak Tramway - Didn't get to go on this cable car due to high winds. But I imagine the view to be amazing. This is also the most recommended activity when you search "what to do in Santa Fe". We were very creative.
Santa Fe Opera House - I wish we had time for this! The place looks magical.
What to wear? Thanks Tobi.com for sending over these perfect pieces:
Ashleigh floral top and shorts set (click images for links)
Dusk to dawn maxi dress
Where will you go for a weekend getaway?
