JYP Relationship

They have a very father-daughter kind of relationship. JYP had been visiting SME in search of possible trainees and came across Haneul diligently working away at a track. They talked, he gave her a date to audition at, and the rest is history. He is very proud of how far she’s come and visits her concerts often when they’re in Korea. JYP’s became very lenient with Haneul, especially after she started her reality tv show, “Soloists’ Summer” about half a year after she debuted. Fans can’t get over their relationship and are always hungry for more. Haneul has been put into numerous projects, even some of JYP’s own, and their results never fail to surprise him. People speculate a possible special Producer’s Lounge episode featuring JYP himself, but Haneul admits it’d be a little awkward so it probably won’t happen. However, Haneul can’t help but have a level of disdain for the man like her coworkers.

Haneul’s debut era elaborated on her identity as “Priestess.” The name was created when she was hired into JYPE as a producer, it is a combination of her Chinese name and Korean name which mean “bell” and “Heaven” respectively. It was a silly connection that made her think of church, and Priestess ended up as the final product.

Preparation began early July, nearly half a year before she debuted. She organized each step in a methodical way, giving herself a strict deadline. 2 months for the tracks, and the other 3 for photoshoots and music videos. But despite having so much time to prepare, she ultimately had to change the schedule to accommodate caring for other people in the company. Nevertheless, her involvement in the production of the album was overwhelming.

Soloists’ Season

A reality show created and hosted by Lee Haneul, the world-wide famous idol and producer under JYP Entertainment. She aims to create a show where soloists, who can be from a group but have to have debuted as a soloist, get together, live together, and work together. She decided there was too much drama amongst idols and she wanted to create long-lasting friendships between them.

When she originally brought up the idea with JYP, she had only been debuted for roughly 3 months. Despite this, her popularity was skyrocketing and more and more companies had been reaching out to have her work on their own tracks and albums. Being the supportive dad he is, JYP immediately approved and contacted Mnet to figure out a schedule and how to make the show actually work. Eventually they came to an agreement and the show was under way.

The show follows a group of soloists who work and live in units, but participate in activities as a group. For 3 months, they all get to know one another and do what they do best, make music!

Hello hello!

Call me whatever, Banshee, Reinaartz, two online identities that intermingle!

Kpop started for me with Gangnam style when I was younger (despite not knowing it was even kpop!). I listened to BlackPink a few years back, and a late 2022 got into Stray Kids! Falling into the kpop rabbit hole has been an adventure is all I can say.

Haneul began as just some other fanfiction to write about, but after stumbling upon tumblr about early January/late December, she’s became one of my biggest pride and joys!

—Bang Chan

Out of all of the trainees, Chan was the first one to reach out and talk to Haneul when she was introduced. They started bonding immediately and she quickly opened up to his large friendship circle, though hers was no smaller. The two have been known to exchange feedback on tracks and lyrics, as well as being told they were very “domestic” despite not being in a relationship until late 2020. Though their dating ban was not yet up, they were given the green light and were able to reveal the relationship after Stray Kids’ dating ban was up whenever they wanted to. Haneul is a motherly and protective figure for the rest of the boys and often brings them food and snacks during her breaks. He found her too lovable to not be clingy around.

—Lee Minho

Minho and Haneul are around the same age, which led to them becoming closer. Haneul is partially credited for developing a strong base for his singing since she was the most confident in it. In turn, Minho gave her feedback on her dancing, turning her into her current all-rounder status. Despite this seemingly sweet relationship, they are very snarky and sarcastic around each other. Every sentence they say to the other tends to contain some inside joke which ends up being a huge headache for everyone around them.

Haneul and Changbin clicked mostly because of producing. On top of this, she’s just over 2 months older than him which makes her gloat the most around him. She’s so smug about this, in fact, there’s a Instagram post she made on her birthday saying “Best 2 months and 11 days of my life.” Though it made no sense, as they have different ethnicities and parents, they do often bicker like siblings. Changbin may win physically, but Haneul has him beat with words.

—Hwang Hyunjin

Hyunjin looked up to Haneul a lot as a trainee, she was a hard worker who put in the effort to get things done. His dramatic self also tended to bug the life out of her, acting like a 5 year old child whining to his mom. She always found it endearing, however, in true mom behavior. She’s always there to give him that extra boost in confidence, or pass him a bottle of water after a tiring practice session. On top of that, it has became a known fact everyone’s dogs love her more, even Kkami who refuses to kiss Hyunjin will be all over Haneul. The true dog whisperer.

—Han Jisung

Out of all of the boys, Han is one of the clingiest, most childish member. He makes Haneul really look like a mom with the amount of times he ran to her for protection and yelled her name when he got hurt or needed backup. She couldn’t say no, really. He’s the maknae producer and it’s her job to make him comfortable. In one of her lives with 3Racha, Han gets up to get something, and Haneul insists she go get it in fear he’d accidentally hurt himself. Chan and Changbin dramatically talked of betrayal but she only laughed it off saying how she was basically his mom, and she can’t have her child getting hurt could she? Han was as red as a tomato from that, he wouldn’t stop getting pestered about it either.

If Chan and Han weren’t clingy, Felix sure is. Anytime Haneul is around he’s be wrapped around her like a koala on a log. As soon as she entered the room, after Chan got his mandatory hug and/or kiss, he’d latch onto Haneul and won’t let go until he absolutely had to. The lady feeds into Felix’s plushy collection without a second thought, Chan’s had to supervise her money usage or else everyone’s dorms would be a plushy sea which would genuinely be a fire hazard. They’ve been seen baking together in the background of streams before, otherwise they’d be playing games with the other boys.

Despite how it looks, Seungmin actually looks up to Haneul a lot. Behind the teasing would always be, what Haneul sees as, a little boy watching his older sister. Seungmin’s always had a very clear and pretty singing voice, Haneul really wanted to build on that when she met him, because producing is a lifestyle she lives by, and she’s a sucker for good vocals. They’ve always supported each other no matter how many times someone has had to hold them back from a brawl. It’s all good fun and a little sprinkle of sibling behavior. Haneul has ended up buying some of the most expensive possessions of Seungmin, however, as gifting is a subconscious habit of hers.

Jeongin is baby and he can’t change that. Haneul protects him, she takes care of him, she buys him everything. She is his mom, no questions asked. Regardless, Jeongin is happy to have another layer of protection against his vicious hyungs. Haneul helped Jeongin with his voice when he needed it, he in turn, became her beauty guru. He is stupidly spoiled #2 and she seriously buys him everything. It’s a wonder how Haneul is still able to live comfortably with the amount of money she spends.

Lee Haneul was born on May 28th, 1999 as Li Ling. She was welcomed into the world by the bustling city of Shanghai, China, and her very successful producer parents. She walked and talked at the age of one before her little sister would take a share of her spotlight a year later. Li Xiang was partially left in her older sister’s care while their family welcomed their baby brother, Li Cheng. Despite their attention hogging, Haneul loved her siblings to death and gave them more love than they could ever ask for.

Haneul grew up with a plethora of opportunities. Her family had a theatre background, a big chunk of her family were musicians, and her parents were, of course, producers. With this, she grew up in a very musically inclined environment. However, she was still encouraged to pursue other fields despite this fact. They found it beneficial for her to branch out and expect different things instead of forcing something into her. These being her involvement in figure skating, volleyball, harp, violin, dance, singing, art, and much more.

From the young age of 6-12, Haneul did figure skating. Of course she did her training as well, but figure skating was her main focus aside from academics right up until she passed the audition. She won numerous medals and was well known in Shanghai for this.

Her siblings looked up to her and her achievements, but she encouraged them to go their own paths. Haneul never thought what she was doing was the best course of action, despite her huge self-confidence, so she didn’t want to influence her younger siblings to go on the same direction. She wanted them to complete their education from start to finish and get good-paying jobs to live happy, fulfilled lives.

During her summers as a kid, Haneul would help work her grandparents’ farm, but also do puppet and paper theater shows for the little kids. She’s always been a performer at heart. She showed great empathy in others and tried to help or make someone smile the best she could, friends and family often found it to be one of her best qualities.

As she grew older, her desire for music grew and her understanding of it widened. Haneul quickly outgrew the talent and dance agency she was in, and decided to enter a local audition of YG Entertainment. There were no other companies with open auditions in the area at that specific time so she went for it, hoping for the best.

On the application form Haneul did not write how she was the daughter of big producers. Of course, being 13 and having done the academic achievements she had, you’d expect a child to be mature by then, but it felt as if she was ready to be an adult. Her excuse that she finally revealed later on was, “I didn’t want such a small, but significant, factor to give me an advantage or disadvantage over the other people who were trying to get accepted too. Fighting on an equal platform feels a lot better than not.”

Roughly a month later, she was accepted, and on the condition she’d start her training whenever she graduated from high school. Maybe she was greedy at the time, but she studied extra hard that summer and took all the necessary tests to graduate early just before entering her 2nd year of high school. That decision turned out to become one of the best ones in her life. Of course she also became widely known for how she passed those tests with flying colors, a mark of her intelligence.

She was a trainee at YGE for roughly a year before SME requested she transferred. They’d seen her monthly evaluations and knew that someone that talented needs to be put in somewhere bigger and grander, or whatever their excuse was. Haneul didn’t care too much, but thought experiencing a different environment would be beneficial.

Haneul’s time at her 2 years at SME gave her more contacts and friendships than YGE could ever. Sure she came to know some of the biggest in the industry, but the trainees and debuted groups made her feel like home. They’d wake her up at 4 in the morning to raid her fridge and have her cook them food, and then proceeded to bug her the entire day. That was what made them all lovable… all 40 or so of them.

Even as a trainee, Haneul spent about 60% of the time dancing and singing, plus other typical trainee things. But that other 40% she spent at the company was for producing. She came from such a big producing background it was hard to ignore it. Some days she’d practice with her tracks, other times she’d dump them in a trash, it was a matter of taste mostly.

Then, to her greatest surprise and delight, JYPE offered her a job as one of their producers. She signed the contract and transferred, but never lost touch with her friends. That decision was probably the best one of her life. Believe it or not, she felt the most free at JYPE.

Haneul’s time as a trainee at JYPE was nothing short of well, short. Time flew by too fast, and she made connections quickly. Maybe it was how warm and sociable Bang Chan was, who knew practically everyone, or that she worked on pretty much everyone’s tracks, or maybe her own extroverted self was the cause of all of it. She loved the busy life regardless.

The 9 boys quickly became close and clamored over her every time they saw her. She didn’t mind, but to be truthful, there were days she wanted to spend alone or only with a single one of them. But that of course, is hard to make a reality with how clingy they were.

Haneul and 3Racha bonded the quickest, sharing their love of making music. On top of that, there was no doubt she was close to Chan and vise versa. Somedays they’d be coddled her but against one another, and others piled on top, without any worries. In fact, it was a huge worry for Haneul as Chan was pretty oblivious and her ever growing crush was a hot topic around her sunbaenims. She could never hate them for it despite how red she’d become when they began talking about it.

2017 came and Haneul was given the chance to debut. In fear of it overlapping with the Stray Kids show, she did prep over time, right up until the final episode aired and her debut in less than a week. However, she was teased far before the show even began airing. What an eventful period. The time she spent cooped up in offices and recording studios, then out shooting music videos and teasers was probably the most stressed she’d been.

She supported the boys through their entire journey on their, and thoroughly surprised them with her own debut as teasers flew in every week. She sacrificed many sleepless nights helping them cope rather than worry about her next recording or photo shoot for debut matters. She had even talked with JYP about their mental health in worry about how they’d proceed on the show.

The week she debuted and after was the busiest but quite possibly one of the happiest times of her life. She was given a lot of encouragement, even being called an early Christmas present at some point. Regardless, that was just how far she had came on her journey, and it was all worth it.
