Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park, TX

$60/night for the cheap sites plus $2 for internet booking. Staying 2 nights in site #9. It's next to the local airport here in Fredericksburg. LBJ's ranch is about 15 miles east of here. RV camp sites in Fredericksburg and surrounding areas are very expensive. 04/09/24

Staying the night at the rest stop near Hye, TX (just east of Fredericksburg). Watching the eclipse tomorrow. 04/07/24

04/08/24 Cloudy day so no eclipse to see. Just got dark for 5 minutes. Still kind of cool though. Dark at 1:15 pm.

Gamble Rogers

Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flager Beach, FL. Flagler is north of Daytona Beach. Great location, Altantic on one side and the Indian River (part of the Atlantic intercoastal water way) on the other. The campground is on the Indian River side. Can't see the river very well from the camp sites as lots of vegetation blocking it. Same pricing as the last two SPs except site cost is $28 per night and $14 for me. Staying two nights in site #52. 02/20 - 21/24

The have a nice nature trail to spend some time exploring.

Rodman Campground State Park

S/W of Platka, FL. About 50 miles from Gold Head Branch and has the same pricing per night. Site #50 and staying 4 nights. At Lake Ocklawaha and the Cross Florida Barge Canal (canal was apparently a political boondoggle and was shut down before completion). 02/16 - 02/20/24

Reserve a site #59 - 68 and you'll be right on the canal. Great spots. This is a great campground and the lake around Platka is also very nice. 02/20/24

Inland near Keystone Heights, northwest of Daytona Beach. $20 for site, $7 utilities, $6.70 if booked online, plus tax. $10 off site cost for FL residents 65 and up. This is site #72. 02/14/24

Rockledge, FL. Went for lunch. Good beer and had a Chicken Quesadilla. In house made Key Lime pie. Maybe the best I've ever had. Great local place, will definitely be going back again.

Getting larger solar panels next!

Currently my (2) 100 watt panels take too long to charge my 2 lithium batteries. Proposed (2) 195 watt and (1) 100 watt panels should do the trick. Need to get the solar charger fixed first though. Then off to Winter Haven, FL to get the work done. 02/01/24 02/28/24 The installer can't fit me in until May 1. So on hold till I get back here next year or have done somewhere else. Posted 04/09/24

Watched the Falcon 9 Cygnus Resupply (to the ISS) Launch. I was at the Veterans Memorial Fishing Pier in Titusville, FL (Pier 220). The Pier is below the A. Max Brewer Memorial Parkway bridge. Here's my video. 01/31/24

Victron Blue Solar Charger Died.

The 100/50 Blue Solar charger has stopped charging. Contacted Victron waiting for response from their rep Inverters-R-Us who I purchased it from. 01/20/24

Inverters-R-Us tech quizzed me on the charger and had me try different things to trouble shoot. All failed and they said to ship it to them for evaluation. Shipping cost on me though. Da bastards! Dropped it off at a UPS shipper Beckford Shipping Services in Cocoa, FL. It will go out Monday the 12th and should arrive Friday the 16th.

02/10/24 Received the replacement charger. Same problem. Determined actual problem was 2 splices the prior owner made on the positive cable between the coach batteries and the charger when she installed some parts of the solar system. Redid both splices and fixed. Not sure why Inverters-R-Us gave me a new charger as the one I had was not the problem. 03/05/24
