Hi! So this piece is from I think two years ago, and was a Ninjago oc I had in a different timeline to Kaiya called Emi (people who remember my old username would recall the name Emi) and this has been in my draft for ages, soooo have a lovely, old oc post :) I haven’t done anything with Emi for yearssssss, think I’ve still got two old gacha videos of her on my phone tbh

So, the premise of this is that Master Chen Skylor’s father had another child with the same women who is Skylors mother hoping that even if Skylor didn’t develop elemental powers then one of them would. Fortunately Skylor did and the other child didn’t and almost immediately Chen began to favour Skylor because his child had elemental powers a thing that he does not possess himself and that he was jealous of her, eventually jealously started to stir in Emi about her father showing clear favouritism towards Skylor while she’s left in the dust because of her lack of elemental powers. There’s always been a slight drift between the sisters as eventually

like her father Emi began to not like elemental masters as she thought all of them were the same, stuck up. Because of this newfound hatred for elemental master Emi became more distanced with Skylor over the years however this didn’t affect Skylor so much as the tournament of elements was arising and she was helping Chen by entering the competition without anyone knowing that Chen is her father. Emi didn’t have this same strike of luck as to keep Skylors identity a secret he immediately introduced Emi as his only daughter causing many of the elemental masters to try and gain her trust so they can find out what the next event was. She hated this. Emi kept her distance from the tournament as she didn’t want to watch her fathers plan go through and to continuously watch her father silently praise Skylor from afar while she is next to him trying to prove her worth to him, it had no effect on him. Throughout the tournament she felt lonely and isolated because she had nobody she thought she could rely on, however that changed when one of the ninjas had caught sight of her, that person being Lloyd. At first he was skeptical to go to her because of knowing she’s the daughter of Chen but Sensei Garmadon convinced him to go actually talk to her and quoted ‘not all children follow in their parent’s footsteps’ Lloyd more than anyone knew that was true.

“Hi” a voice spoke from behind Emi, startling her and causing her to quick turn around her hands enclosing into a fist at the person. Infront of her stood an equally startled boy with blonde hair and red eyes, immediately Emi was captured in the gaze of the crimson coloured eyes the eyes that looked like blood she felt almost captivated by it.

“I am so sorry, I didn’t mean to frighten you.” The blonde apologised running a hand through his hair in worry.

“It’s alright, just you don’t sneak up on someone unannounced you could’ve said something.” Emi calmed herself down while slightly lecturing the blonde.

“Habit.” The boy sheepishly replied. Upon further examination her eyes landed on the blondes clothing he was wearing a Green sleeveless Ninja suit and she already knew who he was but not by name.

“The golden ninja.” Emi silently muttered to herself now annoyed by the presence of the ninja.

“Well I’ve sort of given up the title of the golden ninja so now I’m the green ninja.” He smiled at Emi, causing her eyes to widen. How had he heard her?

“Right.” Emi nodded.

The green ninja awkwardly looked beside him due to the deafening silence that had just erupted between them.

“So, Chens daughter. Fun.” He mentally face palmed himself at what he had just spoken.

Emi sceptically smiled at him in response “yup that’s me, what do you need.”

“Hmm?” Lloyd hummed in response “i just wanted to come and introduce myself.”

He stepped a bit further out onto the balcony where Emi was watching over the guards walking around the temple, slowly closing the door behind him to allow themselves from quiet. Now he was standing directly next to Emi as she leaned onto the railing.

“You’re the green ninja, the elemental master of energy that’s all I need to know.” Emi replied her eyes focused on the moving guards.

“That’s not all.” The blonde shakes his head.

Emi was already used to this, many of the more sneaky elemental masters had introduced themselves to her and made her think they wanted to be friends and once they realised that she didn’t know much about the next event or that she wouldn’t convince Chen that they should win then they would leave her and never interact with her again. She wasn’t going to fall for it again.

Emi eyed him “okay, then what’s your name?”

“Lloyd.” He smiled at her hoping that it was welcoming to her.

She nodded her head silently telling him that she heard his name. Emi’s gaze continued out into the distance watching as the sky began to become darker and darker and the sun was slowly disappearing meaning curfew was in a few hours. Lloyd silently stood next to her watching the sky as well, she thought that if she stopped talking to him then he would realise that she didn’t know anything about the events in the tournament nor would she convince her dad to allow him to win. But he didn’t budge.

“What’s your name?” He asked after a little while of silence.

Emi raised an eyebrow at him finally turning her head to face his “why do you want to know?”

“You asked mine, it’s only fair that I ask you yours.” Lloyd responded cheerfully.

She loudly sighed her gaze now forgetting the scenery and is now fully on Lloyd and his red eyes. Lloyd noticed and titled his head in confusion at her aggression.

“If you want to know just ask the other elemental masters they’ll gladly tell you my name and how I am so unhelpful because I don’t know shit about the tournament or won’t convince the big fucking idiot on the makeshift throne to let you win.” Emi angrily snapped accidentally allowing her inner thoughts to be released. Lloyd stared at her wide eyed as he finally realised why she was distant the moment he began the conversation.

“I don’t want that.” Lloyd immediately declined once she stopped speaking.

The sentence that had left Lloyds mouth left Emi completely off-guard as she stared at Lloyd waiting for him to continue.

“That’s just horrible, using you just because of who your father is. I genuinely want to know who you are and it didn’t cross my mind to ask you about the tournament. I wanted to talk to you.” Lloyd added on.

Emi stood there completely shocked at his words, this was the first time during the tournament and for a long while where she felt comfort and it was by a complete stranger only here to compete. At first she was sceptical of what he had said but when she looked into his deep red eyes she knew, she knew he was telling the truth. Lloyd remained in his place waiting to see if the girl in-front of him would speak or say anything when she didn’t, Lloyd didn’t want to interrupt her anymore.

“It’s almost curfew I better head back in. It was nice to actually talk to you blonde girl.” Lloyd contently smiled, he had chosen to refer to her blonde haired girl instead of Chens daughter it was clear now that even she didn’t like Chen or wanted to be associated with him in the slightest.

As Lloyd turned around to leave the girl alone and just as he was about to open the balcony door to re-enter the temple the girl from behind spoke.

“Emi.”

“What?” Lloyd turned to look at the girl once more and this time the girl was already looking directly at him a kind smile on her face.

“My name is Emi.” She continued to brightly smile at him at first it appeared that there were small bits of tears in her eyes but Lloyd wasn’t to sure.

Lloyd smiled in return “I like your name it’s really pretty.”

“Thank you, goodnight Lloyd.” Emi replied, her cheeks now a slight pinkish colour as she had never been complimented on her name before.

“Goodnight to you too Emi.” And with that Lloyd was back inside the temple.

While Skylor takes after their mother for elemental powers, Emi takes after appearance wise. During the tournament of elements Emi has short blonde hair and browns eyes similar to Skylor who has brown eyes however after the tournament of elements Emi grows her hair out and dyed the front part of her hair green as it is the opposite of red so she can be rid of her connection to Skylor and Chen once she’s off the island. Skylor and Emi’s mothers appearance can be up to interpretation as she is never shown on camera so I have her with blonde hair and brown eyes. It’s was never said where Skylor mother is now during the show so in my interpretation of her I believe that the moment she could she stowed away on one of the ships delivering ingredients to the temple and escaped the island unfortunately leaving her two daughters there. Now she lives away from Ninjago city and is trying to have a better life for herself which means leaving her kids. Both Skylor and Emi are both distraught about their mother leaving but since Emi was only two years old while Skylor was four she doesn’t have much memories of her mother and doesn’t dwell on her disappearance as Skylor does.

Back to the tournament of elements. In the episode spy for a spy when it is revealed that there is a spy/mole amongst the elemental masters The first suspect on most of the elemental masters mind is Emi.

Tw- hints of unseen torture and injury.

“Like I said, I ain't joining your little alliance. I'm gunning for that staff.” Shade glared at Lloyd and the other elemental master in Kai’s suite. They all had been called to a secret meeting.

“Hey, this isn't about an alliance. This is about finding out who is the spy. No one leaves this room until we find out who is passing information to Chen.” Lloyd sharply replied as he explained the situation to everyone.

“Why are you looking at me, Greenie? I'm not your spy.” Shade snapped “and if we want to know who the spy is why don’t we ask Chens little puppet.”

“Emi is not involved and don’t call her that.” Lloyd immediately dismissed angrily.

“Lloyd, he is right it does make sense for Chen to have his daughter to get in-tell if anyone is interfering with his evil plans.” Kai agreed with Shade.

“Perhaps I can help.” Neuro raised his head, walking over to shade to read his mind he soon got a clear answer “I don't know who, but someone here isn't who they say they are.”

“How do we know we can trust you? Maybe I should use your power and see inside your head.” Skylor threatened coming closer to Neuro, now causing a rift between the other elemental masters.

“I’d like to see you try power hoarder.” Neuro glared at Skylor.

“This is what Chen wants, for us to fight. But we don't have to. There has to be a more civilized way around this.” Kai raised his voice at everyone making them listen to him.

“There is. Everyone who's ever worked for Chen has the Anacondrai tattoo on their back. Find the tattoo, find the spy.” Garmadon explained to everyone a fool proof plan to find the spy.

“Anyone object” Lloyd questioned, Neuro immediately agrees and shows his back.

“Can I go now?” Neuro impatiently asks.

“Not until we check everyone. Who's next?” Lloyd replies calling the next person to show their back.

Griffin rushed to the front and showed his back “Let's get it on”

“We need one more person.” Garmadon interrupted calling the attention of everyone “we need Chens daughter.”

“We all know she’s a spy and plenty of us have tried to talk to her yet she’s doesn’t want anything to do with us.” Griffin muttered

“If we can get her to trust us then she can be a useful ally to us, we’d have an inside person to Chen.” Jay realised what Garmadon was trying to convince “we got to find her.”

Lloyd hesitantly nodded “you guys continue checking everyone’s back, I’ll find Emi.”

Kai, Jay and Garmadon all agreed as Lloyd left the room to look for Emi.

He found her almost immediately at the same place he had first met her. The balcony.

“You seem to have a thing for balconies.” Lloyd joked, walking from behind her this time she wasn’t startled when he approached her.

“And I guess you have a thing for coming to balconies when conveniently I am also here.” Emi chuckled as she spoke.

Since their first meeting they’ve now been able to form a friendship, not as close as Lloyd is with the Ninjas but still close. There were still lots that each wanted to know about one another, but now with the tournament underway wasn’t the exact moment they wanted to build their friendship with. On the ground the many Anacondrai guards were racing around each with a determined look on their face, the faint sound of music played around them.

“What in the first spinjitsu master is happening?” Lloyd questioned his eyes on the guards.

“I have no idea.” Emi mumbled shaking her head, she was also confused at what was happening.

“Guess it’s a busy day for the guards as well.” He replied his voice sounding a mile away.

“Rough day?” The blonde girl asked, her face holding a look of sympathy.

“It’s always rough. I’m so sorry to ask this, but can you come with me.” Lloyd responds regretfully.

“What for?” Emi questions.

“I think you know.” Lloyd grimaced as he spoke.

Emi eyes narrowed as she looked at him “I don’t have the tattoo.”

“They won’t believe me, and you are his daughter you may be able to help us.” Lloyd reasoned.

In response Emi sighed, she couldn’t reveal who the spy was. She couldn’t betray her family.

“I can’t betray my father. Look I knew about the staff of elements but not about a spell. I wouldn’t put it past my father or Clouse to use a spell to get what they want but I don’t know what it is.” Emi explained.

Lloyd nodded he already knew she had nothing to do with the tournament because of what she had said during their first meeting, but even now he was doubting whether to fully trust her. It would help put his mind at ease.

“Come on, follow me back to Kai’s room you can explain that to the others. They’ll understand.” Lloyd smiled at Emi.

Emi hesitantly followed behind Lloyd as he led her back to Kai’s room. Once he led Emi to the room it was clear that only two people were left to be examined Skylor and Shade, but now Emi was another.

“Well, only two left.” Lloyd examined once he and Emi entered the room.

Emi stood near the corner of the room watching everything unfold as Lloyd headed towards the others. Skylor silently stared at Emi silently telling her to not utter a word, she quietly nodded however she was confused as to how Skylor would keep her identity as the spy a secret.

“Uh, I hate to do this, but it's your turn. Can I see your back, please?” Kai sympathetically asked causing Skylors attention to return to the ninjas. An angry expression appeared on her face.

“How could you not trust me? I came to you with the fortune cookie-“ Skylor expressed her frustration towards Kai, Emi secretly rolled her eyes she was trying too hard to appear innocent she thought but she was confused on why a fortune cookie was brought up.

Before Skylor could finish her sentence Kai interrupted “I'm sorry, but we have to know.”

Lloyd glanced around the room until his eyes landing on something or a someone who isn’t in the room anymore.

“Wait. Where'd Shadow go?” Lloyd gasped.

“He disappeared through his own shadow.” Jay exclaimed looking around as well for Shade

Finally one of the elemental masters found Shade “There he is. Get him!” Immediately Shade reappeared from out of the shadow, his eyes narrowing at Lloyd.

“I ain't your spy, and I ain't your friend either. That staff will be mine.” Shade lowly spoke staring at everyone until he reached Emi “and you already have the spy in your custody.”

When Shade stopped speaking Lloyd aimed a energy blast his way as an attempt to contain him, unfortunately Shade dodged the incoming blast and it landed on a portrait of Kai causing it to crash down from the wall and land onto Jay’s leg.

“Aah! My leg! Ugh. Get Kai off of me!” Jay yelled in agony.

Garmadon rushed to block the door as another way to stop Shade from escaping, however it didn’t work either.

“You cast a long shadow, old man.” Shade remarked before finally exiting the room. Leaving the rest of the elemental master and Emi alone in the room.

“It was Shadow. He must be the spy.” Neuro spoke allowing everyone to also realise that Shadow must have been the spy.

“Ow! Oh.” Jay whined as two of the elementals came over and lifted the painting of Kai of off his leg, his leg was definitely now broken.

One by one the elemental masters began to leave the room each scowling angrily at eachother. Kai reached out to Skylor.

“Skylor, look, I'm sorry.” Kai apologised.

Emi looked away in sorrow, Kai was being played by her sister and she couldn’t do anything but sit back and watch. This isn’t the life she wanted or the role she wanted to participate in.

“Don't. And if you still think I'm the spy, watch me walk out that door.” Skylor approached the door and moved a hand up to her shoulder moving her orange GI down to show her back it had no Anacondrai tattoo.

Emi herself was now confused, she didn’t have the tattoo because Chen was planning on giving her the tattoo once she had proven her loyalty to him which she wouldn’t do however she was shocked how Skylor herself didn’t have a tattoo she might not have done something loyal enough for their father to give her a tattoo and for her to join the cult. Emi remained frozen in the room even when Skylor eyes were on her when she left the room a silent way of saying ‘don’t mess up now.’

“What happened to our alliance?” Jay asked, hobbling towards the bed to sit down.

“What alliance?” Lloyd muttered in response shaking his head slightly.

“Not all hope is lost.” Garmadon proclaimed in a serious tone.

“How? We’ve lost the alliance nobody believes us about Chen and his stupid plan.” Kai protested, almost immediately Garmadon eyes moved over to Emi everyone’s eyes soon follow the exact same movement.

Emi slowly looked over at the four staring intently at her, a look of panic quickly came to her face.

“Lovely weather isn’t it.” Emi awkwardly smiled turning her body to fully face the onlookers.

“Alright, spill how much do you know.” Kai aggressively questioned, he made sure there was enough distance between the others and Emi as possible. Emi flinched at the aggressive tone Kai used.

“Kai” Lloyd exclaimed annoyed “Emi is not our enemy, Chen is.”

“Yeah but she’s his daughter!” He defended himself, he didn’t understand why Lloyd was protecting her.

“Yeah and I’m the son of the former lord Garmadon, it doesn’t matter who her father is. As my dad said not all children follow in their parent’s footsteps” Lloyd explained his voice rising slightly in frustration.

Both Garmadon and Emi smiled, she was thrilled not to be seen as an evil dictator like her father and she was thankful that Garmadon doesn’t have any bad blood with her. She hopes as he hasn’t said anything yet.

Emi sighed before she spoke up “I knew about the staff of elements and I knew he was stealing elemental powers, thankfully you three are still in and may be the only ones able to win and stop this cult. I’m sorry about what happened to the earth ninja I didn’t know my father was planning on corrupting the tournament and make you and him fight. However I don’t know about the spell and I didn’t know about it until today, but what I said to Lloyd earlier is that if it involves my father and Clouse then it isn’t good. I wish I could tell you more but I can’t betray my father he’s an evil man, a dictator you all already know this. He’s capable of horrific things please be extra careful he doesn’t care who he hurts to get what he wants.”

They all slowly nodded shocked how even Chens own daughter was scared of him the sound of fear was constant in her voice.

“Thank you.” Garmadon replied bowing his head forward in a respectful way.

“You’re very welcome, but please don’t tell what I’ve told you” Emi whispered incase anyone was eavesdropping on their conversations.

“Of course not, you have our word.” Jay promised.

“Just to make sure, can you show us your back?” Kai asks, they still needed to know if she had a tattoo or not.

Emi was hesitant at first before agreeing and turning her body so her back was facing them and lowered the fabric on her shoulder slightly exposing her back. There was no tattoo.

“You haven’t pledged your loyalty.” Garmadon thought out loud in a questioning tone.

“I haven’t and I don’t want to.” Emi confessed as she moved the fabric back to its original place, her back now no longer being exposed.

“Thank you Emi.” Lloyd smiled expressing his gratitude to her.

Emi smiled slightly in return.

“We all better hit the hay soon, it’s getting dark outside.” Kai announced his eyes glancing at Emi’s in a warning. A warning similar to Skylors ‘don’t mess up’ both within the same context with Skylors meaning to not tell them that she’s the spy and Kai’s meaning not to the tell the traitor or Chen that the ninjas have spoken to her. She was making a lot of silent promises today, ones that she wasn’t sure she could keep quiet.

Emi was the first to leave the room quickly saying goodnight to everyone before leaving. Lloyd soon caught up with her however almost jogging to catch up.

“Seriously thank you so much for helping, I know I put you in a pretty uncomfortable situation there.” Lloyd said the moment he was walking beside her.

“It’s okay, it was for the right reason.” Emi softly grinned at him. She didn’t understand why she was so comfortable walking or even talking with Lloyd.

“I’m so sorry about Kai, he’s not that trusting of people and he’s a bit of a jerk face.” Lloyd apologised, he felt awful about the way had treated her in the room. Emi chuckled before her face turned into a serious expression.

“Unfortunately that’s the normal for me, especially with all the people here competing in the tournament. They don’t see me as an equal because I don’t have elemental powers. They don’t see me as a friend.” Emi complained, it felt nice finally being able to talk about this too.

“I see you as a friend.” Lloyd grinned at her showing her his charming yet dorky smile.

“You do.” Emi was taken back by Lloyds quick disagreement to nobody viewing her as a friend “I see you as a friend as well.”

Soon Lloyd and Emi departed from one another and Emi immediately had a destination in mind of where she needed to go and she was already late. Emi walked into the room dedicated to hold Chen and his throne in, he was sitting on the throne watching Emi enter.

“Ah daughter there you are.” Chen exclaimed as Emi walked up to him.

“Hi.” Emi smiled standing next to him, she has a few questions of her own to ask her ‘beloved’ father.

“Uh dad, earlier today the green ninja mentioned a spell when everyone was eating. Is the spell true?” She asked, hoping not to make her father suspicious of her sudden question. Before Chen could reply a cultist entered the room, his attention immediately went to the cultist causing Emi to raise an eyebrow. Why had he suddenly become so interested in a random cultist.

“My spy, have they found the girl?” Chen questions a wicked grin on his face. Emi realised why her fathers attention was away from her and how the spy was able to hide a tattoo if she did infact have one, she was now certain that her sister did have the Anacondrai tattoo, the cults symbol.

“No, but you may have bigger problems to deal with.” The cultist seriously stated, in less than a second the cultist had turned back into her original form. Skylor was now standing in-front of Emi and Chen. “Cole’s got the metal man father.”

“Thank you, my child. The Master of Form's power has proved to be useful to you.” Chen announced as Skylor walked over to her father standing on the opposite side of the throne to where Emi was and cuddled up to her father affectionately “The ninja's time here is done. Tomorrow, we will end this charade. Tomorrow, we will break up the ninja forever!”

Both Skylor and Chen laughed together at the idea of the ninjas being no more. Emi slowly looked away in shame this wasn’t what she wanted the ninjas seemed friendly, they seemed trustworthy. They are trustworthy a quiet voice spoke in her mind. Soon the laughter stopped.

“You haven’t said anything have you?” Skylor asked her sister staring straight into her eyes.

“Said about what?” Chen questioned looking at his youngest daughter, Emi.

“Lloyd came into the room where they were interrogating who the spy was with Emi in tow. I was afraid she was going to ruin my cover. And then when I left she was still in there.” Skylor glared at her.

“Meaning you must have said something.” It was Chens turn to glare at Emi.

“Of course not! I told them I don’t know anything that I was clueless.” Emi frighteningly proclaimed, she was internally shaking.

“That does explain why it took you so long to arrive.” Chen gritted through his teeth.

“I promise, I wouldn’t betray you. Please believe me.” Emi almost screamed. Skylor stood watching her, mentally she felt guilty there was her sister scared to death about what would happen and she’s doing nothing. In her mind she called herself a coward.

“Perhaps I was too trusting on you. Allowing you to roam the temple where you could spread secret information to the enemy.” Chen sharply snapped.

Emi rapidly shakes her head, no longer being able to speak out of fear.

“You know there’s a way to make sure you are loyal to me and the Anacondrai tribe.” Skylor and Emi both widened their eyes. Now Skylor was petrified while she had willingly gotten the Anacondrai tattoo it was clear that Emi didn’t want it, she didn’t want to be apart of the cult.

“Wait father, Emi’s too young.” Skylor protested.

“You are 18 and Emi’s turning 16. She’s old enough.” A evil grin grew on Chens face.

Emi’s bottom lip quivered in fear “please! I’ll do anything but I don’t want to join.”

Chen snapped his fingers and two cultist guards enter.

“Take my daughter and give her the tattoo.” Chen ordered, both guards eagerly agreed.

“wait no!” Emi argued as the two cultists approached her and tightly grabbed hold of her, she struggled to get herself free.

“Make sure it’s the most painful experience she will ever have.” Chen grinned watching the cultists agree and drag Emi out of the room while she’s crying in fear and despair.

“Skylor!” Was her final scream as the door slammed heavily once she was out the room.

“Thank you my child for telling me about this betrayal. She’ll never do it again.” Chen smiled showing his gratitude towards Skylor.

Skylor eyes were glued onto the door, the door that her sister had just been dragged through tears began following from her eyes. It was then she realised just how scared of her father she really was, if he could do that to one of his own then he could do it to anyone. What scared her the most was that she could still hear the faint screaming of her sister when Emi had screamed her name haunting her mind. She hasn’t realised just how willing her father was to harm a person he was meant to love, she didn’t want that happening to herself.

After this experience Emi became more distanced with everyone, with Skylor, Lloyd, ninjas, Sensei Garmadon, Chen, everyone. The torture had left her severely wounded mentally causing her to become the shell of the person she once was. Emi was petrified to do anything wrong or against her father incase he had worse consequences. During the episode spellbound she wasn’t seen in the cafeteria that morning worrying Lloyd, near the end where Nya had found him and Garmadon it did cross his mind that maybe the reason he hadn’t seen Emi was because she was helping Chen capture the elemental masters, however he instantly disregarded that thought because he choose to believe what he had first thought was that Emi was on there side. The idea of Emi being tortured also adds depth as to why Skylor doesn’t want to disobey Chen during the episode Spellbound as she says “I had to obey my father or else—“ In the episode Skylor sounded scared so in this au when she was about to say else after that she would of said “or else he would have hurt me like he hurt my sister.” Then Kai would have exclaimed “Chens your father!” Before adding “wait Emi’s your sister, what happened to her?” However before Kai could get an answer Chen approaches. But this doesn’t happen and the line goes as normal with Skylor not actually saying anything after the “or else” as Kai interrupts her. In the episode after this, the forgotten element Emi is there in the background but she’s wearing non revealing clothes that cover her entire body but most importantly her back as she is ashamed that she now forcefully has the tattoo and is too apart of evil, a hood is also covering her face so to not show her puffy eyes for how pain she still is a day later as she is standing away from her father while Skylor and Kai are closer. They all notice especially Lloyd when he is brought into the chamber how closed of Emi seems to be, but he’s unable to question her in the moment. When Chen and Clouse are partly defeated they capture Skylor but not Emi because of Skylor possessing elemental powers while Emi does not, potentially meaning that Chen is repeating the cycle of when people said to him when he was younger that he will never amount up to anything because he doesn’t have elemental powers. However unlike Chen, Emi doesn’t become a vain person looking to steal elemental powers to prove everyone wrong she accepts it and moves on. For Emi she’s already broken the abusive cycle Chen had created for her and her ability not to have elemental powers.

The episode the day of the dragon, I have a scene in mind and I love it. Skylors captured and Chen alongside some of his Anacondrai cult guards are attempting to do the spell to turn everyone possessing the Anacondrai tattoo into literal Anacondrai everyone knows this and know that both Garmadon and Skylor would turn into snakes if it was completed. However nobody (of the elemental masters) knew Emi had the tattoo and didn’t know she would be in danger too. During this time Emi still kept her distance as she didn’t want to be confronted if they did succeed as everyone would begin doubting her trust and think she was in on it the whole time, so she watched from afar as everyone broke her fathers boat and rounded up the cultists. Thankfully nobody tried to tie her up mostly because Lloyd and the ninjas convinced everyone that she was on their side, Lloyd did try to speak to Emi once Chen retreated but she only exchanged short conversation before leaving. He put it as she’s worried about Skylor as they are sisters, but that was not true. She’s upset at Skylor because she was the one who caused her so much grief and pain about being tortured and was never comforted by Skylor after the event, Emi was felt ignored by Skylor. When Chen succeeded in completing the spell Emi was turned into a Anacondrai, immediately she locked herself into her room and didn’t leave. Until someone came.

The elemental masters are all about to leave each summoning their elemental dragons, however Lloyd realised they’re missing someone.

“Where’s Emi?” Lloyd asked outloud looking at each of the elemental masters and his father.

“I haven’t seen her since this morning.” One of them replied.

“Dad hop onto Zanes dragon.” Lloyd politely ordered as he flew closer to the roof de-summoning his elemental dragon.

“What are you doing son?” Garmadon questioned.

“You all go ahead, I’ll catch up once I have Emi.” Lloyd ordered.

Sensei Garmadon glanced at Lloyd before reluctantly agreeing and stepping onto Zanes dragon who had flew closer to the roof. Lloyd nodded and headed back into the temple.

“Emi!” Lloyd called out once he entered the long corridor. Passing the rooms that used to hold the different elemental masters now filled with emptiness and betrayal. He walked through a part of the temple he didn’t recognise, this must have been where Emi and her family lived. In the distance he saw a wooden door with a name written in small letters placed in the middle as he approached it he was able to read the name more clearly it the name written in cursive writing with red pen. ✧Emi✧.

Lloyd gently knocked on the door. Inside Emi jolted at the knock from her door slowly she slithered towards the door, she hated that she had to refer to her walking as slithering she had a tail, no longer did she have legs.

“Emi.” He spoke knocking on the door again, he heard movement from the opposite side of the door “Emi, Chens completed the spell we’re going to Ninjago city. we can make it a race between the others elemental masters.”

Emi immediately felt guilty, here Lloyd is wasting precious time just so she isn’t left behind, but she couldn’t go. She couldn’t leave the room not like how she is now.

“Go without me.” Emi replied, the door muffling her voice ever so slightly.

“Nonsense, it isn’t safe here. It’d be safer in Ninjago.” Lloyd encouraged.

“No, no, I’m fine here. Go help Ninjago.” Emi stammered slightly through her sentence as she tried to avoid any S words.

“You’d be so much help Emi and it would definitely ease both my mind, Skylors and yours if you were safe and sound in the Samurai X cave which is in Ninjago city.” Lloyd protested once again, Emi rolled her eyes at the mention of Skylors name she didn’t care.

“Just go.” Emi harshly said her hand unconsciously gripping at her arm tightly.

Lloyd eyes faced the door he was worried and confused at the same time.

“Are you okay?” Lloyd asked, sympathy evident in his voice.

“Ye- I’m fine your taking up more time talking to me.” Emi spoke nearly saying a S meaning she’d reveal that she’s been turned into a snake.

“Emi, please as you said yes we are wasting time but we- I need you off the island incase something happens. Everyone else is off.” Lloyd repeated what he had said earlier however his tone sounded more frustrated.

Emi gripped her arm even harder she was getting more upset, some tears falling from her eyes. Soon she spoke without her own accord screaming at the top of her lungs “I ssssaid go!”

She had messed up.

She said a S word.

She couldn’t even disguise it, it came out as clear as day. A hiss.

She pressed her head tighter onto her tail a way of saying ‘great you fucked up, he’ll know.’

“Emi?” Lloyd quietly questioned in a tone that he hoped sounded soothing.

“Pleasssse just leave me alone.” Emi mumbled as more tears flowed onto her cheeks. She didn’t have to hide it anymore even if she hated it.

Emi heard the sound of someone sliding down the door and sitting down. Lloyd was just there.

“Why aren’t you going.” Emi questioned, her voice cracking because of the amount of tears flowing.

“you need support.” Lloyd responded in a quiet tone.

“Can you pleasssse leave me alone.” Emi declared her voice continued to crack because of the tears.

“Can you open the door?” Lloyd asked as well instead of replying.

“No.” Emi shakes her head while she speaks that one word.

Lloyd sighed “I won’t say anything. You don’t have to talk.”

Emi hesitantly agreed and opened the door there sat Lloyd staring at her with his red eyes. Her skin was purple, she now had a tail, she had scales, there was so much more she could add about what she hated about her new appearance. The moment Emi’s brown eyes met Lloyds she broke more and more tears flowed down from her eyes to her cheeks some going towards her lips as she exhaled sobs while some landed on the wooden ground, Lloyd instantly reacted quietly comforting her as she cried next to him. At first this frightened Lloyd he wasn’t good at comforting anyone, he was so unused to it because of the lack of comfort he had when he was younger, he usually had to handle troubling emotions alone. However right now that was not right for Emi and so he sat beside her trying his best to calm her down eventually he was able to, not fully but enough for her to be able to speak again.

“Do you want to talk about it?” Lloyd quietly asked, his hand stroking Emi’s shoulder in a comforting gesture he hoped.

“I’m a ssssnake, what do you think.” Emi harshly snapped before bringing her body closer to herself in regret turning herself into a makeshift ball, she was returning back into her shell “ssssorry“

“You don’t have to apologise.” Lloyd whispered.

Emi inhaled and exhaled slowly as she tried to figure out her wording “I have the tattoo.”

Lloyd had figured she had the tattoo the moment he saw her as a Anocondrai, it wasn’t difficult to realise it. However one question in his mind was how did Emi get the tattoo because what he thought he knew was that Emi didn’t want to get the tattoo. Ever. But now knowing Chen and the extent he was willing to take to get what he wants he was questioning himself.

“May I ask how?” Lloyd asked in the same tone as Emi. Gentle and quiet.

Emi’s bottom lip quivered slightly and her body shakes in fear at the resurfacing memories of the experience. Lloyd placed a hand onto Emi’s and held it until she had calmed herself down once more.

“You don’t have to say.” Lloyd quietly reassured, however Emi wanted to tell him, she needed to finally say what had happened, to get comfort. However she would leave some information out, Skylor.

“Father found out I told you all top ssssecret information and he was not happy, sssso he told the cultissssts to give me the tattoo to prove my loyalty to him.” Emi left out a quiet sob “it sssstill really hurt, I didn’t want tttthis, I don’t want to live thisssss life anymore.”

Lloyd eyes widened in shock and sympathy at the state Emi was in, she was absolutely terrified of Chen because of what he had done to her.

“We will help you, we’ll find a way to get rid of the spell and if the tattoo is still there then we will find a way to remove the tattoo. In some shape or form.” Lloyd consoled brushing his thumb over her hand.

Emi rapidly shakes her head at the thought of somebody touching her back. Lloyd sighs before nodding in understatement.

“Come on, we’ve got to head to Ninjago.” Lloyd encouraged pulling Emi up along with him.

Emi still looked scared and hesitant to go with Lloyd, she didn’t know what to expect in Ninjago city. But Lloyd looked at her with his crimson red eyes staring deeply into her soul and just like the first time she meet him she felt captivated by them, but not in a forceful way she was willing to look at them and not be afraid of the blood coloured eyes staring back at her. Emi soon agreed, nodding her head slightly as she allowed Lloyd to lead her out of the temple for him to summon his dragon on the roof.

“Are you sssssure thissssss isssss ssssafe?” Emi questions the moment he reached a hand over to him. Already regretting her snake like voice.

“Of course, I’ve don’t this millions of times. It’s safe.” Lloyd smiled at her, his arm still outstretched in-front of her. Emi reached forward and grabbed the hand allowing Lloyd to pull her onto the dragon and sit on the saddle, her arms immediately wrapped around Lloyds waist securely.

“Ready?” Lloyd asked

“Ready.” Emi determinedly smiled at him.

The dragon let out a loud roar and Lloyd had one last thing to say “better hold on tight cause now it’s a race.”

“A wha- AHHHHHHHHHHHH” the dragon raced ahead with Emi releasing a loud scream into Lloyd ears, he winched at the sound.

The dragon continued further and further along the ocean and soon they were catching up to the other elemental masters and nearing the city Lloyd had been talking about.

“Welcome to Ninjago city.”

During the remaining episodes of the tournament of elements Emi and Skylor are still distant however Emi continues to add more to it as she isn’t willing to discuss things with her constantly ignoring her every-time she comes over. However she becomes closer to Lloyd forming more of a bond with him. After Chen is defeated and Sensei Garmadon banished himself to the cursed realm, everyone is preparing to say goodbye to one another. Lloyd approaches Emi asking what she’s planning to do now that Chen is gone and she replies with getting her life together meaning she’s abandoning the way of her family and not going with Skylor to run the noodle shop, instead she’s making her own way of life, her own legacy. One of which Lloyd is happy to help with and so they agree to continue to communicate with one another and when Emi is about to leave she quickly says to Lloyd “remember if you need to talk I’m a call away, I owe you.” And with that Emi is gone. Before Skylor returns to ninjago city she goes looking for her sister in the corridor of elders trying to find her and bring her sister home to try and create a sisterly bond between her, however Lloyd let’s her know that Emi is gone. He doesn’t say where she’s going because he himself doesn’t know, but he doesn’t tell her that he has her number a new number that Skylor doesn’t have. When Emi leaves he immediately stuffed it into his pocket and adds it to his phone that very night.

During Possession Emi is trying to create a life for herself renting a room from an elderly women in Ignacia and taking half time jobs any chance she gets. She still keeps in contact with Lloyd but during possession Lloyd doesn’t reply to her text messages and she assumes the worst, of course she doesn’t know that Lloyd was possessed by Morro. When the battle of Stix is over the first thing Lloyd does is call her as he doesn’t know where Emi is located and wants to catch her up on what had occurred. Of course she’s frantic at first because she’s just seen on the news the preeminent vs the ninjas and is wondering what the hell has happened.
