Rogue One wheezed as it gently secured its landing upon rebellion ground, its hissing engines barely phasing the approaching maintenance workers that rushed to do their usual check-ups on the ship and its crew. Rey marvelled at the flying beast as she looked at it from top to bottom. A grin broken by the occasional breathy chuckle growing on her face at her growing excitement and honour that she would finally get to meet the legends Leia told her all about.

Despite not being part of the assigned patrol crew, no one truly seemed to mind her trespassing into the ship. And even if they did say something to her about it, the young Jedi was far too preoccupied in her own thoughts as she took her time to gaze around its chambers. Eventually, her feet carried her into the cockpit, her eyes dreamily averting from the walls and onto the droid blocking the view. “ Oh–!! ” She startled. “ Sorry. I was just, looking around to…  ” Rey’s voice hushed and her face brightened upon recognising him, her lips curving wider and wider into a cheerful smile upon uttering each syllable.

Honestly, Kay wasn’t too survived that Rogue One were still active on duty. Cassian especially, considering how determined he was as a person. Kay was never going to let him go it alone, although he would jokingly complain that he was only working because ��Cassian told him too’. Then there was still Jyn, Bodhi, Chirrut, and Baze. Although the two Guardians were retired now. At their age, the droid wasn’t surprised. 

The others had already left the ship but Kay liked remaining back sometimes, just to run over everything and ensure everything was in order. Hearing the voice, Kay turned around to look down at whoever had stepped onto the ship. When she smiled, the droid had already guessed that she knew who he was. “Indeed..” He studies her for a few more moments, optics flickering slightly. “You are.. Rey, yes?”
