it’s so fucked that i submitted the final version of my thesis to the graduate college and i don’t feel anything. i’m not happy or proud or relieved or joyful or anything else you might expect. i’m just numb and tired. i don’t want to celebrate! i don’t want my whole family to come into town like i’ve done something amazing and my troubles are over. i just want to take my cat and rent a cabin in the middle of the woods and not speak to anyone for a month.

There's a bunch of adhd advice out there that's like "people with adhd tend to work better under deadlines due to the anxiety so here are ways to artificially induce a stress response in order to get you to get work done" and it's like well what if I don't want to be stressed out all the time in order to function
#yeah.#and for that reason techniques like these don’t work forever!#you wreck your body and because you’ve wrecked your body#it doesn’t have the strength to respond to stresses (artificial or otherwise) that it would have before#it’s a vicious cycle!#there are very real consequences for societal ableism#in a kinder and more equitable world disabled people would not have to resort to harmful techniques#in the attempt to overcome or hide the consequences of disability#ugh.#idk just feeling this a lot because grad school has been extremely hard on my body#i literally lost my hair from the stress.#and i’ve always said i’ll Deal With It after graduating and now it’s time to Deal With It
