also on the topic of creators becoming too parasocial with their own audience- I feel like this is a huge issue in mcyt in general. and people talk about smaller mcytbers spreading rumors about dteam that are all end up being random and unfounded, and we are like oh these people are so annoying and petty! but I think there is an underlying problem of people being too tuned into their audience and absorbing their perceptions of other ccs as their own. and if your audience is constantly talking about how terrible this person is, even if you act civil and normal when interacting with them in events and cons, that effects the way you see them. and what you believe about them.

and this is part of why I think it's so ridiculous to try to engage in discourse with ccs in dteams circle because this is a part of the problem in the first place. no interpersonal issues have ever been solved with a well worded call out post from a stan

lmao I had a night to process my feelings on the Best Friends storyline and I decided what extra kills me is the fact they could have had OC react to what Trent said about him (after kicking his ass no less) with derision and the refusal to listen.

So it was actually kind of wild to have him go ‘I’m still processing what he said’ in a very self-reflective, ‘maybe he’s right’ kind of way and not get defensive about it. Which makes the ending of the match even sadder because AGAIN, if Trent had at any point talked about his feelings, there was a good chance OC would have immediately started to rectify what was causing all this anger.

Because like. Sometimes you hurt your friends and you don’t mean to. Sometimes you are an asshole and you need to make up for that! He was a dick during his title reign at times (including cheating during Trent’s actual match) and I think he would have fully come to that conclusion with a little more time. But Trent going too far has likely closed off lines of communication for now and it’s Sad. 😔
