Blog 4: Process This assignment was to research Armory 1914 and pick and image to recreate. The first image was the one I chose because of the colors incorporated. For the beginning process I printed the photo I wanted to recreate and measured out a grid then I transferred the grid for over to the larger paper for an accurate scale of the photo. I added scotch tape to the top and bottom of the paper to create a sharp border. I then used pencil to outline major features using the grid lines as a guide. After that I outlined the rocks in black charcoal for depth and added color from dark to light throughout the rocks and water using pastels. I wanted to make the photo my own while recreating the image so I created a new version of the woman on the rock while still incorporating the colors used in the original. I created the sky last by blending out the lighter pastel colors and ended the process by signing it in charcoal and removing the tape to reveal the border. The biggest challenge was trying to recreate the look of paint with pastels because of how easy pastels blend. 4.25.17

Blog 3: Favorite Drawing So far this is definitely my favorite drawing I've done. It was the first time that I really liked what I did and was proud to show people. This is from my sophomore year of high school but is still my favorite. I loved Demi Lovato at the time and is why I chose to draw her. I diagramed the photo which really helped me scale the drawing on the much larger white paper. I then outlined her and erased the lines. This was all done with graphite pencils and a black colored pencil for the darker parts of the picture. 2.13.17

Blog 1: Introduction
Hi! My name is Karyssa Duitsman and I love anything and everything that has to do with art. Art was always my favorite class growing up. In middle school I was fortunate to get into TAG art which I loved. I continued art through high school until my junior year when I was forced to chose important classes that I needed over art which was heartbreaking to me. I don’t often spend time on my own to paint or draw like I did when I was younger but would paint my nails constantly until I fell in love with makeup! You can see some of my past drawings, paintings, nail designs, and makeup looks that I’ve done on my page. Something I struggle with when it comes to drawing is focusing on a piece for a long amount of time before I get sick of it and try to half-ask finish the rest. I am so excited to see improvements in my drawing abilities this year which I have already seen! 2.5.17
