The Insider’s Guide to Fragrance
When I started my femininity journey, I had no idea where to start. I remember watching all these videos that talked about femininity and external part femininity and they all mentioned one common point: fragrance.
I started studying fragrances and getting familiar with different notes that are in some of my favorite fragrances, and the most popular fragrances around the world. I learned that not every fragrance is going to match your body chemistry, so it really is a trial and error process, but it is so worth it.
Men literally become intoxicated by the smell of a woman. There is so much power in a fragrance that in my opinion, it is something that cannot be skipped.
I discovered that warm notes agree with my body chemistry more than anything so ambers, pink peppers, vanillas, and other woody, natural, sweet notes.
I’m the type of woman who loves smelling good all day, and I love for my scent to stay with a person even after I’ve left a room. Pre-quarantine, I loved giving hugs (I still do, but I’m cautious and respectful of people’s space) and I was always complimented on how amazing I smelled.
I want to share some of my favorite fragrances I have in my collection, as well as the videos I watched to learn about fragrances. I’m not going to lie, I do not mind investing in my fragrances at all! But I do have some more budget friendly scents if you’re just starting in your fragrance journey.
Before we begin: Ladies, let me know what some of your favorite fragrances are. I’m always open to adding to my collection.
Some tips to smell good all day:
- Layer your scents. If you can find a fragrance that comes in a balm, lotion, or skin creme, you increase the longevity of that fragrance on your skin. It also makes it easier to reapply as needed through out the day.
- Go for Eau De Parfums (EDPs) over Eau De Toilettes (EDTs). EDPs have a high scent concentration than EDTs, so if you’ve ever wondered why it seems your EDT fragrances seem to just disappear off your skin as soon as you put it on, that might be a reason. Make the switch, you’ll get so much more out of your scent.
- Refresh your scent every 5-6 hours. The only perfume I have ever worn that lasted through a whole gala, and a shower was L’Heure Mysterieuse by Cartier. (Seriously, that perfume is no joke. I’ve only ever worn it once.) Now, most other perfumes won’t be as strong and will need reapplication throughout the day. I made a point in my first tip to get your fragrances in lotions, but I also recommend getting your fragrances in smaller sizes if available. If your desired perfume doesn’t already come in a smaller size for purchase, just purchase an atomizer and you’ll be able to fill it with your desired fragrance.
My favorite fragrances in my collection (over $100):
- Si Passione by Giorgio Armani
- Black Opium by YSL (I know it’s pretty common, but it is still a favorite)
- Good Girl by Carolina Herrera
- Angel by Thierry Mugler
- By the Fireplace by Maison Margiela
- Jasmine Musk by Tom Ford
- Santal Blush by Tom Ford
My favorite fragrances in my collection (under $100):
- Hypnotic Poison by Dior
- Bronze Goddess by Estee Lauder (my favorite fragrance for the summer time, it’s mouth watering)
- Secret Genius by Pinrose
- Gilded Fox by Pinrose
- Very Sexy by Victoria’s Secret
-Tease EDP by Victoria’s Secret
My favorite fragrance YouTubers to watch:
- Eva Monoroe
- Cheraye C Lewis
- Edwige A La Mode (not a fragrance YouTuber, but I love her collection)
- Karina Waldron
- Mila Le Blanc
