Line up of 6 with colour : I absolutely hate the line up now that the colour is added, I like the colours but I don’t like how I applied them I could have put in more effort next time I will try a different method to colour. while the water colours are fast they are an eye sore if not done correctly.

Fabric manipulation swatches : I am not happy with the overall outcome of my swathes as I feel textiles is one of my strong points and I really did not show that in this project, there is no excuse only poor time management i should have gave myself more time on the swatches.

Quilting and an experimental technique

Knit swatches : I decided I would do some knitted swatches. I do like how the swatches turned out but I’m not sure how well they work with my project, I just couldn’t see them on and of my six designs.

This is how my wall is looking currently all my works are inspired by the contents of this wall, I find it interesting how much my space changes daily based on what I’m doing.

This is a starting point I may still change things and I need to add colour.

As you can see I tweaked some of the designs so that they sat Better on the body and made sense in terms of construction.

I tried 3 different colour ways and decided that the darkest one was best as I feel it works well with Michelle’s overall vibe.

My line up of six designs. I am happy with the designs although I can see myself tweaking them a little as some of them don’t make sense construction wise.

These are the workings of my designs, some of them came from draping and tracing an image of the drape and some came just from shapes and forms I found in my mood/inspiration boards.

I began draping the deconstructed garments onto the mannequin.

At this stage I realised just how much you can create by deconstructing and draping simple garments.

I had all the researched Garments and my mood boards on the wall at this stage and by just looking at some of Michelle’s previous garments I was able to design 3 looks that I was happy with.

Overall the technique was successful and I really enjoyed the process.

I went to the charity shops and found some pieces that I think will work well with my muse.

I will deconstruct these pieces and drape them on the mannequin to get some designs.

I really like he colour and texture of the pieces I found and think they will work perfectly for my project.

I printed out images of garments that have a similar vibe/aesthetic to Michelle, I also narrowed down the colour way that Michelle wears.

There is a certain wild/untamed vibe associated with Michelle Lamy and this shows in the clothes she wears. Her style is dramatic/edgy.
I feel as if she is empowered by the clothes she wears as she is very confident and does not hold back with her looks.

I am building an image of Michelle in my head considering all of the above. This will influence the designs I produce.
It is important to understand the person on all levels, it is helpful to know how the person wants to feel when wearing your garment and I know for sure Michelle Lamy wants a show stopping out of the ordinary piece that will turn heads.

Muse: Michelle Lamy
I decided I wanted Michelle Lamy as my muse.
I began to find images of her that best show her style and attitude and made a simple collage to get started with my design work.

Movement
My movement project is inspired by the structure and movement of animal / human bones. I have always been fascinated by animals and the movement project got me thinking about their bone structures and how every animals skeletal structure is so different to suit their environment and survival needs. I will be focusing on taking shapes and structures from different skeletons and turning them into something new.
I am pleased with the outcome of this project. I have explored and tried new techniques with each of the three electives. Looking at all my pieces together I see a separation. I intended for everything to look like 1 project (movement). I could have been more successful in how I merged the three electives. Overall I’m proud of my work and learned a lot from the project. I feel I fully engaged in the three electives.
Sculpture: I created s shoulder piece inspired by the sharper points and bones of the human/animal skeletal build. The piece is sturdy and sits well on the body. It is made from 100% cardboard the techniques I used have proven successful I am happy with the piece and wouldn’t change anything about the process.
Fashion: I was inspired by the hip bone shapes and created a shoulder piece and bag the piece Is structurally sound and sits well on the body. I would change the overall shape of the piece if I was to do it again.
Ceramics: I was inspired by x-ray images and the work completed in previous electives. I created a version of the snake skeleton and a bowl/cup piece inspired by the mark making we did. I am really happy with the results. I feel I fully engaged with the ceramics elective and learned many new techniques. I really challenged myself with the pieces I made, this had me worried at the start but it was successful in the end. I surprised myself with the progress I was able to make in just 2 weeks of the elective.

Sculpture and fashion pieces together. These two are in some ways opposites as the sculptural piece is inpired by the sharper bones of the body while the fashion piece is inpired by the soft/round bones such as the human hip.

Ceramic elective pt. : 7
I photocopied the mark making sheets highlighting the negative space, I like how the images turned out they have been an inspiration for my ceramic work.

I have added some x ray images and I can really see a relation between them and my marking printouts.

I added a short video showing the movement of shadows with the different lighting angles.

I used a white background and shined a light from different angles, I enjoyed exploring the effects light has on intricate pieces such as the spine.

Ceramic elective pt.6:
Finished ceramics pieces, I added a shiny glaze I think it compliments the undertones well. Overall very happy with the results and wouldn’t change anything about the process.
