Characters
Today we worked more on our concept art for our animation, I worked on some character designs. Using the designs from my teamates to sketch our characters interacting in the same space as eachother.

Animatic 1
Animatic I made of our storyboards. The final animatic is supposed to be only 3 minutes long, but i havent edited it, so it exceeds that. Each frame is 5 seconds long. This will not be the case for the final animatic, some frames will be shorter than others, especially during the fight scene.

character heights and silhouettes - Friday
Today we planned our characters by creating a height chart. My first attempt at this was okay, i was mainly focusing on their height so i ignored their silhouettes and body shapes.
I recreated it again, but this time i focused more on their stances and body shape. I'm much happier with this height chart, it shows off their silhouettes as well as their personalities.

Mood boards and timing - Thursday
my group went through some animated shows that we think would fit the theme and content that our animated series would have. We got some screen caps that look very similar to the style we had in mind.
After we did that I got to work on timing the animation, using the storyboards that we have already made and format it as a video

Storyboard and planning - Tuesday
Today myself and my group sorted out our storyboard ideas, merging them together. This is the finished idea :)

We then decided on roles for people, It was decided that I would time the animation by using the storyboards. My plan is to take a photo of each frame and put them into an animation software, then i plan on making the frame hold for however long is needed.

Week Four
Presentation and story boarding - Monday
My group created a power point to present in front of our animation class. It goes through our project plan, the characters and the visuals we want to focus on.

We then came up with some story boarding ideas. Below are my ones. I chose to do the first 3 scenes as they were the ones I had a clear image of.

Presentation and scripting - Friday
Today we did a presentation for our scripts! Paul gave us some feedback about our scripts and story writing. We then needed to create one script that we agreed on as a group. We combined parts of different scripts that we liked and came up with a final one.

This is our finalized script. I especially liked the dread that the characters feel after having a lovely scene together.

Nursery rhyme group project - Thursday
Today we got our new brief. Everyone was split into groups of four. My group (Me, Leah, Patrick, and Roman) were given the nursery rhyme "Mondays child", in the medieval ages (1500's) as an action/adventure series/film.
We immediately got to work brainstorming some ideas, everyone immediately thought of war and battles. We then started to do research of the time period in different regions of the world.

Animal studies (FOTA) - Tuesday
Today we went to Fota Wildlife Park and Cobh in Cork. We spent the day sketching out the animals and exploring the town. I have some sketches I did of the animals and some i did of the buildings. I did them on my ipad because it was easier than bringing a sketchbook and pencilcase.
The rhinos were my favrouite, I loved how square-shaped they were. They were very easy to break down into shapes and they moved slowly, so it was easy to see how they moved.

Week 3
New brief and Icebreakers - Monday
Today Paul went through the plan for our trip to Fota Wildlife, as well as a little of our new brief. After that we did some icebreakers with each other, our next project is going to be a group project so we were told to socialize together,
We play "Exquisite Corpse" which is a game I had played before. It involves three people drawing separate parts of a body (head, bust, legs) without seeing the previous parts. It was very fun and I met a lot of new people.

Computer things - Thursday
On Thursday I did some research on the mouth shapes and recorded the audio for my animation. I used the photos of my finished pieces and converted the backgrounds to be transparent in Adobe Photoshop. Once i had them all finished I opened Adobe Animate and began my animation.
The next step was to sync up the shapes that the mouth made with the recording I had created. I haven't gotten the final animation finished due to issues with the audio, but hopefully i will be able to complete it tomorrow

Mini-Me part two!! - Tuesday
Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to create my mini-me again, I decided to try and make it out of paper. I wanted to go for a different medium and Paul recommended that I try it.

I had a lot of difficulties with how to attach it all together and make the piece seem three dimensional. Although I struggled I am still happy with the outcome. I think the paper background and the paper character will blend in nicely and give it a consistent look. I wish that the mini-me had more depth in it.

Week Two
Head process - Monday
I continued to work more on my mini me, starting to work with the clay physically. I'm using air drying clay due to the amount of time I have to complete this project. I wanted to try and stay as on model as possible to my initial sketches.

The end result came out a lot more clunkier than I imagined, but i'm still happy with the outcome and i'm looking forward to finishing it. I plan on painting it and creating the eyes and mouth on paper tomorrow.

Background completion - Friday
I started to cut out the paper for my background. I changed some things in the final design as i wanted to include more references from "the three vikings"

i first started with a blue sky to match my original sketches however, I had a limited colour pallete and thought that the blue did't fit well with the other, warmer colours. As I had now decided to stick to as many warm colours as possible, I decided to make the scene into a sunset. I wanted the sunset to resemble the one seen in the three vikings book so I included the long sun rays seen in the book.

head process - Thursday
Today, I began to sketch out my idea for my mini me. My face shape will change what materials I plan on using, so firstly I took a photo of myself and studied it.

I plan on using model clay (DAS) as it will be the easiest to use with circular shapes. I decided to break down all of my features using simple shapes. Here is a photo i took of my face to show you my process. I wanted my mini me to look more stylized than realistic so I exaggerated my facial features and made the lines more rounded than sharp.

I wanted to play with colours and different facial expressions to get a better idea of what the finished animation might look like. I'm leaning most towards the top right character as I think the colours are the most appealing out of the six.
