candyapplecarcinogen:
“IT’S ME. IT’S ME,” she whispered softly back, smiling at the … warmth she felt spring inside of her heart from that embrace. Candy nuzzled her in response, chuckling slightly.
It was her. It was actually her! Candy felt a welling sense of relief and dread inside of her chest as she gazed at Kanaya on the table. It crossed her mind that she had no formal medical training beyond haphazardly patching up wounds on a battlefield, and she was not suited to actually tending to her this way. She frowned, and forced those thoughts out of her head. Kanaya was here, she was safe, and-
Oh. Yeah. The big drone, the one that … seemed friendly to her? Or at least ambivalent. The reprogrammed one that followed Kan around.
“ERR, HI.” Waving at it, though not expecting it to respond, before looking vaguely upwards to address another mechanical entity. “SHIP, CAN YOU … SCAN KANAYA FOR WHAT’S WRONG? DOES SHE NEED BLOOD, OR STUFF?” Really she was flying by the seat of her pants now, only for a rushing flair of anxiety and adrenaline to course through her at the sound of … more metal footsteps from another part of the ship.
They had gotten in.
Now on full alert, she grabbed at her scythe rushing to the entrance of the ship to dispatch the intruders. It would be … difficult. The ships halls were narrow, leaving very little room to swing such a widely berthing weapon, but she had to try.
Kanaya smiles into the heat of her nuzzle, before things start to get fuzzy. The table, it’s cold. She is limp, hardly of wont to move in any way. Head falls slack to the side, as she finally passes out.
The ship beams a slim ray over her body, chiming a pleasant sound in response to Candy. “Scan initiated. 10%” The screen above showed the progress  as it scanned up from her feet. “25%”. Her femur had suffered an old hairline fracture, though it was not severe enough now to worry about. “45%.” Her... Stomach was missing? The x-ray shows something odd coiling around where it should be.
As Candy heads into battle, the drone walks to Kanaya’s side at the table, standing like a useless sentinel with all of her things over hits shoulder.
From the other side of the ship, an attack drone blasts a hole into the wall, just as Candy passes it by. Goodness, that was a close call. And the one she is heading for? It takes a step back, and takes a running charge into her in an attempt to bring her down and crush her. “75%.” Just shy of her collarbone, the x-ray has reached. There is a large creature residing in her abdomen, at does not move, merely sits still as Kanaya lays there. What seems to be a mouth takes over where her esophagus ends, and it rests easily between her lungs.
“100%” The scan it complete. There are several fractures along her cheek, and an odd chip implanted beneath the base of her horn. “Subject has sustained multiple fractures, vital organs are missing. Subject is alive.” A machinal arm finishes analyzing a blood sample it drew earlier. “Subject is a - Jadeblood. Rainbowdrinker cells detected. Low cell count.” In other words, blood would be needed.

candyapplecarcinogen:
As Candy scrambles to procure a med kit, there is muffled sounds coming from outside, but her mind dismisses it as either the wind or more drones come to be slain. While that was worrying, they had never breached the sanctum the ship provided … Yet. That didnt mean she didn’t have to take care of them, just she had better things on her mind at the moment.
One had been found, obviously, in the unused medway, as she had come to ignore its uses given she no longer required immediate medical attention in most matters. Clutching the kit to her chest like it was the most precious treasure in the world, she made her way back to the main deck and … heard more noises. Even her name.
It all seemed to be coming from just outside the main dispatch door. Hurrying over there, it slid open with a mechanical shunt, revealing the dimness of the world. The merc gasped at who greeted her, sprawled there, feeling a sense of simultaneous relief and dread well up inside.
Quickly yet gently hoisting her up, Candy rushed inside to get her to that ill-used medbay.
When the door opens, she falls to the floor, groaning as she catches herself on a shaky arm. Kanaya is so bleary, hardly able to register that she’s being moved. Sluggish, heavy. All the trials, they’ve finally sink into her bones. After a moment of jerking as the shorter woman walks with her, she puts the last traces of strength she has into wrapping her arms around Candy, just to help bear the weight.
“Oh, it really is you.” Words so quiet, as she buries her face into the other’s neck. She’s so warm, so real.
The door had been left open. A drone ducks in, steps tectonic amidst the metal ship. It lurches foreword, slowly, following the two. A lizard scuttles to it’s shoulder, Kanaya’s lipstick in it’s mouth. The drone carries her things.
There are more outside, however, past the trees The final flair had drawn them in. Their joint servos thrumming as they approach. No one steals a test subject.

To be noted. During high emotional stress, subject 006 fails to conserve her stamina and neglects her most obvious solutions. Concerning.

candyapplecarcinogen:
The flair rocketed through the air before dispersing into a brilliantly loud, bright display. Candy shielded her eyes, still quite sensitive to light, but at least it was helping her. Or, at least she thought. Every time she did so, it would alert more drones, the surroundings around the ship littered with their mechanical corpses. Ever since fixing the ship, she had thought about flying off to find her again, but staying put felt … safer for some reason. Plus, she didn’t want to put in all of this work and wait for nothing.
Just as she had done before, she waited, scythe in hand, for any attackers. When none came, she sat, and waited, for any sign of Kanaya. Just as so many times before, she did not come.
With a sigh, Candy turned to head back into the ship.
> -- There is bustling heard in the distance. Whirring, if one listens close enough. But it is not their time. Not yet. For now, they are allowed this moment. For science, of course.
Kanaya hasn’t seen another living soul in over two sweeps. The idea that something beyond desolation, isolation... That there is more that could be there for her, it’s almost too much to think about. She is strong, steady in her run. The flair must have been at least a mile away, and it takes painfully long footfalls to race to it. The last sparkles flickered out minutes ago, but she thinks she knows the way. What if she just, what if she just -
“Karkat!” She shouts, chest heaving, heavy. Tears flow from her eyes. She prays it isn’t a trap, a cruel joke. She shouts her name until her throat is raw, and her maw is already so dry. One, two, one, two. She’s got to be there, she has to be.
And that’s when the metal hull is in view.
The Sylph’s eyes widen, hot tears streaming down her face, threatening to melt her skin clean off. It flickers with white light, and a final burst of speed is all she has in her. And then, and then!
The ship, no one is there. There is no one here, as she looks frantically. There’s a sealed port, god, that must be the door. Fuck, come on! Kanaya, without even thinking, runs up to the door, and tries to open it with trembling hands. Her breath is shallow, eyes wide and bloodshot. No. No, no! She makes a fist, and bangs on the door with the meat of her palm. “Candy! Candy, I’m here, it’s me!” She carries on like this for a moment, so weak, so tired. Her tears have stopped, and she’s slid to her knees, feet tucked under her skirt. Her knocks have turned into light taps.
“It’s me, let me in.” A quiet sob as she leans against the door, not even with enough sense to message Candy that she’s there.

> -- You watched two Karkat’s die. One before your eyes, the other was merely found. Both were very close to you, though your first friend will always hold a broken place in your heart.
> -- And now you are swimming in Karkats. There are at least five of them talking to you right now, and it is overwhelming. The first you’d made contact with was Candy. She received the brunt of your trauma, and for that you will never forgive yourself. But soon, you will find her. You feel it in your gut.
> -- In fact, as morning piques, you hear an explosion in the sky. Ears perk, swivel, and orient to the sound as it reverberates off the trees. Could that have been one of her flairs? You tear up at the very thought, tense. You begin to run towards it.

★ :3c
...Gay.
Kanaya is a lovely lady who I do wish I got more chances to actually see on the dash, but unfortunately our times are very much not in along so I usually only get to see her around late in the evening or early in the mornings. That said, she's got hella style and she deserves better than the hand she's been dealt but damn if she doesn't play it well despite it all. I wish I could help her more in getting her off that damn planet...

For every ∯ I get I will say/confess something without specifying for whom it is meant
eg:
∯ || You told me once that I was the only person on that team you might consider a friend… I can say now that I should have taken you at your word long ago.
∯ || I wish we had more occasion to speak. I can’t say I’ve ever disliked your company.
∯ || Leave the van Gogh works be; you’re going to give him an ulcer.
