I will never be normal about dog man for whom the ball rolls. Never ever ever I don’t think

I love the dog man movie sm but GEHAHHG. the recontextualization of the scenes it takes from that book ( a good chunk of the stuff in the latter 30 minutes of the film and all the stuff about Petey taking care of Li’l Petey/the grampa scenes and whatnot ) is SO heavy especially when for whom the ball rolls takes place way further down the timeline than the film

The difference between Petey’s anger towards his son in the film and the movie is SO drastic . Especially when one is out of genuine frustration and before any fondness, and the other is done out of misplaced anger towards someone Petey truly loves

I am so utterly wrecked by the implications of Petey trying to be a good dad to Li’l Petey but only having his own dad to base that affection off of . Li’l Petey genuinely not understanding he is loved by his father because of the way he is being treated because that is ALL PETEY KNOWS!! I’m losing it guys. I am LOSING it at the juxtaposition of Petey and grampa’s verbal behavior towards their sons and the way Petey stops himself while yelling at his own to comfort him I am LOSINFG. IT. Damn you George and Harold DAMN YOU!! DAV PILKEY!! whoever you are idk I hate this stupid idiot book (I don’t I just cried a lot I think it’s too late I think I should go to bed actually
