As a “young autistic” I’ve become a insane believer of fate and just let others find me
Because I don’t think lamenting about how different I am from other autistic will get me anywhere at this rate XP
But I do believe there’s been a shift to *always* be in a group and *always* relate to every minuscule detail otherwise you’ll be othered by the “group” you’ve placed yourself in which sucks
Is it me, or do young autistics not know how to find each other online? I see on Facebook a lot of them leaning into that "dark autistic supremacy" behavior by lamenting how they can never find autistics who share their very negative views, where autism is very disabling but they don't know how to break their bubble and they come across as projecting onto autistics who don't "suffer" the way they do.
There's this one guy I keep encountering, I think he's in his late 30s, who calls his autism a terrible power that has prevented him from getting into relationships. But he clearly doesn't want to really try to reach out, so I just ignore him. Since 2013, I have seen this kind of person, angry and blaming the community for not specifically taking about our worst moments so he doesn't feel alone.

If there wasn’t drama back then I’d think it was a different timeline
I feel lucky I realized some system things in 2019 and onward, felt like I dodged a nuke
How do y'all feel about the term "headmate" like. A roommate. But in the head y'know.
It used to be our preferred term but then the community at large decided it was "cringe" and at the time we were very active in the community, so we just stopped using in it favor of system member.

People decided it was cringe?! That’s news to me and by extension us
Though what do I know I call them and any other group of people I know my “gang”

It’s my favorite media because I like the story concepts, my favorite artist draw thin characters because they consume the same media, my favorite “self” is thin because I’ve been bullied for my lack of weight gain
It feels mighty pretentious if op to assume this is a fault of the consumer, and not toxic beauty standards of media that love to be pushed
When you grow up with one thing, drawing one thing, consuming one thing, hypothesis for ya, wouldn’t that person depict those things as those familiar ?
Just like op would like to see fatter than average people. I would also like to see anemic, near skeletal people shown in a good light and not told to “eat more” or be called anorexic
As I Said this is pretentious as hell
"Here are some fun doodles of all my OCs!!"
Why are they all thin?
"Here are my fashion sketches inspired by my favorite toothpastes"
Why are they all thin?
"Here are the my favorite viddy game characters!"
Why are they all thin?
"Look, I made a gifset of my otp, brotp, notp, hoetp..."
Why are they all thin?
"Let me introduce you to my favorite artist, they have an instagram!"
Why is all their art of thin people?
"I'm working an obnoxious ~relatable~ four panel weekly comic strip about my life, check it out!"
Why are all the people in it thin? Do you never meet fat people?
"These are my top 10 fave shows on netflix!"
Why are there only thin characters across all of those?
"Lol I drew mushrooms as people, fungisonas, look!"
WHY are they all thin?!?!
"I'm taking consensual street photos of fashionable people in a megapolis city like New York or Paris, here's the best 500 from the last year"
WHY ARE ALL OF THEM THIN?!?!
I beg you. Please. Please start seeing it. Keep asking that question until you see. Then ask it harder. Question your favorite creators, your favorite media, your favorite artists, your favorite self. Why are they all thin?

I actually heard the headline was misleading. He actually was saying he was worried that people would call the script woke and annoying
Not that he believed it was himself

I swear getting into ninja turtles felt like a switch flipped for me
I don’t know what they do to that turtle show (all of them) but something is put in that just brings extensive joy among the first glance and watch
Just out of curiosity, why ninja turtles? Did you choose the tmnt life or did they choose you?
They chose me.
I remember being nine years old in 1988, catching a scene from an episode and it was Leo telling Mikey not to eat the props (Curse of the Evil Eye).
And it must have been the explosion of dopamine from my undiagnosed ADHD and autismz but something powerful drew me in. I literally dove into the shiny bizarre ball pit that was the growing franchise featuring the weirdest characters who changed the face of independent comics and analysis of cartoon team personality types.
The Leader Strategist, the Muscle Brawn, The Genius Brain, The Comic Relief Who Has Hidden Depths That Nobody Understands And Is Actually A Divergent Wild Card But Let's Just Call Him Party Guy.*
*(You see, Michelangelo was one of the first characters to display depths and growths beyond a stereotype in the 80s. And his character was essentially adopted by the fandom before we knew we too were ADHD and Autistic.)
Anyway.
Also, the cartoon was made to sell the toys based on the comic. And then the movie happened and everything exploded.
I remember learning about the original Mirage artists making their own parody comics in the 90s, eventually informing some of the fandom. I remember being part of the push to get 2003 on the air. I remember how Next Mutation broke Eastman and Laird apart and how visually terrible the show was, even with a fantastic premise. (Peter refused to sign off on it, Kevin signed off reluctantly, Peter took full control of Mirage and Kevin went on to be a consultant for future iterations, aka fanfiction that got approved by the creator.)
Also, in college, I had the Ninja Turtles in my head as imaginary friends cheering me on. I wrote a short story with my self insert hanging out with the Ninja Turtles in her mind. This was in the late 90s. It was rare and puzzling. Fanfiction was barely a thing the way it is now, we had to hide everything and people would say it didn't make sense to imagine yourself with nonhuman animal mutants with humanoid psychology, why can't you be around real people, why are you so weird, quit being weird
They totally chose me.
This was a fun ask!
