So, UA staff thought putting all these wild children in dorms would keep them safe, right?

Wrong.

Oh, so wrong.

Kaminari almost kills himself or someone else every day by messing with some gadget or Bakugou

You’ve caught him making ramen in the coffee pot.

Twice.

Once at one in the morning.

With Mina for some reason??

Who knows how often they’re doing this in secret. And also?? Why??

Bakugou brushes his teeth so angrily in the morning you want to bang against his door and tell him to shut the hell up.

Sometimes you hear Tokoyami up late at night talking to Dark Shadow. It’s actually pretty fuckin funny sometimes. Their bond is adorable.

Speaking of Dark Shadow….he’s prolly made/drawn you something before which Tokoyami has to awkwardly deliver when Dark Shadow suddenly gets too shy.

Midoriya is such a peach and will often make tea in the morning and even be nice enough to pour you a glass.

But also, he’s a sleep fighter. You’re never surprised to wake up to the sound of his shelf crashing down.

To be honest, you’ve slept through the last few incidents.

Mina, Kaminari, Sero, and Kirishima watch those “don’t try this at 3 A.M.” challenge videos and HAVE THE AUDACITY TO TRY THESE THINGS AT 3AM

Woke you up one night to prove they were on the phone with Boss Baby

It was just Kirishima in the other room holding up a picture of him to the screen

But you pretended to go along with it so they’d leave you alone about it. Also, it’s cute to see them all happy and giggling.

They still reference it.

Tsuyu, Hagakure,  and Uraraka are absolute queens. They are always down to talk when you need it and always look out for you. AND sleepovers with these two are more than common. Let them play with your hair and do your nails PLEASE.

MOMO IS A GODDESS TOO. She loves holding little study parties where you guys kick on the lofi playlist and actually get some work done. They slowly devolve into chill kickbacks where everyone catches up with each other and gossip a lil while eating some cookies Sato made.

SPEAKING….OF SATO

He is an AMAZING cook. But we all know this. He’s always baking, and he’s more than happy for you to be the guinea pig and test out his sweets!

When you say it’s good he goes “really??” and gives you puppy dog eyes its almost too much wholesomeness to handle. He’s such a good friend and it’s so easy for time to fly by with him.

SERO’S ROOM IS ALWAYS OPEN TO HANG. LITERALLY, IF THATS WHAT YOU WANT TOO.

He has pm an open door policy since the Bakusquad tend to migrate ibn there all the time. He burns incense sometimes and even if you don’t come to talk, it’s nice to just spend quiet time in his room.

Kirishima always invites you to work out with him, and usually Bakugou tags along. They’re…intense. If that even begins to describe it. But you have to admit, training with them makes you more skilled each time.

Koda lets you play with his pet bunny. He’s so shy, but he feels more comfortable and open when he has his animal buddy around as support. He is a fantastic listener and always willing to lend an empathetic ear. 

Please gossip with him and confess all your secrets, he will keep them safe.

Aoyama…is also king of gossip and rumors. Go to him for your sage advice.

He will ask you to critique his poses…and outfits…so…be warned. 

He is a god at hair though…if you need a fancy style you go to HIM. 

Did you sleep through your alarm clock? No worries, Iida is there to ~gently~ knock on your door and make sure you’re up for class on time. 

And when he’s not there to do it, Bakugou is. If he claims to not care about you so much uhhhhh why does he go out of his way to do this for you lmao

Bakugou will also get onto you for letting your room get messy….and force you to clean it. So unless you want an angry hedgehog infestation, I suggest you just pick up every now and then.

Theres no need to go downstairs to the fridge to get ice like…ever. Just ask Todoroki and he’ll make you a chunk with little to no questions asked.

Todoroki is a great roommate, just saying. He’s pretty much just a cat. Quiet and independent.

Until he’s around Bakugou.

Then hedgehog-kun is getting so pissed at Todoroki calling them friends. and other small things. It’s pretty damn hilarious.

Also um…you and Todoroki gardening together to relax. <3 It’s really therapeutic for him to tend to the plants with you.

He brought you a plant to put in your dorm once, too. It was a new species and an indoor plant, something you weren’t used to.

“Thanks, Todoroki-kun! What’s this one called?” “I haven’t thought of that…um, maybe George?”

Not what you meant….but you respect the gesture.

Ojiro!!! is also a good boy!!!

You really like training with him! He’s super fair and he never goes super hard on you (unless you ask). He gives a lot of good pointers on how to perfect your form, too.

Plus, sometimes he gets mochi cravings when it’s over…and he’s gentlemanly enough to treat you to some.

AND SHOJI WILL HOLD YOU IN HIS STRONG ARMS LIKE HE DID TSUYU WHENEVER YOU WANT. IT MAKES HIM BLUSH A LIL AT FIRST BUT NOW WHENEVER YOUR SAD OR MAD OR WHATEVER HE INSTINCTIVELY OPENS HIS ARMS

He’s also a great hugger. but that’s just a given. 

Jirou has a special jam playlist she updates. There’s meetings like…every week to argue what songs to add to it. She only adds those that are truly worthy. 

Also…she would be so happy to teach you how to play instruments and play with her…you guys have a garage band…but its in her dorm room. SO…dorm band.

THIS IS ALL I HAVE FOR RN BUT…I WILL POST MORE FOR THE THIRD YEAR DORMS AND THEN THE TEACHER DORMS. And perhaps living with the LOV??? BUT ANYWAYS HOPE YALL LIKE <3

African/Black Hair: Natural, Braids and Locks

Describing Black (Afro) hair:

Appropriative Hairstyles: Keep in mind that Afro styles should be kept to those in the African Diaspora, such as dreadlocks, cornrows + certain and many braided styles.

Tread carefully describing Afro hair as “wild” “unkempt” “untamed” or any words implying it’s unclean or requires controlling.

“Nappy” and “wooly” are generally words to stay away from, the first having heavy negative connotations for many and the latter, though used in the Holy Bible, is generally not acceptable anymore and comes off as dehumanizing due to Animal connotations.

There are mixed feelings on calling Black hair “kinky.” I’m personally not opposed to the word in itself and usage depends on the person’s race (I’m more comfortable with a Black person using it vs. a Non-Black person) as well as their tone and context (if it’s used in a neutral or positive tone vs. negatively/with disdain). Get feedback on your usage, or simply forgo it.

Hair Colors and Style

Writing Tips & Things to Keep in Mind:

Combination Words: Try combining words to illustrate look of hair. A character with springy coils that dance across her shoulders with every movement, the man with thick silvery hair slicked back into a ponytail…

Mind Perspective: Depending on POV, a character might not know exactly what cornrows or a coiffure style is, at least in name, and it might make more sense if they described the hairdo instead. More defining terms might come from a more knowing source or the wearer themselves. One book I read described a girl’s afro puff as “thick hair pulled up into a cute, curly, poufy thing on top of her head and tied with a yellow ribbon.”

POC & Hair Colors: People of Color’s hair comes in all shades and textures. There are Black people with naturally blond and loosely-textured to straight hair, East Asian people with red hair, and so on. Keep that in mind when coding characters if you tend to rely on hair color alone to denote a character is white vs. a Person of Color.

Okay so I don’t normally post, aside from my occasional reblogging (*snort* does that even count?), but I can’t pass up an opportunity to share about my Yvara Lavellan (my canon inquisitor). Unlike canon, Yvara isn’t at the conclave because of her clan, because she hasn’t been a part of it because of the fact that she had a twin brother, and when they were born from a half dwarven (yes, yes, I know— scandalous!) mother, he was born... tranquil. Cut off from the fade, something that was later discovered that Yvara had absorbed, something that made her magic unstable until around the end of DAI and before Trespassers—.

Yvara’s brother was born tranquil (though he could still comprehend emotion, but he was cut off from the fade) and being an “object” of the unknown, the Dalish kidnapped him, and tried to brutally kill him—, to which he escaped only because Yvara stopped them by launching herself into the fray with lightening magic, and fled for the night into the forest. During this time, Yvara’s mother was butchered just as they returned to the clan (wow... I’m so cruel to my lovelies), and Yvara was overloaded with so much magical energy that she wiped out the entire village, and was later found by her father, to which he asked no questions, and took her willingly to show her how to use her magic. (I’m not THAT cruel, so Yvara wakes up after the destruction of her clan with amnesia of the event.)

Later, of course, Yvara was sent to the conclave to report back to her father what was happening, and one thing led to another— and then B O O M! She became this clumsy mess of an Inquisitor, became friends with Solas (I can’t bring my heart to romance him with her poor fragile heart, but he IS crushing on her— (and kissed her in the fade, to which she avoided him for a week after and he vowed never to do it again)...), and Dorian adopted her into his makeshift family, so she later became Yvara Pavus. (Cannonly, she remains single until the end of DAI, beyond that I don’t have her shipped beyond RPs, lol)

do any of you guys with dragon age OCs have backstories that stray from the original lore or origin stories (if applicable)?? maybe headcanoning your elfquisitor as NOT a lavellan, or your warden isn’t from Ferelden or something  cause i’m writing some stuff for my new OC and it’s different from what her origin story would be lmao
