Pulled 60 gallons of water out of our basement. At least there wasn’t any significant damage.

Washington, D.C. It seemed only proper to hit up the US capital on the same road trip that took us through the Canadian one.

Hershey, PA is an interesting town built around the chocolate factory. Hershey Park had over a dozen insane roller coasters, a strange animatronic ride about how chocolate is made, and a high school musical I suffered through to escape the heat.

After finishing our backpacking adventure we headed back to the US via Niagara Falls. Riding the Maid of the Mist into the falls was an experience I’d recommend to everyone.

Camping and canoeing through Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario was an incredible experience. The highlights - canoeing through white caps and beautiful calm waters, fishing up trout, and exploring and relaxing on the islands. Not pictured - the hell of a portage (carrying gear and canoe on your back through mosquito infested forests) we went through to cross from Lake Opeongo to Happy Isle Lake. There are no words for the physical and psychological damage that portage inflicted on us.

We spent the day walking around Ottawa. Not pictured because I was too busy enjoying them - amazing french bakeries (fresh croissants, macarons, cheeses), farmer’s market, and south asian market (the noodles were delicious).

First sleep - upstate NY - this family was nice enough to feed us and let us sleep in their living room.

The 14 hour drive up to Ottawa, Ontario went by reasonably quick. We stopped for lunch in Scranton, PA - a town full of beautiful architecture. We nerded out a bit when we spotted the Dunder Mifflin building.
