Verdante is a world after the end. Hopeful communities thrive where humans and ICE (Intelligent Cybernetic Entities - technology born sentient after the fall of the old world) live in hard-won peace. But the scars of the past haunt them. Poisoned ruins, mutated half animal/half robotic beasts, and unstable relics.
What does one find in a world that's healing from an apocalypse?
Villages and towns separated by time and under-population.
Rogue warlords and tech-overlords that try (and typically fail) to control the regions.
Natural disasters from old-world echoes.
Mutant wildlife and poisoned places that refuse to die quietly.
The world knows what came before. Not in fullness...but enough.
The ICE remember; walking archives that live and breathe sun and electricity. Living proof that the old world happened, and that something survived.
The humans work to build, work to breathe, work to live. They grow what they know and craft what they can. Nature embraces them like old friends.
Together? The two races are learning to thrive in a world that died and breathed again.
Welcome, traveler, to Verdante.

1999 has been an absolute success in my eyes! One of my fav new additions are the Acuity mods (+crit chance and + damage on weak points, but prevents changes to multi shot), because now both sides of my brain need to debate in good faith “do I want More Bullets Per Bullet? Or do I want One Very Ouchy Bullet?”

Thinking about warframe 1999 and it just dawned on me I have no idea how to say “Mag”’s name (Aoi). Owie :(? Ay-oy? Ahoy?
Would prob be even funnier if it wasn’t aoi and instead it was AOL and every ability sound is one part of a dialup sound. Imagine trying to cast mag’s bubble but you can’t because your sibling is trying to call the cat so you’re left with A Basketball Sized Orb of Inconvenience by Fall Out Boy

To say warframe has changed my perception of games would be the understatement of the eon. Games come & go and I enjoy a lot of what I play, but warframe has the best vice grip on me for an entire plethora of reasons. Above all, it has to the story.
“Oh aren’t you just robots fighting bad guys” well yes but no because there’s MORE. S O much more.
A good friend of mine kept asking me to play this with him and I always told him no. He eventually brings up that it’s free and I finally think to myself “ok, what’s the harm now? You can try it and then if you don’t like it you never have to play again”.
Those early days flicker in the back of my mind like distant stars, learning about this ancient group of warriors before the game gives me my first choice. Knowing nothing else, I picked Excalibur. Running around with a cool sword seemed the most compelling to me.
Immediately after the quest when I was set free, I remember joining that same friend as we headed to a level well above my reach. While I wouldn’t have the slightest idea what was going on as sights and sounds flashed & blared and whizzed past my ears, with my weaponry doing the same as they levelled up multiple times a minute, I would much later recognize this as a typical run on Hydron.
I worked my way through the star chart, fighting new enemies, getting new weapons, and following the threads of what would eventually become the most finely-woven tapestry of a story I’ve EVER experienced. Around the beginning of mid-game (yes, THAT quest), my entire perception of this game shattered. It rocked my soul and my jaw fell under my desk. The single best moment in any story, masterfully served to me on a silver platter, a main course meal when I was expecting to just try a sample.
The story continued to blow me away from then on, plot twists, raised stakes, and more always had me on the edge of my seat.
Fast forward to this year and I was already ecstatic for 1999 and finishing up a personal goal (maxing out all the Kuva and tenet weapons). I was fully set to bear this task alone while counting down the days but to my immense surprise, two of my best friends picked up the game, and the joy I’ve had in teaching them how to play the game was incredible. Not only did they pick it up, they are fully caught up with the story and ready to dive into the next chapter on day one.
I could keep yapping but the things I want to end this with are:
- PLEASE give warframe a try. It’s free and not at all graphically-demanding. Find someone experienced in the game and have them on standby. Warframe has made immense strides in the past 11 years but in the beginning it trips over its long legs, and without external guidance it can be daunting for newer players.
- Digital Extremes, thank you from the very bottom of my heart for making the coolest game I’ve ever played.
Now if you’ll excuse me I need to go back and time and yell at teenage me for not knowing about this game and not becoming a founder

“What do you do when you’re LR1 and you’re waiting for updates?”
Unbelievably silly shit. Did a duviri run with one of my best friends and before we even started the run, I hit the “meditate” emote and spun myself around for 5 minutes like a beyblade.
I then proceeded to turn and Aim so my character would snap to cursor as if you picked up a forbidden artifact.
#warframe#I cannot stress how easily I can be entertained#I picked Hildryn btw#current objective survive

A non-exhaustive list of things that happen in Warframe out of context:
(Spoilers, if you can even tell what I'm talking about)
An ultracapitalist warlord is harrasing cyborg kids for a comic book. You can help the kids by pulling sick skateboard tricks. The reward is a playable magical girl (who also pulls sick skateboard tricks).
A megacorporation has made the stock exchange into a bloodsport.
Your grandad tries to corrupt a computer. The only way to stop him is by jumping into cyberspace and blasting orchestral dubstep at him.
A room on your ship has been taken over by talking cancer cells. This is entirely beneficial to you.
An autistic child figured out who the main antagonist of the universe is. Some people did a cult about it.
The Pope of Capitalism is hiding in his own pocket dimension. You fight him by throwing a disc at ghosts.
Some of the characters you play have built-in weaponry. One of them has a built-in cat.
The alternate reality version of you has been trapped in a storybook fighting a one-person rebellion against a mad child king.
Sometimes you get attacked by the pinnacle of edgelords who is also your grandad's boytoy. He is a pushover, but somehow his disciples aren't.
You gain the ability to own and pilot a big ship. For unexplained reasons the ship is powered by a mummified finger in a jar.
One time you pilot a robot ghost to fight soldiers in space while a ship captain sings a shanty at you.
Turns out your adoptive mother is really your adoptive mother masquerading as your adoptive mother. Her ex blames you for this.
The final objective of a climactic story mission involves you helping your mother fight her abusive ex and preventing the corpse of your grandmother from eating the sun.
The leading scientist of a now long-dead empire has gone missing. You need to help his husband and their three talking pets fight living mannequin arms using a spellbook.
Time travel exists, and its main purpose is to stop Y2K, which actually happened.
#warframe#warframe shitpost#MR30 here#this is not only correct but objectively the easiest way to describe it#I WILL be using all of these to explain context#warframe spoilers
