Fascia is much like the yarn of this sweater.

One small spot affects many. In bodywork, people often focus on what hurts instead of searching for the source.

In this example, the shoulder, the hip, and the opposite ribs would likely be what hurt, but that's not where the problem is. ✨️Everything is connected 🕸

It's funny how people think I'm shy or timid because I don't fill every empty space with my words.

I am an observer, I am doing and learning a lot.

Just the other night in class I was standing with an instructor and my friend.

My friend was seeking an answer to a question she never asked,

And the teacher was trying to answer a question he didn't hear.

And I just watched this pointless conversation,

Wondering if either one of them understood why that felt unfinished,

Or if they even noticed.

Time-lapse of one of my chronic pain flare-ups showing just how much it can change your body. Chronic pain is a daily experience, and to an extent, you just become used to it. You expect it to be there. Sometimes, it completely overwhelms and takes over your life, and that can be such a soul crushing experience because it's already daily, without a break and even when it doesn't effect you, it effects you. A flare-up could be just around the corner at any moment, an ever-present threat. My chronic pain journey was a large part of what led me to all of my studies and, ultimately, my career. Sharing my story, being curious, exploring the depths, feeling more, getting better at feeling and not pushing it away, making friends with my shadows, and stirring the pot more and more... On purpose... and trusting what I feel... have been crucial. I'm still on my journey, but I have more tools, support, and resources now than I ever had before, and most days, I know I can reasonably keep myself out of crisis. Follow for more of my story
