Book Review (04-14-18)
A lot of teenagers on this generation love to read a story in an application called Wattpad. It has a different genre of a story: Romance, Teen fiction, Mystery/Thriller, Action, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Horror, Vampire, etc, but one of the most chosen genre is the Romance. Some of the teenagers love to read a story about romance, that can make their knees tremble and can feel the butterflies in their stomachs.
This past few months, some of the wattpad readers are always talking about this one completed story, they say that it's really an inspiring story. It's the Sands of Time written by the most followed author on wattpad, Jonah Mae Panen Pacala as known as jonaxx.
The book Sands of time is a romantic story, it has already 18.7 million reads on wattpad, the book has 43 chapters and the cover of the book is color yellow that has a wave and it also shown the sands.
At the beginning of the story is the type of writing what so called "in medias res" meaning in the middle, it caught my attention because it's my first time to read a story that the beginning of it was in the middle. Jonaxx writes this amazing story that it doesn’t just make you fall in love but it will also give some life lessons. For this story, it was of course a typical haciendero falling in love with just not ordinary and also an ordinary girl, but what makes this story different from her other stories was the background of the heroine and of course the conflict. I love that Jonaxx extended her reach again in this story and decided to try other things. I love that she made this story really romantic and also very emotional.
It’s funny because I always think that Tagalog romance were cliché before. But ever since I discovered this story by Jonaxx, I suddenly forgot that thought. The story she makes, every characters she introduced, every conflict, every scenes, every lines, all of them proved to me that I won’t be dealing with cliché or ordinary stories anymore.
The main characters of the story are Raoul and Soleil. The hero in this story also fell in love with a younger girl, which is far from his usual type. It’s ironic because both Raoul and Zamiel (Costa Leona series #5) likes mature women, but then they ended up loving younger girls. But what makes this story different is the back story. I love that Jonaxx tried something new in this story and it makes me more get excited to read all of her stories. I also love the fact that the hero is not the usual hero of Jonaxx. Raoul sure is possessive but with moderation and he let Leil grow and experience the things that every teenagers need to experience because the father of Soleil didn't gave her the chance to enjoy her childhood days. Raoul let her entertain suitors, have friends and experience having fun with them. Whenever I think about Jonaxx boys, all I could think is a hot, sexy, intimidating and possessive alpha male but now with Raoul, I can add matured and with huge self restraint. I love that he helped Leil grow up even if there’s some slight ulterior motive in his part, and let her live her life. Aside from that, I also love that Raoul didn’t gave up and really fight for her.
I really cried a lot reading this story especially on the confrontation part with the Riego family. I can understand both party especially to Raoul’s mom. It breaks my heart whenever Soleil cries and Raoul getting hurt. This story is really something.
Just like the other books in the series, this one ended with one chapter taken from Raoul’s point of view. It explains how he started to fell for her, on what he did to have her, on what he felt on those times that he need to give her up for a while and on what are the pains he endured. I love that his character was given a room for growth especially during the darkest time of his life. I have to say that his character really stood up for me in this book. For sure some will get blinded with so much hatred that they can hurt other people too but because of his love for Soleil, he started to heal.
For those romance addict out there, Sands of time by Jonaxx are the best for you. It’s the 6th book of the Costa Leona series but you can definitely read it standalone. I highly recommended this to you.

Alcohol and Drug Use in Young People
For many young people, using alcohol, drugs, or other substances like cigarettes is just part of growing up. Many of them try these substances only a few times and stop, while others may continue to use them on a more regular basis.
Young people may try a number of substances, including alcohol, household chemicals (inhalants), prescription and over-the-counter medicines, illegal drugs, and cigarettes. They use alcohol more than any other substance. Marijuana is the illegal drug that young people use most often.
Young people use these substances for many of the same reasons that adults do-to relax or feel good. But they may also have other reasons for using substances. For example, they may want to know what it feels like to get high. Or they may want to rebel against their parents or fit in with their friends.
Using alcohol or drugs can affect young people's general health, physical growth, and emotional and social development. It can also change how well they make decisions, how well they think, and how quickly they can react. And using alcohol or drugs can make it hard for young people to control their actions. For some young people, alcohol or drug use may turn into a substance use problem.
Parents can play a key part in teaching their children about alcohol and drug use by talking honestly and openly about the effects that alcohol and drugs can have on their children's health, schoolwork, and relationships. Healthwise Staff (2017)

The rice shortage which recently affected a number of countries in the Asian region showed how unpredictable nature can be if people continued being indifferent about improving rice production. Call it the the period of stability before a crisis, nowadays, a lot of people are queuing for a bag or two of a NFA rice . Worse, for some, observing a full square meal a day is no longer possible. This leads people to reflect on how to help to counter this strongly felt problem. At restaurants, there's a lot of leftover servings of rice knowing that hungry tummies in resettlement areas exist. On the way to school, families sheltered in shanties at the town pulling through lunch with mere kropek and noodles at hand. Along the area, youngsters satisfy themselves with least modest skewers sold by hawkers. Yet at the square canteen, tradeoff is existing.

Ways to Relieve Stress
Write. It may help to write about things that are bothering you. Write for 10 to 15 minutes a day about stressful events and how they made you feel. Or think about tracking your stress. This helps you find out what is causing your stress and how much stress you feel. After you know, you can find better ways to cope.
Let your feelings out. Talk, laugh, cry, and express anger when you need to. Talking with friends, family, a counselor, or a member of the clergy about your feelings is a healthy way to relieve stress.
Do something you enjoy. You may feel that you're too busy to do these things. But making time to do something you enjoy can help you relax. It might also help you get more done in other areas of your life. Try:
Focus on the present. Meditation and guided imagery are two ways to focus and relax your mind.
A hobby, such as gardening.
A creative activity, such as writing, crafts, or art.
Playing with and caring for pets.
Volunteer work.
Meditate. When you meditate, you focus your attention on things that are happening right now. Paying attention to your breathing is one way to focus. Mindfulness-based stress reduction is one form of meditation that is very helpful with managing stress and learning how to better cope with it.Stress Management: Doing Meditation
Use guided imagery. With guided imagery, you imagine yourself in any setting that helps you feel calm and relaxed. You can use audiotapes, books, or a teacher to guide you
Exercise. Regular exercises one of the best ways to manage stress. Walking is a great way to get started. Even everyday activities such as housecleaning or yard work can reduce stress. Stretching can also relieve muscle tension. For more information about becoming more active, see the topic Fitness.
Try techniques to relax.Breathing exercises, muscle relaxation, and yoga can help relieve stress.
Breathing exercises. These include roll breathing, a type of deep breathing.Stress Management: Breathing Exercises for Relaxation
Progressive muscle relaxation. This technique reduces muscle tension. You do it by relaxing separate groups of muscles one by one.Stress Management: Doing Progressive Muscle RelaxationYoga, tai chi, and qi gong. These techniques combine exercise and meditation. You may need some training at first to learn them. Books and videos are also helpful. You can do all of these techniques at home.
