Why are garnet amethyst and pink pearl not gem furry’s like Stephan and rose?

Yeah that don't make a lot of sense does it.. Time to pull out an idea I've had for awhile.

The humans are now animals! This is where Steven gets his "lion-half" from! The gems just stay as gems though, no difference on their end.

And Rose shaped shift into a more Lion form to kind of blend in with the people of Beach City, if that makes any sense.
