I had planned to do something totally different with my day but instead I made a whole bunch of pride birds! I plan to put them on Redbubble asap.

this made me cry, so i have to share it. i can’t tell you how much of this feels like it was about my childhood.
“Some nights, always alone, I go out in stolen makeup and women’s clothes with an ID I found in a lost wallet. I never feel more male than on these nights”

bunj. obviously the komodo dragons FLEW to indonesia and then they lost their wings. no boats were involved
honestly what you should really be taking away from the Komodo-dragons-actually-evolved-in-Australia thing is that the relatives of our good ol’ Komodo friends were much, much, MUCH bigger than their modern counterparts.
while the Komodo Dragons were still nameless lizards bodysurfing through the open Pacific towards the island that would give them their name, their relative Megalania was still fuckin’ it up in the Australian homeland!
Megalania, if you’re curious, was over 20 FEET long.
<art src: Roman Uchytel>
ironically though it was ultimately Megalania and most of its direct relatives that would end up in that big zoo in the sky, while the Komodo Dragon managed to carve a niche out for itself in its island home and avoid the fate of its relations.
long may it stay that way.
